Anonymous THE GIFT OF THE EUCHARIST Today we hear how Abram encounters Melchizedek, king of Salem... and a priest of God Most High (Genesis 14:18). Melchizedek appears nowhere else in scripture, but is nonetheless significant. Psalm 110 declares of the great King David, You are a priest forever, in the line of Melchizedek, a description later given (in the letter to the Hebrews) to Christ as High Priest. Early Christians saw in Melchizedek s bread and wine the bread and wine of the Eucharist; Paul s account of the Last Supper (in today s second reading) is the oldest one in scripture. In the Gospel, Luke describes Jesus providing bread for a crowd in words similar to Paul s, words still used by the Church: Jesus takes bread, gives thanks, breaks it. Many popular television shows exploit an unattractive side of human nature by pitting contestants against one another, even to the point of performing dangerous stunts or devious schemes, to gain money or favor. At the liturgy, we counter that impulse by committing ourselves to live generously. In response to Christ s total gift, we offer bread and wine as the emblems of our lives, our hopes, our joys and sorrows. The bread and wine carried to the altar contain our lives, and by offering our lives to God, we prepare to receive the gift of God s own life. We are to become what we receive: the body of Christ. On Sundays, this self giving is often accompanied by a collection and procession of gifts for the poor and money for the upkeep of the parish. There are certainly other methods of collecting money, some perhaps more efficient. Na straży szacunku do naszych Kochanych Rodziców stoi zawsze IV przykazanie Boże: Czcij Ojca i Matkę swoją, abyś długo żył i dobrze ci się powodziło na ziemi. W intencji naszych Drogich Ojców módlmy się słowami: Miłosierny Boże, Ty, jako nasz Ojciec Niebieski, doskonale rozumiesz Ojców. W Twej niewyczerpanej miłości i niewyczerpanym doświadczeniu, błogosław Ojcom, tym młodym, i tym starszym. Daj każdemu z Nich czas i chęć, aby stał się przyjacielem swojego Dziecka. Daj Mu miłość, mądrość, cierpliwość i sprawiedliwość w wychowywaniu nie zawsze posłusznych i wdzięcznych, mniejszych i większych Dzieci. Uczyń Go bohaterem w oczach Dziecka. Jezu, ufam Tobie! Fr. Mariusz Uroczystość Najświętszego Ciała i Krwi Chrystusa z pozoru nie ma związku z przeżywanym w maju Dniem Matki. A jednak jest coś lub lepiej powiedzieć ktoś dzięki komu możemy dostrzec ścisłą zależność pomiędzy przeżywanymi dziś świętami. Jest to średniowieczna mistyczka angielska Julianna z Norwich. To właśnie ona odkryła w Bogu taką czułość, dobroć i delikatność, że właściwym wydało się jej porównanie Bożej miłości do miłości matczynej! Stąd nazywała Jezusa i modliła się do Niego tak: Moja czuła Matko, moja Łaskawa Matko, moja umiłowana Matko, najlepsza ze wszystkich tak się zwracała w modlitwie. Chrystusa takie porównanie nie odziera z należnej Mu czci, gdyż jak pisze Julianna nawet jeśli nasza ziemska matka może znieść to, że ginie jej dziecko, nasza Matka niebiańska, Jezus, nie może pozwolić, abyśmy zginęli my, którzy jesteśmy Jego dziećmi. Julianna wskazuje jeszcze wiele innych pięknych odniesień do macierzyńskiej miłości Jezusa, ale dzisiaj warto, byśmy zauważyli to jedno: tak jak byliśmy karmieni ciałem i mlekiem naszej mamy której dzisiaj winniśmy wdzięczność i modlitwę tak jesteśmy w Eucharystii karmieni nie jakimkolwiek chlebem ziemskim, lecz to Chrystus Matka jakby to powiedziała Julianna karmi nas sobą: swoimi Ciałem i Krwią. Daje nam siebie za pokarm, tak jak matka daje samą siebie swoim dzieciom. Idźmy w procesji z radością, że Bóg, za którym idziemy, karmi nas, abyśmy mieli siły podążać i dojść tam, gdzie powinniśmy dojść w pielgrzymce wiary: do nieba, gdzie poznamy Jezusa w pełni Jego miłości. ks. Adam Rybicki Jezus uniża się co dzień jak wtedy, gdy z tronu królewskiego zstąpił do łona Dziewicy. Codziennie przychodzi do nas w pokornej postaci. Co dzień zstępuje do nas z łona Ojca na ołtarz w rękach kapłana. Jak Pan ukazał się Apostołom w rzeczywistym ciele, tak i teraz ukazuje się nam w Świętym Chlebie. (św. Franciszek z Asyżu) Ponad Eucharys ę żaden inny sakrament nie jest bardziej zbawienny; on usuwa grzechy, pomnaża cnoty, duszę nasyca obfitością duchowych darów. (św. Tomasz z Akwinu) Nawet wtedy, kiedy nie jest możliwe przystąpienie do sakramentalnej Komunii, uczestnictwo we Mszy św. pozostaje konieczne, ważne, znaczące i owocne. W tej sytuacji dobrze jest żywić pragnienie pełnego zjednoczenia z Chrystusem za pomocą na przykład praktyki komunii duchowej, przypomnianej przez Jana Pawła II i polecanej przez świętych mistrzów życia duchowego.
