Mariusz and the Parish Staff St. Albert s St. Vincent De Paul Society Is Looking for New Members Over the past few years, our membership has diminished (relocation, age, medical problem etc.) however, we still answer the calls from the parish and area poor and needy. St. Albert the Great Parish has always answered and assisted in the time of need (Food Donations, Parish Collections, and Fund Raising). A few laborers are needed in Lord s Vineyard. All you need is a desire to help others and some free time. Please contact us through the Parish Office (708-423-0321) for further information. Let the Lord guide your response. Let Us Pray for the Sick Dad He never looks for praises, He s never one to boast He just goes on quietly working For those he loves the most His dreams are seldom spoken His wants are very few And most of the time his worries Will go unspoken too. He s there A firm foundation Through all our storms of life A strudy hand to hold to In times of stress and strife A true friend we can turn to When times are good or bad One of our greatest blessings, The man that we call Dad. From the Pastor s Desk Dear Parishioners, We are still enjoying the beautiful June weather; however, July is approaching quickly. July 1st will mark a year since I came to St. Albert Parish. Many changes have taken place in Our Familial Home in such a short time. We all offered prayers to Our Good Lord for all that we already accomplished as well as other ongoing projects. Just in one year we accomplished many wonderful things. Our church has a new roof, we remodeled two apartments in the priest s residence and bathrooms in Sisters convent. Our parish and school have new signs, and thestatue of St. Albert the Great is surrounded by a beautiful, new garden. The children of our parish have a new playground with protective fences, Rogers Hall has been completely remodeled and decorated and we have welcome signs in several languages. The old carpet in both cry rooms has been replaced with ceramic tiles and a new bathroom was installed next to the South cry room. Work on the Church Sanctuary continues and in the near future we will install new heating and fire alarm systems in our school (St. Albert the Great school is also being used by other schools affiliated with our parish). All these improvements were possible because of you, your prayers, and your sacrifices. This is a sign of how much you love Jesus Christ and His Church, which is called St. Albert the Great in Burbank. For this, I sincerely thank every one of you. My words are too small to express my huge gratitude for all parishioners and those who pray here. Dearly Beloved! During last year many changes took place not only in our Church but also in the parish office staff. Please know that I have given much thought and prayed over changes which will take place in our parish as of July 1, 2017. During the past year I have observed certain aspects of our parish life and came to a conclusion that more improvements need to implemented so that our parish life need is better organized. 1. The Adoration Chapel will be closed not only on Holy Days but also on Sundays. Church document about Liturgy (# 42) and document by St. John Paul II states that the most beautiful form of prayer is the Sunday Mass. Besides that, very often on Sunday, no one is in the Adoration Chapel and Jesus is alone! I also have taken into consideration the safety in the Chapel. 2. Because almost 100% of the faithful attending the 10:30 am Sunday Mass use Polish language, the entire Mass will be celebrated in Polish. Celebrations in two languages often caused the Mass go over the allowed time, which then has turned into difficulties with parking for parishioners arriving for the next Mass. 3. All parishioners in our church should receive the best service; that is why beginning with July; our beloved Fr. Joseph Mol will celebrate with us many more Masses than he has in the past. Besides that our Hispanic community will have a new Associate Pastor. Dear Friends, I ask all of you for understanding, kindness, and cooperation. We are all one big family and we all should take great care of our parish. I hope that in time to come we will all agree that these were positive changes. We can do this because of Our One God who strengthens us all! I wish all parishioners and guests a blessed week and safe vacations. Jesus, I trust in You! Fr. Mariusz TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION At the heart of today s solemnity is a eucharistic procession, held in many parishes, that calls to mind the procession of Holy Thursday, yet has a purpose different from the somber adoration in the night watch. In the late Middle Ages, a procession through the city with the Blessed Sacrament was an occasion of heartfelt joy and great emotion. In a time when people seldom approached the altar to receive Holy Communion, the procession through the streets, past homes and workplaces, was a vibrant reminder that Christ was with them as a dear companion and guide. Every year on this day, a joyful procession winds through the streets of Rome from the Lateran cathedral. A few years ago, Pope John Paul II, deeply moved at the sight of the throng accompanying the sacred host, said that we ought to feel profoundly united with the faithful everywhere in the world at such a moment. Before our mind s eye all the Churches of the world, from East to West, from North to South, are present. Originally this feast was on the Thursday after Trinity Sunday, but after the calendar reform of 1970, its title was expanded from Corpus Christi to The Body and Blood of Christ and in the United States it was moved to the Sunday after Trinity Sunday. Even though Easter season ended two weeks ago, this beautiful feast is aglow with Easter light. Rev. James Field, Copyright J. S. Paluch Co. Lydia M. Child Page 3

Page 5 Z biurka Ks. Proboszcza Dziś przeżywamy w USA Dzień Ojca! Naszą życzliwą i gorliwą modlitwą ogarniamy naszych Drogich Ojców tak żyjących jak i zmarłych. To Wam dedykujemy poniższą modlitwę: Błogosław, Boże, ojcom, wszystkim ojcom - i młodym, i starym. W Twej niewyczerpanej miłości błogosław ojcom, wszystkim ojcom - i młodym, i starym. Z najlepszymi życzeniami - Ks. Mariusz (proboszcz) wraz ze Współpracownikami! Moi Drodzy! Dnia 1 lipca minie pierwszy rok mojego pobytu z wami i dla was. Albert Wielki w Burbank. Za wszystko jestem wam bardzo, bardzo wdzięczny!!! Moje słowa są zbyt małe, aby wyrazić moją ogromną wdzięczność względem was, naszych parafian i tych, którzy się tutaj modlą. Kochani! A zatem jakie będą te zmiany? 1. 3. Każda grupa etniczna w naszym kościele powinna otrzymać jak najlepszy i zrozumiały serwis. Dlatego od miesiąca lipca na angielskich Mszach będziemy gościć częściej waszego umiłowanego księdza Joseph Mol. Ponadto wspólnota hiszpańsko-języczna otrzyma swojego księdza. Więcej informacji o nowym księdzu wikariuszu otrzymacie już wkrótce. Drodzy! Bardzo was wszystkich proszę o wyrozumiałość, życzliwość i współpracę. Jezu, ufam Tobie Ks. Mariusz

TRUST IN JESUS Today s feast celebrates another central mystery of our faith the mystery of the Eucharist. Like the mystery of the Trinity, the real presence of the Body and Blood of Christ in the Eucharist can never be fully understood, but can only be believed. Just as the Israelites in the desert were invited to put their trust in God s word to them, we are invited to trust wholly in the word of Jesus. In today s Gospel Jesus promises to give us a share in his very own flesh and blood, and a share in eternal life besides. We are called to take him at his word and open our hearts to receive true nourishment and life from our participation in the Eucharist. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.
