From the Pastor s Desk My Dearly Beloved! Last week I received from the Archdiocese of Chicago a special Annual Catholic Appeal Report for 2016/2017. While reading it, because of you, I felt great pride! Our last year's goal was to collect $54,436.66. It turns out that the total amount pledged by our parishioners was $74,548.00. As of today families paid $65,459.70. I thank all of you, who participated in the Annual Catholic Appeal and embrace you and your families, your joys and your sorrows with my priestly prayer. At the same time, I humbly ask, especially those who have not yet fulfilled their pledges, please do so as soon as possible. Let us remember that the commitments we make should always be binding! If we can collect all of the declared amount, at the end of the year, our parish will receive from the Archdiocese of Chicago a refund of over $20,000.00. Once again, I embrace all parishioners and visitors with my kind prayers and ask for God s blessings for each one of you, I especially pray for the sick and suffering in our parish and community. Mariusz TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION Eucharistic Prayer IV is, like Eucharistic Prayer III, a fresh composition from the 1960s, based on a prayer from the tradition of the ancient church of Alexandria. It has an interesting structural feature. The new prayers all nod toward the East with the epiclesis, or calling down of the Spirit, over the gifts. In this prayer the Spirit is asked to come down again, after the consecration, to make holy the communicants who partake of this one Bread and one Chalice that, gathered into one body by the Holy Spirit, they may truly become a living sacrifice in Christ to the praise of your glory. This beautiful phrase is well worth meditating on. What is the goal of your reception of Holy Communion today? The preface for this Eucharistic Prayer is firmly attached to the prayer, and the directives for using the prayer anchor it to Ordinary Time. It is not intended to be an option if the Mass has a proper preface of its own, like a funeral, a Lenten weekday, or a great feast. It is not often used these days, in part because of these limitations. At first, it was suggested that this prayer was better suited to small groups of people who were well educated in scripture. Moi Kochani! Z biurka Ks. Proboszcza W ostatnim tygodniu otrzymałem z naszej Archidiecezji Chicago specjalny raport dotyczący Dorocznej Kwesty Katolickiej 2016/2017. Czytając go czułem wielką dumę z was! Naszym zeszłorocznym celem było zebranie $ 54,436.66. Okazuje się, że osoby i rodziny które zaangażowały się w to dzieło zadeklarowały złożenie znacznie większej sumy pieniędzy na kwotę aż $ 74,548.00. Na dzień dzisiejszy wpłacono już $ 65,459.70. Wszystkim tym, którzy zaangażowali się w Doroczną Kwestę Katolicką 2016/2017 składam serdeczne podziękowanie. Wszystkich was, wasze rodziny, radości oraz smutki ogarniam gorliwą kapłańską modlitwą. Jednocześnie z pokorą was proszę, szczególnie tych, którzy jeszcze w całości nie uregulowali swoich zobowiazań o ich dokonanie. Pamiętajmy, że słowa i nasze zobowiązania powinny mieć zawsze moc wiążącą! Jeśli uda się nam osiągnąć zadeklarowaną kwotę to pod koniec roku otrzymamy zwrot z Diecezji na ponad $ 20,000.00. Raz jeszcze ogarniam wszystkich parafian i modlących się w naszym kościele swoją modlitwą. W sposób szczególny modlę się za chorych i cierpiących z naszej wspólnoty parafialnej i z naszych rodzin. Cały dochód ze sprzedaży będzie przeznaczony na pokrycie kosztów ich wyjazdu. ***Grupa Pro-Life przy naszej parafii będzie za tydzień rozdawać specjalne małe buteleczki dziecięce, które możemy napełnić drobnymi ofiarami. Fundusze w ten sposób zebrane zasilą Dom Samotnej Matki. ***W przyszłości obok krzyża Pana Jezusa w prezbiterium zostaną umieszczone płaskorzeźby św. Jana Apostoła i Matki Bożej Bolesnej. Osoby zainteresowane ufundowaniem tych płaskorzeźb proszone są o kontakt z ks. Mariuszem. Siostry Beata i Wioletta zapraszają wszystkie chętne dzieci oraz młodzież na próby: - poniedziałek o godz. 6:00 popołudniu grupa teatralna (zapraszamy także rodziców); - wtorek o godz. 6:00 popołudniu schola dziecięca. Próby odbywają się w budynku administracyjnym. Towarzystwo Św, Vincentego zwraca się z prośbą o donację niepsującego się jedzenia (w puszkach,w słoikach, makaron,ryz, płatki śniadaniowe i tym podobne) dla biednych w naszej parafii i Burbank. The sentiments expressed in today s first reading seem to be a direct reaction to the Gospel passage we heard last week. In that Gospel, the landowner pays the same wages to his workers whether they worked for a full day or for only a few minutes. Today Ezekiel gives us the lament, The LORD s way is not fair! (Ezekiel 18:25). These Sundays in Ordinary Time offer us a glimpse into the ways of the Lord. We see how God s way has the tendency to turn the accepted conventions of the day upside down. Those who always expected that their way to heaven was guaranteed are disappointed. Those who thought they never had a chance are given that chance.
