Like the Pharisees in today s Gospel, they have places of honor wherever they go. Would you like to follow in their footsteps? The scriptures for today offer different examples for us to follow. Jesus tells us that the greatest among us are the servants. These are the people we are to honor and imitate. 3 From the Pastor s Desk My Dearly Beloved! Today I would like to warmly thank everyone who participated (over 1000 parishioners) in the first Procession of Fatima and Rosary through the streets of our city of Burbank (Saturday, October 28th). A very special thank you goes to the Mayor of our city Mr. Dan Foy, for his kindness shown to us, the Burbank Police and Fire Departments who ensured security for all participants. I would also like to inform you that our Mayor and the City of Burbank Council issued permission for our 2018 Carnival to be held on the parish grounds. I encourage all of you to personally thank our Mayor, Police and Fire Departments and ESDA for all the help and kindness shown to us! Returning to the subject of the Procession and Rosary through the streets of Burbank, I would like to thank all those who made every effort to make our prayer vigil look beautiful. Thank you very much to Rafal Naglak and his family, Wladzia Kowalczyk and family, Carolina Nowobilski and her mother Maria, Wojtek Dorula (radio), Father Wacław Lech, guest priests, our religious sisters and associate pastors. Thank you to altar servers, children, youth and adults, who were carrying a beautiful, large Holy Rosary, thank you to those who carried the statue of Our Lady of Fatima and Our Lady Ludzimierskiej, thank you to all participants, who read the Rosary meditations prepared by sister Weronika, those who recited the Rosary in different languages, our organist Rafal Woźnik for vocals, the Polish Highlanders for making a rosary that was lifted by light breeze into the sky as well as Urszula Michalowski for providing the sound system. I thank all of you for everything and invite you for the Our Lady of Fatima and Rosary Procession next October I hope to see you there! Next Sunday, November 12th at 3:00 pm we will celebrate a special Mass for the souls of the departed whose funerals were held in our church last year. I invite all of you, together with the families of the deceased to participate in this Eucharist. Please, remember that sometime in the future we also will be in need of a spiritual gift of prayer! May this time of meditation during November be filled with hope in the mercy of God and eternal life! Finally, I would like to share with you a very good news from our parish life. Installation of the new heating system in our Catholic school has been finished. Finally, all children and teachers of our five schools will be warm! Also, a new alarm system has been installed in the school, so from now on everyone in the building should feel safe! Following the security regulations and assuring safety for our next year s parish Carnival, security cameras have been installed around the church and all parish buildings. I would like to emphasize that what we do here at St. Albert s we do it for our parish family, and all this is possible because of you. Without your prayers and financial support, we could not carry out so much in such a short time. You are irreplaceable! In a few weeks the Archdiocese of Chicago Annual Catholic Appeal 2017 will come to an end. I ask all who didn t have a chance to fulfill their commitments, please do so by the end of this month. In a few weeks, the Archdiocese will reimburse our all funds in excess of our required goal. Dziś pragnę bardzo gorąco podziękować wszystkim, którzy tydzień temu (sobota 28 październik) uczestniczyli bardzo licznie (ponad tysiąc osób) w Pierwszej Procesji Fatimskiej i Rózańcu ulicami naszego miasta Burbank. Moje specjalne podziękowanie kieruję do burmistrza naszego miasta Mr. Dan Foy za życzliwość i serdeczność nam okazaną. Dziękuję Mr. Dan Foy za pozwolenie na jej zorganizowanie oraz za zapewnienie wszystkim uczestnikom bezpieczeństwa w czasie naszej Procesji Fatimskiej. Pragnę was poinformować, że nasz burmistrz oraz rada miasta Burbank wydały pozwolenie, aby nasz parafialny karnawał już w przyszłym roku 2018 powrócił na nasz parking przed kościołem. Zachęcam was wszystkich, aby każdy z was osobiście podziękował naszym włodarzom miasta za wszelką pomoc i dobroć nam okazaną! Wracając do Procesji i Różańca ulicami Burbank pragnę także podziękować wszystkim tym, którzy dołożyli wszelkich starań, aby nasze modlitewne czuwanie wygladało pięknie. Moje słowa wdzięczności kieruję więc do Rafała Naglak z rodziną, Władzi Kowalczyk z rodziną, Karoliny Nowobilskiej oraz jej mamy Marii, Wojtka Doruli (radio), ojca Wacława Lech, księży gości, dziękuję naszym siostrom zakonnym i naszym księżom wikariuszom, dziękuję ministrantom, dzieciom, młodzieży oraz dorosłym, którzy nieśli piękny duży Różaniec Święty, dziękuję osobom niosącym figurę Matki Bożej Fatimskiej oraz figurę Matki Bożej Ludzimierskiej, dziękuję tym wszystkim, którzy czytali rozważania różańcowe przygotowane przez siostrę Weronikę, dziękuję tym, którzy recytowali modlitwę różańcową w różnych językach, dziękuję naszemu organiście Rafałowi Woźnik za śpiew, dziękuję naszym góralom za przygotowanie specjalnego różańca, który wysłaliśmy do nieba, dziękuję Urszuli Michałowskiej i jej firmie za nagłośnienie oraz dziękuję Policji, Straży Pożarnej oraz innym służbom porządkowym za zapewnienie wszystkim bezpieczeństwa. Dziękuję setkom wiernym, którzy z wiarą uczestniczyli w naszym modlitewnym czuwaniu. Wszystkim za wszystko dziękuję i ogarniam was życzliwą modlitwą! Już dziś zapraszam naszych parafian i wszystkich chętnych do udziału w Procesji Fatimskiej oraz Różańcu 20 pażdziernika (sobota) 2018 roku. Do zobaczenia! Za tydzień, w niedzielę 12 listopada o godz. 3:00 popołudniu w naszym kościele zostanie odprawiona specjalna dodatkowa Msza Święta za duszami zmarłych, których pogrzeby odbyły się w naszej świątyni w ostatnim roku. Do udziału w tej Eucharystii zapraszam szczególnie rodziny, krewnych i przyjaciół tych zmarłych. Pamiętajmy także, że przez cały miesiąc listopad (poniedziałek, środa i piątek) o godz. 7:00 wieczorem w kościele modlimy się za zmarłymi w czasie tzw. Wypominek. Serdecznie wszystkich zapraszam do wspólnej modlitwy. My też w przyszłości będziemy potrzebować tego duchowego daru modlitwy! Niech czas listopadowej zadumy nad życiem i śmiercią będzie wypełniony nadzieją w Boże Miłosierdzie i Życie Wieczne! I na koniec pragnę podzielić się z wami kolejnymi bardzo dobrymi wiadomościami w życiu naszej parafii. Otóż, w budynku naszej katolickiej szkoły zakończono pracę przy zainstalowaniu nowego systemu grzewczego. Wreszcie wszystkim dzieciom oraz nauczycielom naszych pięciu szkół będzie ciepło! Zainstalowano także w budynku szkoły nowy system przeciwpożarowy. A zatem wszyscy przebywający w budynku szkoły powinni się czuć bezpieczni! Kierując się także względami bezpieczeństwa i patrząc w przyszłość (karnawał) zainstalowano kamery wokół wszystkich budynków przy naszym kościele. Raz jeszcze podkreślam, że to wszystko co robimy dla dobra naszej wspólnoty parafialnej jest tylko i wyłącznie waszą ogromną zasługą i bez waszej pomocy tak modlitewnej jak i materialnej nie udało by się nam tego wszystkiego dokonać w tak krótkim czasie! Jesteście niezastąpieni! Za kilka tygodni zakończymy w naszej Diecezji Chicago Coroczną Akcję Katolicką Bardzo was proszę, aby każdy kto się zobowiązał wesprzeć to dzieło w 2017 roku wywiązał się ze swoich zobowiązań finansowych. Za kilka bowiem tygodni Diecezja wróci naszej parafii wpłaconą przez was nadwyżkę. Bóg zapłać za wszystko co robicie z miłości i wierności dla dobra naszej parafii! Na czas wzrastania w wierze, nadziei, miłości, ufności i prawdziwej chrześcijańskiej radości niech nam wszystkim towarzyszy Jezusowe błogosławieństwo! Jezu, ufam Tobie Ks. If you said the Vatican, or St. Peter s, you were off by a few miles, since the answer is the Basilica of St. John, the Lateran, the Mother Church of all the churches of the world and the cathedral of the Diocese of Rome. It takes its name from the Lateran family, the Trumps of their day, who somehow ran afoul of the Emperor Nero. He seized all their property, including their vast Roman palace and estate. We don t know how Plautius displeased Nero so badly, but eventually all the Lateran property came to Constantine, the first Christian emperor, through his wife, Fausta. Early in the fourth century, when Christianity was at last legalized, Constantine gave the property to the church. Soon the great meeting halls were expanded and adapted. Over the centuries, the church building has been sacked by armies, ruined by fire, torn down, and rebuilt. The oldest and most unchanged part of the Lateran is a vast, separate baptistery with steps leading down to a huge green basalt pool. Imagine what a triumphal moment the dedication of this public church building was for a community that had worshiped in secret for so long! This Thursday s feast of the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica is really about the tradition of consecrating space for worship, and so by extension, a feast for your parish church building and, given the beautiful second reading, for its baptistery as well.
