The first, a vision reported by the prophet Daniel, was well known to Jesus and his apostles. The vision account was written in quite mystical and figurative language. It is a vision of heaven, powerful and memorable. There are flames of fire, burning wheels, the Ancient One, and a Son of Man. Clearly, Daniel saw something. But was it a dream? Was it real? Was it merely a clever myth? Peter wants no such confusion about his vision! We are told in Matthew s Gospel what he and his friends James and John saw when they went up on the mountain with Jesus one day. Jesus warned the three witnesses to tell no one until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead (Matthew 17:9). Lest readers of one of the Gospels discount the story or simply write it off as a pious myth, Peter gives his own account of the Transfiguration of Jesus in his second letter to the church. He writes with authority, as an eyewitness. He reports this message from God concerning Jesus: This is my Son, my beloved, with whom I am well pleased, and he assures us that the message is altogether reliable (2 Peter 1:17, 19). Dear Parishioners! From the Pastor s Desk We are just two and a half weeks away from our Parish Carnival (August 24th, 25th, 26th, and 27th) in Bridgeview at the intersection of the street 79th Street and Harlem Ave. Let us pray for great - sunny weather, participants safety, and all parishioners support and attendance. We are still selling Mega passes for all carnival rides. Mega pass, only $50.00 each- could make a wonderful gift for your children. This year, in addition to the local food vendors, we will sell dishes from our international parish kitchens. Thursday we will have the Filipino food, Friday Mexican, Saturday Polish, Sunday - Parish Sweet Table, and coffee. In addition this year we will hold Bingo games. We are still in need of carnival volunteers. Also, anyone that is able to make a donation to the Carnival Silent Auction, please bring your items to the parish office. I thank you for all your help and embrace you with my prayers. In a special way, I would like to thank parishioners who devoted time for cleaning and maintenance of our church, Rogers Hall, the administration building, and the parish grounds. On their chosen Sunday we will pray for the intention of their family and will place a special thank you note in the parish bulletin. Proboszcza Za ponad 2 tygodnie (24,25,26 i 27 sierpień) celebrować będziemy nasz Parafialny Karnawał w Bridgeview na skrzyżowaniu ulicy 79 Str. i Harlem Ave. Módlmy się o dobrą i słoneczną pogodę na czas karnawału; módlmy się o bezpieczeństwo w czasie tych dni; módlmy się o liczną frekwencję oraz módlmy się, aby nasz karnawał w przyszłości wrócił na plac przed naszym kościołem. W dalszym ciągu możemy zakupić dla dzieci i młodzieży tzw. Mega Pass (specjalny bilet na wszystkie karuzele we wszystkie dni karnawału). Cena Mega Pass wynosi 50 $ i może to być wspaniały upominek z okazji zakończenia wakacji dla waszych pociech. Nowością w tym roku w czasie karnawału będzie nasza parafialna, międzynarodowa kuchnia. W czwartek będziemy kosztować potrawy filipińskie, w piątek potrawy meksykańskie, w sobotę delektować się będziemy jedzeniem polskim, a w niedziele będziemy mieć parafialny słodki stół z kubkiem wyśmienitej i smacznej kawy. Ponadto w czasie karnawału będziemy mieć bingo. W dalszym ciągu potrzebujemy wolontariuszy do pomocy przy karnawale. Wszystkich chętnych do pomocy prosimy o kontakt z kancelarią. Proszę was także o przynoszenie nowych rzeczy, które w czasie naszego karnawału wezmą udział w tzw. loterii fantowej. Wszystkie te rzeczy proszę przynosić do kancelarii parafialnej. Za wszelką pomoc na rzecz karnawału z głębi serca dziękuję i ogarniam was moją życzliwą i gorliwą modlitwą. Dziś pragnę także skierować słowa wdzięczności i podziękowań dla osób, które w ostatnim tygodniu w różnoraki sposób pomagali nam w utrzymaniu porządku w kościele, w sali pod kościołem, w budynku administracyjnym czy też wokół naszych budynków parafialnych. A zatem wdzięcznością i modlitwą ogarniam: Agnieszkę i Leszka Kunda, Antonio Gudino, Mieczysława Sas, Annę i Andrzeja, Małgorzatę Kułach, Helenę Antoł, Janinę Pawlikowski i Józefa Guzy. Od pierwszej niedzieli miesiąca sierpnia tj. od dziś każda rodzina naszej parafii będzie mieć możliwość ufundowania dwóch bukietów kwiatów przy tabernakulum z Najświętszym Sakramentem. W zakrystii znajduje się specjalny kalendarz z rozpisem wszystkich niedziel na którym możemy zapisać imię i nazwisko swojej rodziny. W intencji tych rodzin, które ufundowały kwiaty modlić się będziemy w każdą niedzielę oraz w naszym biuletynie umieścimy specjalne podziękowanie. Niech ten bukiet dwóch kwiatów będzie także formą wdzięczności dla Jezusa, który codziennie obdarza nas i naszych bliskich morzem łask. Prace remontowe w szkole (bojler, system przeciwpożarowy, kamery wokół placu zabaw dla dzieci)) przebiegają pomyślnie i na pewno zostaną ukończone przed rozpoczęciem nowego roku szkolnego i katechetycznego. Również prace w prezbiterium dobiegają końca. Zostały zamówione nowe poręcze z pięknymi religijnymi symbolami. Ponadto zostały zamówione nowe, dłuższe i lepszej jakości mikrofony. Po zainstalowaniu nowych poręczy zostanie zainstalowana nowa ambonka z symbolami czterech Ewangelistów. Na drugiej ambonce zostaną zainstalowane także litery Alpha i Omega. Za wszystko co robicie dla dobra naszej Wspólnoty Parafialnej niech wam za wstawiennictwem św. Alberta Wielkiego Pan Jezus błogosławi. Szczęść Boże! Page 5 Jezu, ufam Tobie! Fr.
