From the Pastor s Desk My Dearly Beloved! Over a week ago we ordered from Italy two bas-relief sculptures; one of Our Lady of Sorrows and one of St. John the Evangelist (they represent the scene at the foot of the cross). I hope that these bas-reliefs will arrive by Christmas to be placed in our newly renovated presbytery. This thought of enrichment for our presbytery around Jesus Crucified came from you. Thank you very much for this beautiful and noble idea. If anyone of you, your family members or friends would like to make a monetary gift toward this undertaking please contact me or the parish office. I will be forever grateful! As always, I am counting on your help and thank you in advance from the depths of my heart for your financial help (donations) which allow our parish to realize this new project. I know that I can always count on you because you have never disappointed me! Together we can do everything! Today, in a special way, I would like to thank Mr. John Kurpiel (owner) and Mr. Wieslaw Skiba (driver) of the J.J. Trucking Company for help in organizing of the bottled water cases donated by our parishioners for the children from the Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School in Texas City, TX, which was flooded by 95%. Thank you very much for your great hearts and help for the hurricane victims. In the near future (before winter) we need to repair the detached concrete slabs, bricks, and joints on the roof over the south Cry Room. Over the years, the slabs, brick, and joints have been damaged by the rain, snow, and frost. To avoid further damages, it is necessary to make these repairs before the winter. Also, step by step, in the Annex of St. Albert's Room, we are working on a new lunchroom for all children that attend our parish school. This is necessary, because of the public health requirements and good hygiene. Through the intercession of Our Lady of the Rosary and St. Albert the Great we ask God for His blessing as we begin this important for our parish undertaking. Jesus, I trust in You! Fr. Mariusz Envelopes for All Souls Day are available on the ushers tables. Envelopes have also been included in the October / November packet. Z biurka Ks. Proboszcza Moi Kochani! Ponad tydzień temu zostały zamówione we Włoszech dwie płaskorzeźby Matki Bożej Bolesnej i św. Jana Ewangelisty (scena pod krzyżem). Mam nadzieję, że te płaskorzeźby jeszcze przed Świętami Bożego Narodzenia zostaną umieszczone w naszym odnowionym prezbiterium. Ten pomysł ubogacenia naszego prezbiterium wokół Jezusa Ukrzyżowanego wyszedł od was. Jesteście zawsze do tańca i do różańca! Jezu, ufam Tobie Fr. TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION In 1971, the Vatican Congregation for Divine Worship completed a survey of the presidents of the national liturgical commissions around the world. How were children doing in the liturgical reform? Probably to their surprise, the cardinals learned of special weekday Masses for children designed to teach them how to participate on Sunday, Masses with separate components for children. The decision was made quickly to develop adaptations for Masses where children were a majority of the assembly. Changes would include a simpler structure, understandable texts, a simplified Lectionary, more active participation, and most surprisingly, new Eucharistic Prayers. By 1973 the work was done, and with very specific advice from Pope Paul VI, including the need for two new Eucharistic Prayers, the Directory for Masses with Children was published on December 20, a timely Christmas gift for the children of the world. The prayers are the first to be written fresh in a modern language not Latin, but French and German then translated into English, Italian, and Spanish. With a sense of caution, these new prayers were approved for three years, until 1977, but it soon became apparent that they had truly been embraced. Rev. James Field, Copyright J. S. Paluch Co.
