Weddings are not scheduled on Sunday. BAPTISMS: English Baptisms will be held on the second and fourth Sundays of the month at 1:30 PM. Polish Baptisms will be held on the first and third Sundays of the month at 1:30 PM. Attendance at Baptismal Preparation class is mandatory. Register by calling the Rectory. 4 Page Four January 24, 2016 Please Make Your Gift to the 2016 Annual Catholic Appeal - The Hands of God s Mercy Many of you have responded to the Annual Catholic Appeal mailing from Archbishop Cupich. On behalf of those served by the ministries and services funded by the ACA, we thank you for your gifts. If you received the mailing and have not responded, please do so as soon as possible. In this Jubilee Year of Mercy, Pope Francis asks us to understand God s mercy in our own lives and then to be the hand of mercy for others. The ACA offers a wonderful opportunity to extend God s mercy to many others. In addition to providing for ministries and services throughout the Archdiocese, the Appeal also funds services that are of great help to ministries here in our parish. For example, Appeal funds support (IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO INSERT SOME OF THE MINISTRIES IN YOUR PARISH THAT RECEIVE TRAINING OR OTHER FORMS OF SUPPORT FROM THE ARCHDIOCESE see the list in the manual or on the website). As we contemplate God s many gifts to us, we should also reflect on our gratitude for these gifts. Your financial support for the work of our parish, our Archdiocese and the Church throughout the world is, in fact, one way to express this gratitude. Please give generously to the 2016 Annual Catholic Appeal. When our parish reaches its goal of $11,705, in paid pledges, 100% of the additional funds received will be returned to us for use in our parish. January is Committment Weekend. 5 Third Sunday in Ordinary Time Page Five Valentine s Day Dance The Polish community from St. Priscilla is hosting its Twelfth Annual Valentine s Day Dance, which will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 7:00 PM in McGowan Hall. Music will be provided by the GWIAZDA band. The ticket price is $15 and can be purchased at the Parish Office. Drinks and food will be available at an additional cost. We hope to see you all there! Jubilee of Mercy January 24 Third Sunday in Ordinary Time When he announced this Jubilee Year of Mercy, Pope Francis highlighted today s Gospel episode, in which Jesus proclaims in his hometown synagogue his Spirit anointed mission to fulfill the promises of the prophet Isaiah. Jesus mission then, says Pope Francis, is our mission now as Jesus disciples this Jubilee Year of Mercy: to bring glad tidings to the poor, liberty to captives, recovery of sight to the blind, freedom to the oppressed, and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord, a year of God s mercy. Pope Francis challenges us to translate Jesus mission to contemporary needs: to console by word and deed those materially or spiritually poor, to liberate those bound by modern society s new forms of slavery, to open the eyes of those blinded by their own self interest, and to restore human dignity to all those from whom it has been stolen. WE ARE LOOKING TO EXPAND OUR USHER MINISTRY A Church usher is the first official representative of the Christian Church that anyone sees when they arrive and as such plays an important role in making the people feel welcome to the service. He/She introduces visitors to the church. The church usher helps the Pastor to make the service a success by putting the congregation in the right frame of mind to receive the message. The usher meets the people with a pleasant smile, a warm welcome, and directs them to comfortable seats. He/She also sees to it that perfect order is kept in and around the church at all times during the services. Humility is key in an usher. Ushers are required to be punctual and time conscious as they are required to be at church far earlier than the rest of the congregation. If you are interested in becoming an usher and are 18 years old or older, we invite you to please fill out the bottom portion of this page and drop it in the Sunday collection baskets or bring it to the Church Rectory. Takimi własnie osobami są Marszałkowie. To nie tylko ludzie, którzy w niedzielę zbierają ofiary, ale ci którzy są pierwszymi osobami którzy witają nasz na progu kościoła. Instytucja Marszałków parafialnych jest znana w każdej parafii w Stanach Zjednoczonych. W naszej parafii również mamy grupę oddanych sprawie Bożej mężczyzn spełniających tę posługę. Zwracamy się dzisiaj do tych wszystkich, którzy pragnęli by dołączyć i powiększyć grono naszych Marszałków. Jeżeli jesteś członkiem naszej parafii, i ukonczyłeś przynajmniej 18 lat, a jednocześnie uważasz że mógłbyś spełniać tę posługę dla dobra naszych braci i sióstr, to poświęć teraz chwilę czasu i wypełni poniżej poddany krótki kwestionariusz.
