1 Gracious God of all creation: On this day, we remember our neighbors, of different nations and backgrounds, who died in the attacks we simply call Hear our prayers for their loved ones. May they know the comfort that comes from knowledge and love of you. God, we confess that we cannot make sense of the violence inflicted by your children on one another. But even more than understanding, we ask for the strength to be peacemakers, servants of your will for reconciliation. Give us the courage, God, to work for the day when hatred and violence will cease. Help us to be those who break cycles of retribution, even as we advocate for justice with bold persistence. God, be our strength, and may we feel your loving touch today and always. Amen. The immense devastation of human life was incomprehensible. Visiting the site in New York some five years later reopened searing wounds, and overwhelmed me with immense sadness. An incursion on our soil, carefully planned and executed by foreign elements, had shattered my cherished sense of security, and provoked a frightening sense of God s absence. How could my Catholic faith tradition enable me to endure this tragedy? I knew that neither vengeance nor sweeping animosity was an option for me. You have left us crushed... covered us with darkness. We are bowed down to the ground (Psalm 44:20, 26). O LORD of hosts, restore us; Let your face shine upon us (Psalm 80:4). The Psalmist cries a lament, expressing the mourning of the Israelite people, the chosen of God, who had regarded themselves as untouchable and above reproach, now hurled into misery. The lament expresses a nation s agony, dares to complain against their divine protector, may even own some complicity in the misery, and finally pleads with God for deliverance. In the midst of lamenting, the faith of Israel endured, as must ours. We are as vulnerable as they were to the violence and hatred that seem to encircle us. Our demand for a divine explanation goes unheeded. Yet we have learned of the self-sacrificing heroism of many, witnessing to the finest character of our nation and of our Christian heritage. Dying for one s friends is a sacred theme in our story, epitomized in Jesus, our Savior, and extended through centuries in the grandest and noblest acts of men and women in all circumstances. In 2001 we came together as one nation under God, sharing the grief, the disillusionment, and the promise to rebuild. As today we lament our honored dead and wounded, shall we translate such agonizing emotion into a persistent pursuit of worldwide reconciliation and peace? Rev. Andrew Nelson, Copyright J. S. At the intersection of State Rd. and Central Ave. on our parish sign we were able to see and remember some beautiful and wise words: "Live well-live well"; "Laugh often-smile often" and "Love much"! Let the words penetrate our mind, heart, life and our daily activity! Today in the U.S. and around the world we are observing the anniversary of the tragic events of September 11, We still remember the innocent victims of those events and in our prayers to God's mercy, we recommend their immortal souls: "Merciful and loving God, show mercy to your people and open our hearts to peace, love and mercy. Welcome to your Kingdom all who tragically perished on September 11, May their sacrifice of life yield a blessed fruit of peace and forgiveness. We pray for it in the name of Jesus our Lord, now and forever and ever. Amen. " After each Mass this weekend in the church vestibule, we can purchase the world's best cream pies. Please, purchase these goodies, share some with your relatives and neighbors and enjoy Heaven in my mouth!" On this occasion, my special thanks go to Mrs. Marie Shipman. Mrs. Marie, thank you for the idea of having a cream pie madness! Thank you for your great work, your time and love to our parish! Without you we would never have the opportunity of spoiling our pallets! I thank all volunteers who assisted in the preparation and sale of the cream pies on Saturday and Sunday! Occasionally we will also host in our parish a cleric from Mundelein Seminary - Luke Pyka. Please surround him with your fervent prayers and kindness! When two people meet heart to heart and work through old hurts, misunderstandings, and careless words, cleansing tears often flow and the encounter ends with an embrace that fills both with the warmth of a love too strong to fade. The readings this weekend assure us of this healthy release that comes with reconciliation. They give us the courage to reach out to someone with whom we need to reconcile ourselves, and give us the courage to ask for forgiveness from God, too. In the reading from Exodus, we see how God refuses again and again to give up on the Israelites. Even though they grow impatient with God and turn to false idols, God still calls them back. Luke s Gospel assures us that God rejoices when we turn away from sin. Proboszcza Na skrzyżowaniu ulic: State Rd. i Central Ave. na naszej parafialnej tablicy informacyjnej mogliśmy w ostatnim tygodniu zobaczyć i zapamiętać bardzo piękne i mądre słowa: Live well - żyj dobrze ; Laugh often - uśmiechaj się często i Love much - kochaj dużo! Niech te słowa przenikają nasz umysł, serce, życie i codzienne działanie! Dziś w USA oraz na całym świecie przeżywamy także kolejną rocznicę tragicznych wydarzeń z 11 września 2001 roku. Wciąż pamiętamy o niewinnych ofiarach tamtych wydarzeń i w modlitwie Bożemu miłosierdziu polecamy ich nieśmiertelne dusze: Miłosierny i Kochający Boże, okaż miłosierdzie Twojemu ludowi i otwórz nasze serca na pokój, miłość i miłosierdzie. Przyjmij do Swego Królestwa wszystkich, którzy tragicznie zginęli 11 września 2001 roku. Niech ich ofiara życia wyda błogosławiony owoc pokoju i przebaczenia. Modlimy się o to w imię Jezusa naszego Pana, teraz i na wieki wieków. Amen. Po każdej Mszy Świętej w przedsionku naszego kościoła możemy także dzisiaj zakupić najlepsze na świecie kremówki. Proszę zakupcie te kremówki, zaproście na słodkie co nie co waszych krewnych oraz sąsiadów i delektujcie się niebem w gębie! Przy tej okazji moje szczególne podziękowanie kieruję do Pani Marii Shipman. Pani Mario, dziękuję za pomysł kremówkowego szaleństwa! Dziękuję za ogromną pracę, poświęcony czas i miłość do naszej parafii! Co by to było, gdyby Pani nie było; gorzej by się nam wszystkim w parafii żyło. Kremówkami byśmy się nigdy nie objadali i gorzko z rozpaczy często płakali! Moje stokrotne podziękowanie kieruje także do wszystkich wolontariuszy, którzy pomagali przy kremówkach w sobotę i w niedzielę! Od czasu do czasu w naszym kościele będziemy także gościć kleryka Łukasza Pyka z Seminarium Duchownego z Mundelein. Proszę go otoczyć swoimi gorliwymi modlitwami oraz życzliwością! W najbliższym czasie podam wam więcej informacji na temat zysków z naszego karnawału, specjalnej Mszy połączonej z oficjalnym przyjęciem urzędu proboszcza (8 październik) oraz naszych październikowych dożynek (16 październik).
