By concluding the year with this feast we are proclaiming our faith that Jesus Christ is the one and only king over all seasons, all peoples, and all of creation. At the end of time as we know it, Christ s work of restoring all things to unity and harmony with their Creator God will be completed. This Sunday, when we claim Christ as both our Shepherd and our King, we recognize our own calling to participate in Christ s saving work by caring for those whom Jesus calls the least ones (Matthew 25:45). 3 My Dear Friends! From the Pastor s Desk I hope you had a great Thanksgiving Holiday and got a chance to taste many delicious dishes. Some of us probably still can remember the wonderful smell coming from our home kitchens. In the liturgy of the Catholic Church we are celebrating today the last Sunday in Ordinary Time, which we call the Christ the King of the Universe. Therefore, let us thank the King of the Universe for all the graces that we and our loved ones received in the recent months. It is hard to believe that Advent is only one week away. Let us use this time to spiritually prepare for the celebration of the birth of Jesus and the Christmas Holiday. During Advent you will be able to purchase (after Saturday and Sunday Masses) beautiful Nativity scenes and Christmas decorations, which will wonderfully adorn any Christmas dinner table and home, or even make a thoughtful gift. Next week I will give you the exact schedule of our parish Advent confessions. Please note, on Sunday 17 December we will have a special collection for Christmas flowers and decorations for our church. Your support is much needed and appreciated. This year for Christmas, we will have for our children a Nativity scene with live animals. I hope that not only children but also adults will be very pleased with this unique live Nativity presentation. Please invite often your families, loved ones, friends and acquaintances to our St. Albert the Great Church. May the upcoming days of Advent bring you and your families many blessings! Mariusz TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION Today we have a modern feast, less than a century old, and placed at the very end of the liturgical cycle of Sundays only in In 1925, the world was in a sorry state from the vantage point of Pope Pius XI. The winds of war had swept the map of Europe raw, and ancient Christian dynasties had fallen in Russia and Spain. Although the Great War had ended, wars were breaking out everywhere. Fascism was already in control in Italy, and Nazism was on the horizon for Germany. The disorder making its claim on the human race was, the pope felt, an insult to the Divine Order. Pius XI designated the last Sunday in October as a day of universal recognition of the kingship of Christ. Creating this feast was an act of bravery by the pope, who was standing up against idolatry of the state and the dehumanizing forces of the modern world, things that are not hard to detect in today s world as well. In 1969 it seemed fitting to move the feast to a place of honor at the end of the year, a way of summing up the whole movement of the liturgical year toward the perfection of the Kingdom of God. In recent decades, many Protestant churches have adopted this day from the new Roman calendar, so it is shared now with the Church of England, the Episcopal, Presbyterian, and Lutheran churches, and others. 5 Z biurka Ks. Proboszcza Moi Drodzy Przyjaciele! Mam nadzieję, że mieliście wspaniałe Święto Dziękczynienia i wszystkim badzo smakowały świąteczne potrawy. Wciąż wielu z nas czuje wyśmienite zapachy płynące z naszych domowych kuchni. W liturgii Kościoła Katolickiego przeżywamy dziś ostatnią niedzielę, którą nazywamy Niedzielą Chrystusa Króla Wszechświata. A zatem podziękujmy raz jeszcze Królowi Wszechświata za kończący się rok liturgiczny i za wszelkie łaski jakie na nas i na naszych bliskich spłynęły w ostatnim czasie. Aż się wierzyć nie chce, że za tydzień rozpoczynamy w Kościele Katolickim czas Adwentu. Wykorzystajmy ten czas na jak najlepsze duchowe przygotowanie się do Świąt Bożego Narodzenia (roraty, spowiedź, rekolekcje). To dla was i dla waszych dzieci organizujemy w okresie Adwentu w każdą środę o godz. 5:00 popołudniu specjalną Mszę Roratnią. Do udziału w tej wyjatkowej Mszy zapraszamy wszystkie dzieci naszej parafii i naszych szkół. Dzieci zachęcamy do tego, aby przy pomocy swoich rodziców przygotowały własnoręcznie zrobione lampiony roratnie. Najpiękniejsze lampiony zostaną nagrodzone. Także w okresie Adwentu będziemy mogli zakupić piękne stroiki i szopki Bożonarodzeniowe, które niech upiekszą nasze stoły i domy. W następnym tygodniu podam wam dokładny rozkład spowiedzi adwentowej w naszej parafii oraz podam wam informację na temat rekolekcji adwentowych. Pamiętajmy też, że w niedzielę 17 grudnia będziemy mieć specjalną składkę na kwiaty i dekoracje Bożonarodzeniowe. Nowością w tym roku będzie żywa szopka wraz ze zwierzętami. Mam nadzieję, że nie tylko dzieci, ale także dorośli będą bardzo lubieć naszą wyjątkową żywą szopkę. Proszę was, abyście zapraszali jak najczęściej do naszego parafialnego kościoła-wieczernika swoich krewnych, bliskich, przyjaciół i znajomych.
