In other words, through the people of Israel, the Savior shall come to all people who seek God with a sincere heart. This brings joy and the radiance of God s glory to all the world and to all people everywhere. Through the fidelity of the people of God, and through God s fidelity to them, all people shall become God s children and rejoice in the fulfillment of God s promise to Israel. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co., Inc. THANK YOU FROM THE ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY We would like to thank the following for the generosity displayed in the Thanksgiving and Christmas Food Drive; St. Albert the Great School, CCD Children, Parents and Staff, Seniors Club, and many, many Parishioners. It was one of the largest food collections and enough to help our clients, well into the winter months. Further, I need to mention the Wooden Collection Box used for Food Collection. It is indeed to collect only non-perishable food. Clothing and other items left there are not used by St. Vincent De Paul since we are no longer a donation facility. They are being thrown out. Please find another charitable source to make these donations. ALL NIGHT ADORATION - EVERY 2ND SATURDAY OF THE MONTH. (In Spanish). We begin at 8:30 pm. From the Pastor s Desk My Dear Parishioners and Guests of St. Albert the Great Church! The Christmas and New Year celebrations are already behind us. Let us remember that Jesus needs to be born in us and our brothers and sisters daily, and throughout our entire Christian life. Once again I would like to thank all parishioners who took part in the preparation of the Christmas decorations, liturgy, music, service at the altar, etc. My special gratitude goes to all our parishioners and guests who in such large groups visited our parish Bethlehem in Burbank! Thank you for your gifts of prayer and monetary donations. Because during our Sunday collection we are still receiving your Christmas donations, in a few weeks I will give you the total sum of your Christmas offerings to St. Albert the Great. If anyone still would like to make a Christmas donation, please do so as soon as possible. Please, remember that all your offerings are tax-deductible. The donations statements for past year will be mailed out next week. The New Year 2018 is here and before us new plans, projects, and hopes. Unfortunately, in the past years, many things have been ignored and neglected. All projects were turned into empty words, promises, and smiles. I believe that step by step, slowly, with God's help and human kindness we will realize our next projects in and around the Church. I know that together we will do much because we are people of action! Beginning with February 11th we will have regular Monthly Second Collections for the Fire Alarm System for the church. Let s think! Every weekend we have over 4,000 faithful in our church, therefore we need to assure their safety. These safety requirements are implemented not only in our country but countries all over the world. During work on this project, we will work on other projects such as removal of moisture in certain areas of the choir loft and installation of a new carpet and tiles. As always, I will keep you posted on the progress of these projects. Next month (in February) we will install the sculpture relieves of Our Lady of Sorrows and John the Evangelist, which were ordered from Italy. They will be placed over the Tabernacle. We plan to have this project to be finalized with the conjunction of the Lent period in the Catholic Church. On this occasion, I would like to thank all parishioners who funded these beautiful reliefs! Recently we mounted in our presbytery a special plaque with names of all donors. The above is the most recent news from our parish life. New information will follow next week. May the Infant Jesus bless the world, our city of Burbank, our parishioners of St. Albert the Great, and our families! Jesus I Trust in You! Fr. Mariusz TREE OF LIFE Tree of Life is located in the back of the church at our Lady of Czestochowa Shrine. You can establish a beautiful memorial to a loved one by inscribing a leaf with his or her name. The donation for a leaf is $300.00. Donation for a larger memorial leaf is $1,000.00. The money collected is used for the maintenance of the church property. For more information please call in the parish office. See our website for more information: www.stalbertthegreatschool.com/tuition In the new year we are excited that we will continue to be awarded with our multi-million dollar grant to implement our Personalized Learning program! New Catholic School Scholarship Opportunity for 2018/19 School Year. Through the Invest in Kids Act, the state of Illinois has created a new way to fund scholarships for children from low-income households who want to attend private schools. This program provides an opportunity for more students to receive a quality Catholic education. The tax credit scholarships offered through this program could cover up to 100 percent of tuition and fees for eligible, low-income students. Not all families will be eligible for the new scholarships, but we want to make sure all families are aware of the program. Program details are still being finalized, but you can find information on the scholarships, the application process and the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) on the Archdiocese of Chicago s website, archchicago.org/tcs. Z biurka Ks. Przed nami też nowe plany, projekty i nadzieje. Niestety, wiele spraw w przeszłości zostało zlekceważonych i zaniedbanych. Alberta Wielkiego, naszym rodzinom i nam samym! Jezu, ufam Tobie! Fr. Mariusz SZUKAJCIE, A ZNAJDZIECIE! Dzisiejsza uroczystość to dzień łaski. Page 5

Iran or Saudi Arabia, Tarshish or the Isles come to mind, but Cologne, Germany would be a good choice. There the Shrine of the Three Kings has been the centerpiece of the city s cathedral since the fourth century. Today it is the largest reliquary in the world: a gilded and ornamented triple casket gleaming high above the altar. In the fourth century, the supposed relics of the wise men were taken from Constantinople to Milan, where they remained until the German Emperor with the unlikely name Frederick Barbarossa (Red Beard) gave them to the Archbishop of Cologne. Ever since, pilgrims have streamed into the city to honor the magi, the first of all pilgrims, and thus the heavenly patrons of all who have some holy wanderlust. This largest Gothic cathedral in Europe today was begun in the mid-1200s to house the relics. In medieval times, the relics in a city s possession were often the key to a sound international economy. The reliquary was last opened in 1864, and the remains of three men were indeed discovered. The cathedral is well worth a visit, with enormous twin spires forming the largest façade of any church in the world (it is the model for St. Patrick s in New York). Construction began in 1248 and ended in 1880, a six-hundred-year project. Today, it is a World Heritage Site, described by the U.N. as an exceptional work of human creative genius. This great treasure of our tradition suffered fourteen direct bomb hits in World War II but did not collapse. It survived while the city burned around it, preserved, the townspeople say, by three heavenly patrons. Rev. James Field, Copyright J. S. Paluch Co.
