From the Pastor s Desk Dear Friends, With small breaks here and there, the work on the church Sanctuary continues. This is not an easy task, because on a daily basis we celebrate many Masses in our church. It is necessary to accept this inconvenience as we look forward to enjoying the beautiful, new Sanctuary in our church. Therefore, I ask for your patience and understanding. Once the tabernacle will be moved, on each side of it we will install new perpetual candles. The new Sanctuary will also get two new pulpits. At this time I would like to thank families who have already made financial pledges toward this project. Additional donations by groups or individuals are welcome. In a near future a special plaque with the donors names will be placed on one of the walls of our church. Every week brings us some new surprises. The most recent unexpected surprise is the need of a new heating and fire alarm systems for the St. Albert School. The heating boiler dates back to 1953 and is very poor condition. The fire alarm system is also very old and requires major repairs. This problem has existed for many years, even decades, and it was brought up to my predecessors, however it was not taken into consideration. I think it is time to do something with these problems. My dearly beloved! If anyone of you knows a person or business that would be interested in helping with expenses of these major repairs, please contact me. I believe that there are people of good will (often anonymous) in our church, who will be able to help. Through the intercession of St. Albert the Great let us embrace with kind prayer all works going on in our church. Jesus, I trust in You! Fr. Mariusz TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION Today, the languages of the whole world arise to God in a Pentecost of praise. In some American dioceses, the Mass is offered every Sunday in more than thirty different languages, including the silent praise of American Sign Language. Fifty years ago, the landscape of liturgy was very different. It was grounded firmly in Latin, which is to the present day still the official language of the Roman Rite. Very few people were fluent in Latin, even though in those days Latin was far more widely studied in school. Nevertheless, almost every Catholic was competent in the responses and chants of Latin since it is not difficult to pronounce. The clergy were normally minimally competent in Latin, since much of seminary education was conducted in that language. When the Second Vatican Council was convened, all of the debate and daily work of the council was to be in Latin. In the first session in 1962, Boston s Cardinal Richard Cushing continually complained about it, and threatened not to return in 1963 if something wasn t done. He convinced the fathers when he rose to speak in fairly fluent Latin in an unforgettable Boston twang. The next year, he returned, but with a simultaneous translation system funded by the people of Boston. The ordinary everyday language of the people, the vernacular, had arrived at the Vatican via Boston! Rev. James Field, Copyright J. S. Drodzy Parafianie! Z biurka Ks. Proboszcza Kontynuujemy prace w prezbiterium naszego kościoła. Nie jest to łatwe ponieważ co jakiś czas celebrujemy różne nabożeństwa w naszym kościele. Musimy te niedogodności zaakceptować by móc w niedługim czasie cieszyć się pięknym wyglądem naszego kościoła. Proszę was o cierpliwość, wyrozumiałość i życzliwość w tej materii. Skoro mówimy o naszym nowym prezbiterium to również w przyszłości zostaną zainstalowane nowe lampki wieczne przy tabernakulum z jednej i z drugiej strony. W tym miejscu serdecznie dziękuję pewnym rodzinom, które wyraziły gotowość złożenia donacji na ten cel. Pamiętajmy, że w odnowionym prezbiterium zostaną zainstalowane także dwie nowe ambonki. Gdyby ktoś z was lub ktoś grupowo-rodzinnie chciałby złożyć donacje na ten cel to bardzo proszę o kontakt ze mną. Wszyscy nasi dobroczyńcy zostaną wypisani na specjalnych tabliczkach, które będą umieszczone w prezbiterium. Tu i teraz już wam dziękuję za waszą ofiarność na te nowe ambonki. Każdy tydzień przynosi coś nowego, przynosi niespodzianki. Taką nieoczekiwaną niespodzianką jest konieczność zainstalowania nowego systemu grzewczego w budynku naszej szkoły katolickiej oraz zainstalowanie nowego systemu przeciwpożarowego. Obecny bojler szkolny jest z roku 1953 i jego kondycja jest w opłakanym stanie. Podobnie system przeciwpożarowy jest bardzo stary i wymaga remontu. Ten problem nie jest nowym problemem. Istniał on od kilkunastu lub kilkudziesięciu lat. Wielkokrotnie był sygnalizowany moim poprzednikom, ale nigdy nie doczekał się jakiejkolwiek odpowiedzi i naprawy. Myślę, że nadszedł czas aby coś zrobić z tymi problemami. Kochani! Gdyby ktoś z was znał kogoś lub znał jakieś biznesy, które chciałyby nam finansowo w tym pomóc to proszę was o kontakt z moją osobą. Wierzę, że co tydzień w naszym kościele znajdują się ludzie dobrej woli, kórzy pomogą nam w tym wielkim dziele. Często są to osoby, rodziny lub biznesy anonimowe. Te wszystkie prace prowadzone w naszym kościele ogarnijmy naszą życzliwą modlitwą przez wstawiennictwo naszego patrona św. Alberta Wielkiego. Jezu, ufam Tobie Ks. Mariusz W niedzielę 4 czerwca organizujemy przy naszym kościele Parafialny Dzień Dziecka. Wszystko rozpocznie się od godz. 10 rano i trwać będzie do godz. 4 popołudniu. W programie: smaczne jedzenie, rodzinne grilowanie, gry, zabawy i konkursy dla dzieci, malowanie twarzy oraz wiele innych atrakcji i niespodzianek (wszystko za darmo!) Rodzice płacą tylko za piwo, oczywiście mile widziane będą także wolne datki. Prosimy: zarezerwujcie ten dzień dla waszych dzieci, zaproście także dzieci waszych krewnych, znajomych i przyjaciół. SEND OUT YOUR SPIRIT Last week we heard that, following the Ascension, the disciples, Mary, and other followers of the Lord retreated to the upper room in prayer. This week we hear that, while praying in that room, the Holy Spirit comes upon them. Jesus post-resurrection promise, recounted in today s Gospel, is fulfilled: the power of the Holy Spirit comes upon Jesus followers. Saint Paul tells us that all of us, in some way, are given gifts of the Holy Spirit, gifts that can be used to spread the Good News. Today is one of the Church s greatest festivals. Let us carry the refrain of the responsorial psalm with us throughout the coming week: Lord, send out your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth! (Psalm 104:30).
