Dear Friends! From the Pastor s Desk With the beginning of the New Year 2017 we make new resolutions and new dreams take form. I also have dreams, which through your concern and generosity may become reality. My dream for the St. Albert the Great parish is an electronic outdoor sign at the intersection of State road and Central Avenue. We live in the 21 st century, technology is changing every year and our parish needs to go with the times. An electronic control panel is needed because from time to time someone maliciously changes the parish announcements on our current outdated sign. The new sign on the other hand will automatically display current information from the life of our parish and schools. Another dream for the New Year is to move the Tabernacle with the Blessed Sacrament to the central part of the Church so that the Lord Jesus will also become the central part of our daily lives. We also hope to replace the worn carpet in the presbytery and install two podiums; one for the priests and one for lectors and commentators. I trust that we will be able to find sponsors and obtain funding for these improvements. We all went through so many preparations for Christmas, we experienced so much joy during Christmas, and now we are left with memories of Christmas. I would like to thank all of you for spending those special, joyful days with us here at St. Albert s Bethlehem. Thank you very much for your wonderful example of faith, hope and love. I thank you for all birthday and holiday wishes, gifts, donations and other delicacies. I promise to go to the health club and lose extra ponds gained from your delicious goodies. From the bottom of my heart, I thank all who helped to decorate our church for Christmas. A special thank you goes to the LOOP company for reparation of the dance floor in Rogers Hall. I thank everyone of you for everything you are doing for St. Albert the Great Parish. You are a true treasure which together with our priests and nuns we remember in our daily prayers. TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION Octave comes from the Latin word for eight, and since eight is one step beyond seven, the number of days in a week, it has long been seen as a symbol of perfection, completion, and new beginnings. Early Christians called Sunday the eighth day, since it was the day after the Sabbath and a day of resurrected life, the Lord s Day. By the seventh century, people regarded the eight days after Easter Sunday as one great day, an octave, one glorious feast when people were forbidden to fast or kneel. In the seventh century, Pentecost acquired an Octave, too. Christmas didn t claim the honor of a continuous feast, but it did get an Octave Day. January 1 is the oldest Marian feast, the Octave of Christmas. It was originally a feast of the motherhood of Mary, although for centuries until 1969 it was called the Feast of the Circumcision. Our reformed calendar follows the earlier tradition of celebrating Mary as Mother of God. Page 5 Z biurka Ks. Proboszcza Drodzy Parafianie, Rozpoczynamy Nowy Rok Pański 2017. Z każdym nowym rokiem snujemy swoje plany i marzenia. Również i ja mam swoje plany, które jak zawsze przy waszej życzliwej i hojnej pomocy możemy zrealizować w naszej wspólnocie parafialnej. Moim marzeniem na nadchodzący rok jest przygotowanie nowej elektronicznej tablicy informacyjnej na skrzyżowaniu ulic Central Ave. i State Rd. Żyjemy w XXI wieku, każdego roku technika i świat elektroniki bardzo szybko się zmienia. Również i nasza parafia musi iść z duchem czasu. Ta nowa elektroniczna tablica jest konieczna tym bardziej, że niestety od czasu do czasu ktoś złośliwie przestawia nam napisane tam słowa. Mam nadzieję, że na nowej tablicy już nikt tego nam nie będzie robił. Na nowej elektronicznej tablicy możemy automatycznie podawać wszystkie bieżące informację z życia naszej parafii i szkół. Innym moim marzeniem na Nowy Rok jest przeniesienie tabernakulum z Najświętszym Sakramentem do centralnej części kościoła nad głównym ołtarzem, tak aby Pan Jezus był również centrum naszego codziennego życia. Przy tej okazji chcielibyśmy zmienić stary i zużyty karpet w prezbiterium oraz przygotować dwie nowe identyczne ambonki jedną dla księży a drugą dla lektorów i komentatorów. Ufam, że znajdziemy na te cele hojnych i zyczliwych sponsorów. Święta, święta i po świętach... Korzystając z okazji pragnę wszystkim podziękować za bycie razem w naszym parafialnym Betlejem w czasie tych świątecznych i radosnych dni. Dziękuję za wasz wspaniały przykład wiary, nadziei i miłości. Dziękuję za wasze urodzinowe i światęczne życzenia, upominki, donacje i smakołyki. Obiecuję, że po świętach pójdę na siłownię zgubić troszkę kilogramów. Dziękuję także z głębi serca za waszą pomoc przy świątecznej dekoracji kościoła. Dziękuję firmie LOOP za poprawki naszego parkietu w sali pod kościołem. Wszystkim za wszystko dziękuję... Jesteście naszym skarbem za który wraz z naszymi księżmi i siostrami codziennie dziękujemy. St. Albert the Great Sacred Heart of Jesus Eucharistic Adoration Chapel is open 7 days per week 8:30 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. Parishioners are needed to commit ONE HOUR per week for a year. Let it be a place of health, chastity, self conquest, humility, goodness, mildness, obedience to your commandments, and thanksgiving to you, Father Son and Holy Spirit.
