This year, the story is set against the backdrop of the first reading from Genesis, which recounts the very first temptation by the devil. That story is set in a garden of delight. The Gospel story is set in the desert. As believers, we know that temptation comes our way in our own gardens of delight as well as the deserts of our lives. As Lent begins, our attention is drawn to that temptation within each of us to become like God we want control, power, and answers to all of life s difficult questions. As communities of faith, we are given this season of repentance so that we can join our hearts with others on the difficult journey of conversion. We look to God and to one another for strength against temptation. From the Pastor s Desk Dear Friends! Two weeks ago we began the Annual Catholic Appeal Campaign: Love your neighbor as yourself. Additional envelopes, for parishioners who would like to participate in the Annual Catholic Appeal, but didn t get a chance to make their pledges; appeal envelopes are available in the back of the church. They may be returned to the parish office or dropped in the collection basket during any Sunday Mass. Lent already began. During this time we meditate on the mysteries of the cross and the death of Jesus. Please, join us for the Stations of the Cross on Fridays and let us, during this Lent, remain a one loving parish family. During this important time of the liturgical year let us pray, fast and give alms. In the back of the church we have the Operation Rice Bowl containers, which you may take home and fill with coins. Your offerings will help needy people around the world and our community. Please bring your offerings back to church on Palm Sunday. On the usher s table, in the back of the church, we have for you the Holy Week Schedules with dates and times of the parish Confessions and Holy Week Masses. Please make sure to take one home with you. Having this schedule at home will make it easier for you and your family to keep in touch with our church. Please, remember to attend our Fish Fry Fridays, where you can enjoy a delicious dinner at very reasonable price. Jesus, I trust in You! Fr. Mariusz Raul Duque, a parishioner of St. Albert the Great, is scheduled to be ordained to the Order of Deacon on May 13, 2017 at Holy Name Cathedral by Cardinal Blase J. Cupich, Archbishop of Chicago. This is a public announcement of the upcoming ordination and fulfills the canonical requirement. Catholics are obliged to reveal any concerns, impediments or circumstances that could prevent Raul Duque from receiving Sacred Orders and should contact the pastor or the Cardinal with such information as soon as possible if there is a serious question about the candidate s suitability for ordained ministry. Z biurka Ks. Proboszcza Drodzy Parafianie! Dwa tygodnie temu przeżywaliśmy w naszej Diecezji Chicago i w naszej parafii Coroczną Kwestę Katolicką pod hasłem: Kochaj bliźniego swego jak siebie samego. Gdyby ktoś z was chciałby jeszcze złożyć specjalną ofiarę na ten to w tyle naszego kościoła można wziaść i wypełnić specjalną kopertkę z zobowiązaniem finansowym. To zobowiązanie finansowe można wrzucić do koszyka w czasie zbierania niedzielnej składki. Trwa czas Wielkiego Postu, czas kiedy rozważamy tajemnicę Krzyża i śmierci Pana Jezusa, czas kiedy wspólnie w piątki celebrujemy nabożeństwa Drogi Krzyżowej w języku angielskim, polskim i hiszpańskim oraz celebrujemy nasze polskie Gorzkie Żale w niedzielę. Proszę was wszystkich, byśmy w tym świętym czasie Postu byli jedną kochającą się rodziną parafialną. Praktykujmy także w tym czasie uczynki postne: post, modlitwę i jałmużnę. Dziś po każdej Mszy Świętej możemy także zabrać do naszych domów małe papierowe skarbonki zwane miski ryżu. Do nich wrzucajmy nasze drobne ofiary, które w przyszłości wesprą ubogich w krajach misyjnych. Te skarbonki miski ryżu przyniesiemy z powrotem do naszego kościoła w Niedzielę Palmową. Bardzo was także proszę, abyście dziś zabrali ze sobą specjalne kartki z rozkładem naszych parafialnych spowiedzi, nabożeństw w Wielkim Tygodniu, z godzinami święceń pokarmów wielkanocnych oraz z rozkładem nabożeństw w Wielkanoc i w drugi dzień Świąt. Połóżcie ten rozkład na lodówce lub na stole i miejcie go nieustannie przed oczami. Z pewnością ten rozkład ułatwi kontakt z naszym ukochanym kościołem. Za tydzień w niedzielę 12marca rozpoczynamy nasze wielkopstne rekolekcje parafialne w języku polskim. Poprowadzi je o. Łukasz Buksa, franciszkanin. Więcej informacji na jego temat znajdziemy w biuletynie parafialnym. Rekolekcje nasze potrwają do środy 15 marca. Kazania rekolekcyjne będą głoszone w niedziele w czasie wszystkich polskich nabożeństw oraz w poniedziałek, wtorek i środę o godz. 12 w południe i o godz. 7 wieczorem. Serdecznie zapraszamy! W tym samym czasie będziemy mieć także rekolekcje dla wszystkich dzieci naszej parafii w sąsiednim budynku zwanym St. Albert Room o godz. 7 wieczorem! Pamiętajmy o naszych piątkowych obiadach rybnych od godz. 4:00 do 7:30 wieczorem. Drodzy panowie i mężowie proszę was przyjdźcie waszym paniom i żoną z ulgą oraz pomocą.
