Page Two March 27, 2011 Office of the Archbishop Post Office Box 1979 Chicago, Illinois 60690-1979 Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, March 20, 2011 The Church in Central and Eastern Europe continues to make progress in its effort to support spiritual renewal and growth in areas formerly under Soviet control. Newly acquired religious and individual freedoms, however, have challenged the Church in providing essential pastoral needs for the people of this region. The Collection for the Church in Central and Eastern Europe funds seminary formation, parish maintenance and scholarships to students for graduate education. These students, both religious and lay people, have already begun to make an impact on those living in this vast geographic and ethnically diverse area. Your generous support of this collection will sustain the confidence and hope which our brothers and sisters in Central and Eastern Europe have come to experience since the fall of communism. On behalf of those who are in need, thank you for fostering the faith of future generations in this region of the world. May our Lord continue to bless you and your loved ones as we strive to live with a deep sense of solidarity for the needs of others within our parishes, our Archdiocese, and throughout the Universal Church. Thank you. Szczerze oddany Wam w Chrystusie, Francis Kardynał George, O.M.I. Arcybiskup Chicago
