The presiders gave thanks from their hearts, not from any prearranged text, over the gifts of bread and wine. When the assembly had the sense that enough was said, someone would call out Amen! and that was that. For the most part, the plan flowed directly from Jewish meal prayers, which always recalled God s mighty deeds. Some other markers and signposts were added almost everywhere fairly early, like the presider s call to attention: Lift up your hearts! Scholars have provided us with translations of many early texts. These have actually helped us craft new liturgical prayers, because until the liturgical reforms of forty years ago, no one could recall any prayer but the Roman Canon, now called Eucharistic Prayer I. For hundreds of years in the West, it was our only Eucharistic Prayer, and it was only in Latin. But the history of our Eucharistic Prayers is amazingly fruitful, and models have come down to us that have yielded new insights and expressions. The old custom of improvising texts according to a master plan has not endured, but we have now rediscovered a plan of standardizing the text while allowing for a great variety. Rev. James Field, Copyright J. S. Paluch Co. WALKING TOWARD GOD If we walk one step toward God, God will run ten steps toward us. My Dearly Beloved, From the Pastor s Desk You still continue to amaze me. Why? Because almost every day and every week, I meet with so many manifestations of your love and concern for our parish. At this point I would like to thank an anonymous parishioner who funded the statue of St. Michael the Archangel, which is now in the back of our Church. I would like to thank Krys Maśnica for making several special easels which we will use now for hanging posters and various ads (instead of taping them on the front doors to our Church). I would like to thank Teresa and Rafal Zapotoczny for planting flowers by the main entrance of our parish school and Maria and Stanislaw Nowobilski for planting flowers in the garden by the St. Francis statue. Thank you very much to Agnieszka and Leszek Kunda for cleaning up Rogers Hall and all storage areas and the kitchen. Many thanks go to the parents of the First Communion Children, Club Polonia and the Living Rosary Group for the preparation of all the beautiful altars for the Corpus Christi procession last Sunday. Thank you to our lectors, the Missionary Sisters, and the priests for their help and the presence at the time of the procession, Rafal for providing vocals and sound, all who carried banners, statues and the canopy and of course all the parishioners who took part in this public profession of faith in Jesus in the Eucharist as well as the altar servers and all the children for pouring flower petals during the procession at the feet of the Lord Jesus. Thank you very much for your support and understanding, and kindness toward some of the changes that will take place on July 1st in our parish community. Many times in the last few days I have heard from you the following comments: "these changes make sense, finally, there will be no proliferation of services and their prolonging. Thank you again for these good words, your kindness and understanding! As I mentioned a week ago it is very important that each ethnic group in our Church receives the best service. The upcoming changes were guided by the following criteria: knowledge of a given language, knowledge of and respect for different traditions and culture, like "compassion" and openness to diversity. Good priests spread joy and love and as Pope Francis said; they go out among their flocks and know the people they serve like shepherds living with the smell of the sheep. Let us remember that the Catholic Church was, is and will be forever rich in its diversity. That is why I am very pleased to tell you that beginning July 1st, Father Joseph Mol will celebrate the Holy Mass in our church more often and our Spanish-speaking parishioners will receive an Associate Pastor, Fr. Bernardo Lozano Hernandez. Please, welcome our priests with open arms and open hearts! I wish all parishioners and guests of St. Albert Church a blessed, happy and a safe weekend! Jesus, I trust in You! Fr. Mariusz FEAR NOT How do people find hope in the face of suffering and death? That is the question addressed by today s scriptures. We hear of the suffering of Jeremiah and the psalmist. We hear of the death that reigned from Adam to Moses (Romans 5:14). We hear of the fears of the Twelve as Jesus sends them out into the world to preach and heal. Through all this tribulation one message rings out loud and clear Do not be afraid! The God who saved Jeremiah and the psalmist and Jesus is fully present to save us through the gracious gift of Jesus Christ. We have nothing and no one to fear. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co., Inc. Z biurka Ks. Proboszcza Moi Drodzy! Wciąż nie przestajecie mnie zadziwiać. Dlaczego? Proszę was przyjmijcie naszych księży z otwartymi rękoma i otwartymi sercami! Wszystkim parafianom i gościom życzę błogosławionego tygodnia oraz szczęśliwych, radosnych i bezpiecznych wakacji! Jezu, ufam Tobie Ks. 7 do 10 wieczorem. Zapraszamy do wspólnej modlitwy. 9:00, 10:30; 12:00 i 1:30 pm.) będziemy mogli osobiście podziękować s. Marii i s. Agnieszce za ich posługę w naszej parafii. Page 5
