(773) Jubilee Year of Mercy Last Sunday s Gospel gave us a tax collector s beautiful prayer to take with us from this Jubilee Year of Mercy. Today, another tax collector s encounter with Jesus offers a comforting memory to cherish, but also a challenging mission to embrace. Zacchaeus short stature (see Luke 19:3) matched how contemptible, socially and spiritually, Zacchaeus religious acquaintances considered tax collectors to be. Jesus counters that judgment with mercy. Radical sin meets unmerited grace. God seeks and inds the lost; a sinner s home becomes salvation s house. The sinner quickly welcomes salvation with joy (19:6), while the righteous grumble judgmentally at God s mercy. Mercy challenges us, too. Like Zacchaeus, we have been sought and found by Jesus, called by name to welcome Jesus into our heart s home. Therefore, we must go forth from this Jubilee Year of Mercy as missionaries of mercy, seeking our fellow sinners with Jesus, receiving them with joy (see 19:6) as cherished brothers and sisters, and joyfully offering our judgmentfree hospitality as Jesus own Welcome home! At 2:00 PM we will gather as a community of faith in the Interment Chapels of these cemeteries where we will join together for a Prayer Service as your beloved are remembered in the recitation of the rosary. Your personal intentions will be remembered in the Prayers of the Faithful. In addition you will ind the names of all those who have been buried within the cemetery from mid-october 2015 through mid- October 2016 memorialized on banners in each of the chapels. These banners will be displayed in the chapel during the recitation of the rosary and in the of ices during the entire month of November. Also, a "Memorial Remembrance Book" will be available in which you may write the names of your deceased loved ones. After the Prayer Service, the book will be available on the counter in each of the of ices for you throughout the coming year for any additional names you would like us to remember in our daily prayers. This book will then be carried in procession and placed on the altar at our Field Masses on Memorial Day. 3 Thirty- irst Sunday in Ordinary Time Page Three Solemnity of All Saints On Tuesday, November 1st, is the Solemnity of All Saints. It is a Holy Day of Obligation. Holy Masses are scheduled as follows: anticipated Mass on Monday at 7:00 pm and then 9:00 am on Tuesday in the English language, plus 7:30 am, 10:30 am, 7:00 pm on Tuesday in the Polish language. On Tuesday, November 1st in observance of Solemnity of All Saints our Rectory Of ice will be closed. We wtorek, 1 listopada przypada Uroczystość Wszystkich Świętych. Pomimo, że jest to dzień pracy, według prawa kościelnego jest to święto obowiązkowe dla wszystkich katolików. Porządek Mszy św. w naszym kościele jest następujący: Msze św. w języku angielskim będą odprawione w poniedziałek o godz. 7:00 wieczorem oraz we wtorek o godz. 9:00 rano. 5 An All Souls Day Remembrance The life of a Roman Catholic is marked by remembrances of every kind. At the center of this life is the remembrance of Christ s Sacri ice on the cross, which we memorialize here at the table of the Eucharist each time we gather for Mass. Today as we recall the salvation accomplished for us through Christ s death and resurrection, we remember those who have gone before us and who were marked with the sign of faith.
