2 Page Two July 7, 2013 SPIRITUAL REFLECTION Reflecting on God s Word Robert Fulghum tells the story of a troubled man who paid a visit to his rabbi. He had experienced a great deal of failure in his life and didn t feel that he had what it takes to accomplish his dreams. After listening to the man s tale of woe, the rabbi instructed him to seek out page thirty of the New York Times Almanac. That would be of help. Following that instruction, he found that the almanac entry was a list of the top hitters in the annals of baseball, with Ty Cobb leading the pack with a.376 batting average. Puzzled as to how that applied to his problem, he returned to the rabbi for an explanation. The rabbi explained that that page of Hall of Fame hitters represented people who in essence failed about seven out of every ten times at bat. So if he thought his track record of failure was a problem, he needed to think again. The many failures put him in league with some of the greatest hitters baseball had ever known. Rev. Richard Zajac Living God s Word Jesus sends off seventy-two disciples in our Gospel today. He instructs them in advance not to expect success in all of their endeavors. So when they fail, they are to shake the dust from their feet and move on. It is an instruction to be heeded by any who fail. XIV NIEDZIELA ZWYKŁA C WARTOŚĆ BOŻEGO POKOJU Starożytni Rzymianie mówili: Jeżeli chcesz pokoju przygotuj się do wojny. Podobnie myślą również współczesni zdobywcy tego świata. Dzisiaj pokój przynoszą skrzydła samolotów, rakiety, czołgi i bomby. Natomiast Chrystus przypomina nam dziś wszystkim, że pokój nosi się w sercu. Czytamy w dzisiejszej Ewangelii o tym, jak Jezus wysłał swoich uczniów na głoszenie Radosnej Nowiny. Mają oni nieść światu orędzie pokoju, radosną nowinę o nowym życiu, o nowej społeczności w Krolestwie Bożym. Ta zapowiedź nowego Bożego świata jest zawarta w jednym słowie: POKÓJ. Swoich uczniów pozdrawia Jezus słowami: Pokój Wam (J. 20,21). Apostołowie zanoszą Chrystusowy pokój do wszystkich domów: Gdy do jakiego domu wejdziecie, najpierw mówcie: Pokój temu domowi! Jeśli tam mieszka człowiek godny pokoju, wasz pokój spocznie na nim... (Łk. 10,5-6). Pokój jest tym, co daje Bóg. Nie w każdym jednak sercu kwitnie pokój. Największy prorok Starego Testamentu napisał: Bezbożni są jak morze wzburzone, którego fale rzucają muł i błoto. Nie ma pokoju mówi Bóg mój dla bezbożnych (Iz. 57, 20-21). W przewrotnym sercu i w przewrotnym świecie nie może być pokoju. Nie ma pokoju dla bezbożnych. Nie ma pokoju dla świata bez Boga. Dzisiejszemu społeczeństwu potrzebni są sędziowie, policja, więzienia i szubiennice gdyż trawi je niepokój, który wypływa z występnego ludzkiego serca. Potrzebne są potężne kodeksy praw, aby utrzymać na wodzy oszalałe ludzkie stado, które uparcie odrzuca Boga i Jego pokój. Wojna i niepokój rodzą się najpierw w ludzkim sercu, a potem dopiero przenoszą się na społeczeństwo. Nie byłoby wojen na polach bitew, gdyby nie było wojen w sercach ludzi (F. Sheen). Wojna serc przeradza się w wojnę światową. Bóg jest pokojem, grzech zaś jest niepokojem i zamaceniem pokoju. Co wybieramy to mamy Ludzie zbyt często wybierają grzech, dlatego przeżywają niepokój, rozłamy i wojny. Tę właśnie myśl pragnie nam przedstawić dzisiejsza Ewangelia w celu głębszego przemyślenia, co chcemy w życiu wybierać: wojnę, czy pokój? Copyright 2012, World Library Publications.
