Mariusz and the Parish Staff PARISH OFFICE AND THE ADORATION CHAPEL WILL BE CLOSED TUESDAY 7/4/2017 TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION It s Independence Day week, and there is a link worth tracing between the Declaration of Independence and the language of liturgy. One of the signers of the Declaration on that July 4 long ago was Charles Carroll, probably the wealthiest man in the colonies and one of the few Catholics on the political scene. As a flourish to his signature, he sought to distinguish himself from other prominent citizens bearing the same name by penning Charles Carroll of Carrolltown a defiant come and get me if you dare postscript aimed at the British. Carroll s brother John was a priest and patriot who in 1789 was given the task of organizing the Catholic Church in this country. By 1791 he had assembled a synod, or assembly of delegates, to launch that task formally. Archbishop Carroll wanted to gain acceptance of our faith by American people who mistrusted our customs and could not comprehend our liturgy. He made the amazing proposal to Rome that our liturgy should be prayed not in Latin, but in the vernacular, English. His wish was denied, but one hundred sixty years later, his deep desire helped the American bishops and scholars at the Second Vatican Council to win the vote in favor of the vernacular not just for the United States, but for the Church throughout the world. From the Pastor s Desk Dear Parishioners, Another summer week has passed by. I welcome in our church all vacationing guests and hope that all visitors to our church will feel at home. Although this is vacation time, let us remember how important is the material support for our church, especially during renovations which are being done in the main section of the Church (Sanctuary), and in our Catholic School building, which during the school year is used by students of five schools. Thus, in classrooms, we have installed air-conditioning, painted hallways, and cleaned the floors in each classroom. Last Monday we began the installation of a new boiler for the school. The old system was from the year 1954 and required replacement. We are also preparing to install a new fire alarm system at the school. This is very important because during the school year we have hundreds of children and their safety is most important. All these works need a huge financial effort. The cost of such improvements is very high. Therefore, if anyone, any company or business would like to make donations for these improvements, please contact the school principal Mrs. Jodi McLawhorn or me. We will be forever grateful. Thank you so much to Marie Shipman and Andy Magda for the preparation of a sweet table for the farewell of Fr. James Beath. Once again let us welcome in our community Fr. Bernardo Lozano Hernandez. At the same time, I would like to express my joy that Fr. Joseph Mol will celebrate more English Masses in our Church. I ask you to please, accept our priests with an open heart and open arms. Thank you, p. Bernadette Giemza and Bogusa Stoch for planting flowers at the entrance to the Parish Office. Our parish carnival will take place in Bridgeview, from August 24th to 27th. I urge parents and grandparents to buy passes for all carnival rides. Mega passes are $50.00 each and can make a wonderful gift for your children and grandchildren. We are looking for persons or groups that would be willing to cover the costs of the performance at the Carnival by the Polish Elvis Presley ($400). Before us is Independence day-july 4th. Please, spend this special day with family and friends if you can. Please, remember that on Tuesday the Adoration Chapel Jesus, as well as the Parish Office, will be closed. I wish all parishioners, visitors, and vacationers a blessed and joyful "Independence day". Jesus, I trust in You! Fr. Mariusz St. Albert Prish Welcomes New Associate Pastor - Fr. Z biurka Ks. Proboszcza Moi Drodzy! A zatem w budynku szkoły katolickiej (w klasach) została zainstalowana klimatyzacja, odświeżamy i malujemy korytarze, czyścimy podłogi w każdej klasie. Proszę was przyjmijcie naszych księży z otwartym sercem i otwartymi ramionami. Jezu, ufam Tobie Ks. Gdy Jezus ogłosił powrót do Judei, by tam odwiedzić chorego przyjaciela, Łazarza, Tomasz od razu zgłosił chęć towarzyszenia Mistrzowi razem z innymi apostołami w podróży. Serdecznie Wszystkich Zapraszamy DO ADORACJI NAJŚWIĘTSZEGO SAKRAMENTU W KAPLICY NAJŚWIĘTRZEGO SERCA PANA JEZUSA OD PONIEDZIAŁKU DO SOBOTY 8:30 AM - 8:30 PM Msze Św. w Kaplicy odbywają się w każdą trzecią Sobotę miesiąca o godz. 7:00 am Page 5

An embarrassment of riches? Not if we take Jesus' words about "welcome" to heart. The many challenges and blessings offered to us today by Elisha, Paul, and Jesus should be cause for rejoicing, and welcomed heartily into our lives. And, like the great treat that they are, they should be enjoyed and shared generously with others. Today's reading from Romans was chosen very early in the liturgical life of the Church to be the sole apostolic instruction received by candidates for baptism at the Easter Vigil. This illustrates its importance as a core belief, and as a means of comprehending the story of the Resurrection. Christ's resurrection is not merely a story about something that he underwent once upon a time, but it is our story, the story of how we joined the other members of the one Body of Christ, the church. We were not only dead, but we were buried; not ultimately buried, but raised to eternal life with Christ. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co.
