St. Albert s St. Vincent De Paul Society Is Looking for New Members Over the past few years, our membership has diminished (relocation, age, medical problem etc.) however, we still answer the calls from the parish and area poor and needy. St. Albert the Great Parish has always answered and assisted in the time of need (Food Donations, Parish Collections, and Fund Raising). A few laborers are needed in Lord s Vineyard. 3 Dear Friends, From the Pastor s Desk Last week our Parish celebrated its 1st International Child s Day. Today, I would like to thank from the bottom of my heart all parishioners who helped to organize this event and volunteer throughout the entire time of the festivities. I do not want to omit any names, so I will not mention any names; however I would like to thank all the volunteers who made sure we had food, desserts, ice cream, sweets and beverages for this event. Thank you very much to all who lent us special tents and grills, those who prepared music, provided face painting, supervised games, and those who assured order and safety on the playground. This joyful day gave us opportunity to thank all parish families for daily prayers and weekly offerings to the Church. Those who could not make it we hope to see you next year on the 2nd Parish Children Day (May 27, 2018). Summertime is also a time of change in staff for many parishes. Beginning July 1st changes will also take place here at St. Albert s. Fr. James Beath will take a 1 year leave (sabbatical). Official farewell will take place Saturday, June 24 th after the 5:00 pm Mass in Rogers Hall. Sister Maria is being transferred to the Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish in Sterling Heights, Michigan, and sister Agnieszka to Holy Trinity Polish Mission in Chicago. Farewell reception for Sisters will take place on Sunday, July 2 nd in Rogers Hall. During these days we will have an opportunity to personally thank Fr. James and Sisters for work and service in our church. Next week I will tell you about other changes, which will take effect on July 1 st. I gave much thought and prayed over each decision to assure a better parish life in our Church, office and school. During the course of the year I carefully observed the parish life, and now it s time to make certain improvements which are of importance and benefit for the entire parish. I ask for you to bear with us, for your kindness and prayers in the intention of our parish community and each one of us individually Jesus, I trust in You! Fr. Mariusz TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION It is often heard that today s observance is an idea feast, and that it is somewhat difficult to grasp its meaning. Other great solemnities, such as Christmas and Easter, have an easily grasped core. Yet, even though the Trinity is at the heart of our faith, firmly declared in the Creed since the Council of Nicea in 325, we are used to having people shrug and say, Well, it s a mystery. Perhaps it is more helpful to think of this as a relationship feast, since it unveils our deepest identity. Dorothy Day was a great social reformer, pacifist, and ardent lover of the Trinity. When people told her that she would certainly be canonized one day (the process is indeed underway), she protested dismissively by remarking that people were raising a fuss just because she was not afraid to talk about God. She loved the Trinity, and treasured the traditional icon for the feast, also known as The Hospitality of Abraham, depicting the three angelic beings seated at a table tilted toward the viewer and laden with bread and wine. For her, the Trinity revealed the heart of the Catholic life, three C s if you will: community, communication, and communion. That was not an idea for her, but what it means to be created in the image of the Triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. St. Albert the Great Sacred Heart of Jesus Eucharistic Adoration Chapel is open 7 days per week 8:30 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. Parishioners are needed to commit ONE HOUR per week for a year. 5 Drodzy Parafianie, Z biurka Ks. Proboszcza Tydzień temu w niedzielę (4 czerwca) przeżywaliśmy przy naszym kościele Pierwszy Parafialny Dzień Dziecka. Dziś pragnę z głębi serca podziękować wszystkim tym, którzy przyczynili się do jego zorganizowania i poprowadzenia. Nie będę imiennie wymieniać wszystkich, by kogoś przypadkiem nie pominąć. A zatem dziękuję tym, którzy troszczyli się o nasze wyżywienie, desery, lody, słodycze, zabawki i napoje. Dziękuje tym, którzy użyczyli nam bardzo ochotnie specjalne namioty, kuchenki, gryle oraz miejsca zabaw dla dzieci; dziękuję tym, którzy przygotowali muzykę, malowali twarze i prowadzili zabawy; dziękuje tym, którzy troszczyli się o porządek. Ten dzień był szczególną okazją do tego, aby podziękować wam i waszym rodzinom za to, że co tydzień a nawet codziennie wspieracie modlitwą i ofiarą nasza parafię. Ci, którzy nie byli wraz z nami, niech po prostu żałują! A zatem do siego roku, do zobaczenia na Drugim Parafialnym Dniu Dziecka (27 maja, 2018). Czas letni, który teraz przeżywamy jest czasem zmian personelu zarówno wśród księży jak również wśród sióstr zakonnych. Z dniem 1 lipca te zmiany także nastąpią w naszej parafii. A zatem ksiądz James Beath poprosił o specjalny urlop tzw. sabatical year. Oficjalne pożegnanie księdza James będzie mieć miejsce w sobotę 24 czerwca na Mszy Świętej o godz. 5 popołudniu. Także siostra Maria Niwa i siostra Agnieszka Kortiak przechodzą z naszej parafii na inne placówki. Siostra Maria przechodzi do parafii Matki Bożej Częstochowskiej w Sterling Heights w Michigan, a siostra Agnieszka przechodzi do kościoła św. Trójcy w Chicago. Pożegnanie sióstr odbędzie się w niedzielę 2 lipca. W tych dniach w sali pod kościołem każdy z was będzie mógł osobiście im podziękować za pracę i służbę w naszym kościele. Za tydzień także w biuletynie parafialnym poinformuję was więcej o kolejnych zmianach, które z dniem 1 lipca nastąpią w naszej parafii. Każda z tych zmian jest przeze mnie przemyślana i przemodlona oraz ma na celu jeszcze lepsze usprawnienie życia parafialnego w naszym kościele, biurze i szkole. Przez ostatni rok pilnie przyglądałem się życiu naszej parafii. Nadchodzi więc czas, aby pewne sprawy udogodnić, ulepszyć i ułatwić. Proszę was zatem o wyrozumiałość, życzliwość i modlitwę w intencji naszej wspólnoty parafialnej i każdego z nas. Jezu, ufam Tobie! Fr. More information and order forms are available in the parish office. THE INEXPRESSIBLE MYSTERY The God of the universe is mysterious. Science has not been able to solve the mystery of how the universe came into being or explain exactly what continues to give it creative energy and masterful design. No religion asserts that it has found words to name fully the ineffable mystery of God, for no matter what name we use, God always transcends our limited ability to understand. God is a mystery to be believed, not known. And yet, we Christians believe that our name for God best expresses that inexpressible mystery: God is the Most Holy Trinity of three persons united in a communion of love, pouring forth that creative, saving, sanctifying love into the world.
