Page Two March 15, 2015 Reflecting on God s Word Andrea had done everything her parents had warned her against and had lied to cover it up. But it s impossible to keep a secret in a small town, so she stopped talking to them. When they continued nagging her she moved out forever, telling her parents she didn t have a family anymore. Eight months later, broke and lonely, she chanced to see her father on the street. Certain he would condemn her, she turned way too late. Hello, Andrea. How have you been? Andrea could not contain her tears when she heard the words, Sweetheart, your mom and I would love for you to come home. What must it have been like for the Israelites to learn that they were free to go home from their exile? No questions asked. All debts forgiven. A new beginning. If we can imagine their joy and gratitude perhaps we can understand more deeply the tremendous gift we have been given in baptism God s mercy gives us the courage to leave our self-imposed exiles and come home. To właśnie ten Syn Boży zakosztował całej goryczy życia ludzkiego i poniósł najokrutniejszą śmierć, aby dać nam dowód swojej nieskończonej miłości. Bóg zapłacił wysoką cenę - a my wszystko otrzymaliśmy darmo. Living God s Word We don t always come toward the light (John 3:20). Sometimes we prefer the darkness. We might fear being condemned if our deeds are brought to light or we may simply be unable to find our way in the dark. We need the light of Christ to help us believe once more in God s merciful love. Copyright 2014, World Library Publications. All rights reserved. Nikodem usłyszał o Jezusie z Nazaretu. Odszukał Mistrza i wtopiony w tłum pilnie słuchał Jego słów i bacznie śledził Jego poczynania. Odnalazł wewnętrzny spokój i cywilną odwagę. Odnalazł sens życia: wiarę, nadzieję i miłość. Ks. Idzi

Page Four March 15, 2015 Hungering for Peace We journey with CRS Rice Bowl to Lebanon to be present to a people who themselves are on a journey. Here we meet a family of Syrian refugees, a family perhaps not so unlike our own. We are challenged through our almsgiving this week to reach out to those who are forced to flee their homes, who are seeking shelter in a land of peace. Option for the Poor Jesus tells us to care for those who are most in need in the world. He reminds us of our Christian duty to give a voice to those who go unheard and to help those who are most vulnerable. The bronze serpent became for the Israelites a symbol of hope, one they could look to for healing. In the same way, the risen Christ becomes that same hope for us. Are we symbols of hope for those who live in difficult situations, especially the poorest of the poor? We are created in Christ to do the particular good works God has prepared for us. That means we have a duty both to pursue our own good works and empower others to do the same. How do we empower those around us poor and rich to do those good works? This week s CRS Rice Bowl Story of Hope takes us to Lebanon, where we meet a family of refugees struggling to find their place in a foreign land. We know our Israelite ancestors fled to foreign lands. How do we welcome the stranger among us? Chicago s Got Sisters! Retreat Chicago, IL March 27-28, 2015 Pray and share with Sisters from different religious communities in the Chicago area as you discern your vocation. The Collection for the Church in Central and Eastern Europe eases the way for the people of the region by helping Catholic organizations offer affordable shelter, train seminarians, and provide pastoral care and catechesis. Your donation today helps to restore the Church and build the future in the aftermath of Soviet rule. Please be generous to the Collection for the Church in Central and Eastern Europe. Visit www.uscb.org (search Church in Central and Eastern Europe ) to learn more about the important projects funded by the collection. For many in the Church in Central and Eastern Europe, as well as parts of Asia, the aftermath of 70 years of Soviet rule is still felt in the form of poverty, infrequent pastoral care, and lack of buildings in which the faithful can worship. Your support is needed to strengthen the Church in this region through grants that promote ministries for children and families, create affordable housing, and provide a cultural and spiritual education. Please be generous in your parish collection. Your gift will continue to restore the Church and build the future in Central and Eastern Europe.
