TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION The achievement of the late 1960s and early 1970s in enriching the euchology or words of thanksgiving available in the Church s prayer is important on many levels. Ecumenically, it means that the Latin Rite now reflects the wealth of the East in having more than one prayer available to the Church. Pastorally, it actually acknowledges the place of the assembly in prayer, which is particularly clear in the Masses with Children. In fact, the traditional prayers of the Eastern Church served as models for our new prayers. In the East, what we call the Eucharistic Prayer is called the anaphora, and there are three main families of anaphora. Each family has a different recipe for arranging the usual parts of these prayers. All anaphora have intercessions included, but the Churches of Antioch place them toward the end of the prayer, Alexandria prefers them at the beginning before the Holy, Holy, and Syria puts them at the very end. One branch of the Syrian family is unique in not mentioning the words of Jesus at the Last Supper. The Roman Canon we once prayed exclusively has some connection with the Alexandrian family, but once the signal for creativity was given, all the wealth of every prayer tradition was on the table, and our Sunday Mass has been greatly enriched. From the Pastor s Desk Dear Parishioners! Today in our parish and all parishes of the Diocese of Chicago we celebrate the Missionary Sunday. Let us support with prayers and offering the Missionary work of the Church. I urge all parents to register their children for our parish school (Polish Schools; Fr. Ignacy Posadzy and Adam Mickiewicz, CCD program for children who attend public schools and the SPRED program for children with special needs). In a special way, I invite all parents to register their children for the St. Albert the Great Grammar School. Why? Because only in the Catholic schools children pray daily, on a weekly basis attend Holy Mass, celebrate First Friday devotions to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, once a month a Sunday Family Mass, all children wear the same uniforms there are no designer clothes to show off or compete with, hot lunch is served every day, children get many opportunities to enjoy a beautiful playground. Our school is very safe now and we have lowered the tuition for the 2017/2018 school year. In the beginning of September, we will offer a bilingual preschool program (English/Polish & English/Spanish). Preschool is available all or half a day 3 to 5 days per week. We have Polish and Spanish speaking secretaries and teachers. Registration flyers are available on the table in the back of the church. For more information, please call the school office and speak with Mrs. Kasia Krol. Dear Parents: please invest in the Catholic education for your children!!! It is really worth it!!! Please, realize that not even the best public school will teach your children religious values. I count on your wisdom and responsibility!!! In a few weeks (August 24, 25, 26 and 27th) we will celebrate our Parish Carnival. Festivities will take place in Bridgeview at the intersection of 79th Street and Harlem Avenue. Let us pray for good - sunny weather, participants safety, and all parishioners attendance and support. We are still selling Mega passes for all rides during four days of the Carnival. Megapass cost is $50.00 each and would make a wonderful gift for your children. This year at the Carnival we will have own food stand where we will serve tasty dishes from our international parish kitchens. Thursday we will have the Filipino food, Friday Mexican, Saturday Polish, Sunday - Parish Sweet Table, and delicious coffee. In addition this year we will have Bingo games. Please know that we are still in need of carnival volunteers, anyone that is able to help, please contact the parish office. We are also in need of donations for the Carnival Silent Auction. Please bring your donations to the parish office. I thank you for all help and donations for the carnival and embrace you with kind prayer. As the summer continues, many of our parishioners leave on so much deserved vacations or enjoy local area picnics. Because of this we see a decline in parishioner attendance, and the Sunday offerings (collection is lower by $1,000.00 or so). I am convinced that after vacations everything will return to normal. When you leave on extended vacation, please remember about the material support of our parish even at the time of your absence. For everything you do for our parish, for the priests and nuns, through the intersection of St. Albert the Great, may Our Good Lord always bless you and reward you. Jesus, I Trust in You! Fr. Moi Drodzy! Z biurka Ks. W sposób szczególny zachęcam rodziców do zapisywania swoich pociech do naszej Katolickiej Szkoły św. Alberta Wielkiego. Dlaczego? Proszę was Kochani Rodzice: zainwestujcie w katolickie wychowanie swoich dzieci!!! W czwartek będziemy kosztować potrawy filipińskie, w piątek potrawy meksykańskie, w sobotę delektować się będziemy jedzeniem polskim, a w niedziele będziemy mieć parafialny słodki stół z kubkiem wyśmienitej i smacznej kawy. Ponadto w czasie karnawału będziemy mieć bingo. W dalszym ciągu potrzebujemy wolontariuszy do pomocy przy karnawale. Wszystkich chętnych do pomocy prosimy o kontakt z kancelarią. Wszystkie te rzeczy proszę przynosić do kancelarii parafialnej. Kontynuujemy wakacje. Wielu z was wyjeżdża wraz z całymi rodzinami na zasłużone urlopy, wielu z was bierze także udział w piknikach tu i tam. Jezu, ufam Tobie! Fr. Mariusz Trwają zapisy do Angielskiej Szkoły Katolickiej i Polsko Angielskiego przedszkola przy Parafii Św. Alberta. LISTEN TO YOUR DREAMS God visits Solomon in a dream, and the scripture story nowhere tells us that Solomon awoke to have this conversation with God! So, still in his dream, Solomon answers God s question about what he desires most, and God grants his request for wisdom in abundance. In our waking hours, we are much distracted by work, home, family, traffic, entertainment, and many worries. When we try to think about what we really want out of life, we have trouble even imagining what that might be. But deep inside, our real longings dwell, known to God and to the Holy Spirit. Our dreams, unencumbered by defenses, may hold clues to what our deepest needs are, or what bothers us most. They could be God speaking.
