50th ANNIVERSARY OF STB Invitations to our 50th anniversary celebrations were mailed out to all registered families. Additional invitations are available in the lobby or at the parish office. September 7th at 4:30 pm - bilingual Mass with Cardinal Cupich and Bishop Rojas. After Mass all are invited for hospitality in our parish hall. We only ask that you sign-up so that we are sufficiently prepared. Sign-up sheet is located in the lobby or please contact the parish office. October 12th at 6:30 pm - Gala in the Manzo's Banquet hall. Tickets are $125 per adult and $50 per child (3-12) family style dinner, open bar, live entertainment by the Ranger s Band. Reserva ons are taken up to October 1st. 50th Anniversary Grand Lottery: A trip voucher valued at $2,500 for destination of your choice AND cash raffle valued at $2,500 5 drawings at $500 each Raffle tickets are printed on the previous page, are available in the lobby, and at the parish office. Chances are only $10 each. Drawing will be held on October 12th during the Gala - winners need not be present. SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE THANK YOU! The STB Women's Guild thanks everyone who brought school supplies for our recent School Supply Drive! We collected approximately 687 items, which will distributed to the children at Euclid and Frost schools who have trouble providing the supplies for themselves. The administrators of both schools expressed apprecia on for the supplies and will be distribu ng them shortly. We are thankful to have such generous and open-hearted parishioners. Thank you also to Mickey Bachara for organizing this event and to Mary Ludtke, Mickey Bachara, Linda Menconi, Maria Kutrumanes, Prudy Mazzei, and JoRene Anderson for sor ng the supplies and delivering them to the two schools. Klub Kobiet pragnie serdecznie podziękować wszystkim, którzy ofiarowali przybory szkolne podczas naszej corocznej zbiórki. CATHOLIC TRADITIONS EXPLAINED Ques on: In some passages of the Bible, Jesus makes it sound like only a few people will be saved. But we talk about hoping for everyone's salva on. So which one is it - will many or few people be saved? Answer: Salva on is a mystery of God's grace. St. Paul encourages us to offer prayers for everyone. He calls it "good and pleasing to God" because God Himself "wills everyone to be saved" (c.f. 1 Tm 2:1-4). The redemp on that Jesus offers is held out to all of us. His sacrifice on the cross was already for everyone. Now it is a ma er of if and how we accept that salva on in our own lives. Here on earth, we can't possibly know the exact number of people who will be in heaven. When we hear words like "many" and "few," we tend to think of them in quan ta ve terms. Four wine glasses for six guests is too few. Three slices of cake for one person is too many. For God, however, "many" and "few" are qualita ve terms. Imagine for a moment that nearly every human person is in heaven and only a handful had, by their ac ons on earth, separated themselves from God.
