From the Pastor s Desk Dear Friends! Yesterday we hosted in our church a beautiful presentation of the Lord s Passion. I thank all of our parishioners and guests who participated in this event. I hope that many of you were spiritually enriched and got even closer to the symbol of our salvation the cross of Jesus Christ. I would also like to thank the group from St. Hyacinth Basilica for their performance for our parish community. In the beginning of Lent, many parishioners took home the Rice Bowls containers. Please, remember to bring your offerings back to church on Palm Sunday and place them in specially provided baskets. This form of your material offering is considered as a Lenten alms contributing, and it will be passed on to the poor and the needy. May our good God bless you for all your Lenten sacrifices. Please join us on Friday, April 7th, for the last Fish Fry of this season. Only this coming Friday we will have the opportunity to enjoy delicious fish dinners and perhaps set another sales record. I believe that we can accomplish this because every Friday we have hundreds of people from St. Albert s and many other parishes who eat here and who financially support our parish. In the future weeks, I will provide you with the total number of served dinners and the net profits from the Fish Fry Fridays. Until then, I hope to see you all in Rogers Hall this coming Friday! The outdoor Stations of the Cross are scheduled for Saturday, April 8th. We will leave from the parking lot of St. Louis de Montfort church at 6:30 pm and make way through the streets of Oak Lawn and Burbank to our St. Albert the Great church, here we will end with a Holy Mass. Bishop Andrew already confirmed his participation in this procession. Please, organize your day, so you will not miss this very special event. Please invite your family members and friends and bring with your candles and lanterns. On Sunday, April 30th in Rogers Hall (from 8:00 am -3:30 pm) we will have for you a wonderful Parish Spring Brunch. We are asking all parish groups to prepare a dish for the Sunday brunch crowd as well as help with the sale of the raffle tickets ($10.00 each). The raffle prizes are one $2,000.00 and two at $500.00 each. Please, play the raffle, anyone could be the winner! It would be great if each family would buy at least one raffle ticket. Profit from the brunch and the raffle will be used for the renovation of the church s Sanctuary. Raffle tickets are available in the back of the church. In conclusion, I would like to share with you joyful news; Saturday, May 13th seminarian Lukasz Pyka and Mr. Raul Duque will be ordained as deacons during the ceremony in the Holy Name Cathedral. Sunday, May 14th we will have for both newly ordained deacons a reception in Rogers Hall which will give us an opportunity to wish both deacons many of God s blessings on their new journey of service to God and His people. Drodzy Parafianie! Z biurka Ks. Proboszcza Wczoraj odbyła się w naszym kościele piękna prezentacja Męki Pana Jezusa. Wszystkim tym, którzy w niej uczestniczyli składam serdecznie podziękowanie. Mam nadzieję, że wielu z was ubogaciło się duchowo i jeszcze bardziej zbliżyło się do krzyża Jezusa, który jest znakiem naszego zbawienia. Dziękuję także w waszym imieniu grupie teatralnej Wieczernik z bazyliki świętego Jacka za jej przygotowanie i przedstawienie jej w naszej wspólnocie parafialnej. Na początku okresu Wielkiego Postu wielu z was zabrało ze sobą do domów małe specjalne skarbonki tzw. miski ryżu. Możemy je przynieść z powrotem w Niedzielę Palmową i złożyć je do specjalnych koszyków w kościele. Ten materialny dar jest formą wielkopostnej jałmużny i zostanie przekazany na potrzeby głodnych i ubogich naszej parafii. Bóg zapłać za wasze wielkopostne ofiary! W najbliższy piątek tj. 7 kwietnia zapraszam was do sali pod kościołem na ostatni wielkopostny obiad rybny od godz. 4:00 do 7:30 wieczorem. Tylko w ten nadchodzący piątek możemy jeszcze wspólnie ustanowić nowy rekord w sprzedaży bardzo smacznych ryb. Wiem, że możemy to zrobić! A zatem do zobaczenia w piątek w sali pod kościołem! Już w najbliższą sobotę 8 kwietnia odbędzie się po raz pierwszy pleneryjna Droga Krzyżowa z kościoła św. Louis de Montfort (proboszczem jest tam ks. Stanisław Struglik) do naszego kościoła św. Alberta Wielkiego w Burbank. Początek Drogi Krzyżowej o godz. 6:30 wieczorem. Tak zorganizujcie swój czas, aby nas było tysiące. Przynieście ze sobą lampiony, świece i pochodnie. Przyjdźcie w strojach regionalnych. Zaproście swoich bliskich oraz znajomych. Niech to będzie swoista manifestacja wiary, nadziei i miłości do Jezusa ukrzyżowanego. To nabożeństwo Drogi Krzyżowej zakończymy adoracją Krzyża i Mszą Świętą w naszym kościele. Swoją obecność na Drodze Krzyżowej potwierdził także ks. biskup Andrzej Wypych. Zapraszam wszystkich parafian i przyjaciół naszej parafii na wiosenne śniadanie i obiad w niedzielę 30 kwietnia od godz. 8:00 rano do godz. 3:30 popołudniu. There s some evidence for eucharistic towers also, but often these were in an obscure corner of the church, or even in the off-limits sacristy. Many of us grew up making visits to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, but it s clear this would raise some medieval eyebrows in confusion! To the present day, the Eucharist is always reserved only in a side chapel in many cathedrals. The principal focus in a cathedral is always on the altar, symbol of Christ, and on the cathedra, symbol of the pastoral ministry of the bishop. In your parish church there is probably a sanctuary lamp, a permanently lit candle or oil lamp indicating the presence of the Blessed Sacrament. Sometimes it s in a red glass, not for any particular reason except that it s easy to find. There is a story of a bishop missioned to Papua New Guinea who was distressed to find no sanctuary lamps burning in his new diocese. The people patiently explained that their churches were woven of grass, and that they decided to place a chief s standard, a trident, in front of the tabernacle. That was a sign in their culture that the chief was at home, like raising the flag over Buckingham Palace. The bishop, an Irish import, didn t appreciate the British reference, so he ordered the candles back.
