Mr. Henryk Zygmunt Treasures From Our Tradition Today we are at the iftieth day of the Easter celebration: seven weeks of seven days, a week of weeks, now culminating in a festival iftieth day. While the liturgical color of the Easter season is gold, on this last day we have red. For the irst thousand years of the church, there were no irm rules for using colors. Only wealthy churches could afford a full array of colors, and most places used the best vestments, no matter the color, for the greatest feasts. The Church spelled out an exact plan for color, including red for Pentecost, only in 1570, but local differences held on until the 1800s. Color experts tell us that red is a hot color, best used for fast-paced, upbeat, active experiences. It is hard to be neutral before red, as any matador will tell you. It invites commitment, draws you in. It is a stimulating color, engaging the eye, stirring hunger. It is the most itting color for this day when we celebrate the descent of the Holy Spirit into our lives, a dynamic presence overturning neutrality in favor of passion and commitment. Rev. 3 Novena For Our Living and Deceased Fathers The Novena for our Living and Deceased Fathers starts on Sunday, June 16th at the 9:00 AM Holy Mass. It will continue for the next 9 days, Monday thru Saturday at the 8:30 AM Holy Mass. Please take an envelope from our ushers, print clearly the name of the person for whom you wish us to pray, and place the envelope in the collection basket or drop it off at the rectory or sacristy. The Fathers' Novena of Holy Masses will be offered for all intentions received. Nowenna w Intencji Naszych Żyjących i Zmarłych Ojców W niedzielę 16 czerwca rozpoczniemy Nowennę w Intencji Naszych Ojców. Przy wyjściu z kościoła prosimy o zabranie od panów marszałków specjalnej kopertki. Prosimy o czytelne wypełnienie i jej zwrot razem z niedzielną kolektą, do zakrystii lub na plebanię. W wypisanych intencjach przez 9 kolejnych dni będą odprawiane Msze św. o godz. 8:30 rano, a po Mszy św. będą prowadzone specjalne modlitwy Nowenny. MISSION CO-OP COLLECTION Each year the Archdiocese of Chicago organizes a Summer Mission Appeal. Next weekend, our parish will be hosting Father Fryderyk Jaworski, Carmelite Father working recently in Africa. Father Jaworski will share with us about his and his community s works in Burundi and Rwanda. Missionaries in these countries work in dif icult and dangerous situations and offer their lives to work among the poor people. The second collection next weekend will be taken for the annual Mission Cooperation Plan. For this reason, the second collection for parish maintenance will be moved and collected on Sunday, July 23. Każdego roku nasza Archidiecezja organizuje we wszystkich para iach Dzień Misyjny. W naszej para ii, za tydzień, będzie wśród nas Ojciec Fryderyk Jaworski, z zakonu Ojców Karmelitów Bosych, pracujący na misjach w Afryce. W czasie wszystkich Mszy św. będzie głosił rozważania o swojej pracy i pracy jego zgromadzenia w Burundi i Rwandzie. Ojcowie pracują w tych krajach w warunkach trudnych, często niebezpiecznych i wsród biednych ludzi. Więc druga taca będzie przeznaczona na misje. Z tego powodu, druga taca przewidziana w niedzielę 16 lipca na wsparcie naszych budynków para ialnych będzie przesunięta i zbierana tydzien później, czyli w niedzielę 23 lipca. Piotra w Watykanie, gdzie bezdomni mogą wziąść prysznic. W tym duchu i jako część obchodów 100-lecia Dzieł Miłosierdzia naszej Archidiezezji, została otworzona pralnia i prysznic dla bezdomnych przy naszej głównej siedzibie przy 721 N. LaSalle St. Program tej pomocy daje ludziom możliwość wzięcia prysznica, otrzymania czystych ubiorów, ręcznika i podstawowych przyborów toaletowych. Ten punkt pomocy jest aktualnie czynny 3 razy w tygodniu (poniedziałki, środy i czwartki). Każdego tygodnia ponad 30 osób korzysta z prysznica. Donacja Wspomniany program działa dzięki donacjom i pracy wolontariuszy. Jest stałe zapotrzebowanie na następujące donacje: małe opakowania szamponu, płynu do kąpieli, mydła, pasty do zębów, szczoteczek do zębów, maszynek do golenia, dezodorantu, skarpetek, męskiej i kobiecej bielizny osobistej różnych wielkości. Praca Wolontariuszy Kierując się Bożym miłosierdziem i miłością chcemy okazać ludziom szacunek i godność. Poprzez prysznic i zmiany ubrań chcemy dać ludziom w potrzebie nową nadzieję. Wolontariusze którzy pomagają, nie czyszczą ani nie myją pomieszczeń pralni czy prysznica, lecz służą pomocą potrzebującym przez pozdrowienie, przekazanie ubrania i przyborów toaletowych. 5 Maryja Matka Kościoła Święto Maryi, Matki Kościoła, obchodzone jest w poniedziałek po uroczystości Zesłania Ducha Świętego i zostało wprowadzone do polskiego kalendarza liturgicznego 4 maja 1971 r. przez Episkopat Polski - za zgodą papieża Pawła VI. Dzień ten został wybrany dlatego, że Zesłanie Ducha Świętego było początkiem działalności Kościoła. Jak podają Dzieje Apostolskie, w momencie Zesłania Ducha Świętego w Wieczerniku obecni byli wszyscy Apostołowie, którzy "trwali jednomyślnie na modlitwie razem z niewiastami, Maryją, Matką Jezusa, i braćmi Jego" (Dz 1, 14). Matka Najświętsza, Oblubienica Ducha Świętego, mocą którego w dniu Zwiastowania poczęła Jezusa Chrystusa, przeżyła w Wieczerniku wraz z Apostołami zstąpienie Ducha Miłości na Kościół. Od tej chwili Maryja, Wspomożycielka Wiernych i Matka Kościoła, towarzyszy Kościołowi w świecie. Maryja jest Matką Kościoła. Tytuł ten dawali Matce Najświętszej teologowie już od początków dziejów Kościoła, a w ostatnim stuleciu papieże: Leon XIII, Jan XXIII i Paweł VI. Biskupi polscy złożyli Pawłowi VI Memoriał z gorącą prośbą o ogłoszenie Maryi Matką Kościoła i oddanie ponowne Jej macierzyńskiemu Sercu całej rodziny ludzkiej. Episkopat Polski włączył w 1968 roku do Litanii Loretańskiej nowe wezwanie: "Matko Kościoła, módl się za nami". Wniósł równocześnie prośbę do Stolicy Świętej, aby wezwanie to znalazło się w Litanii odmawianej w Kościele Powszechnym, i aby papież ustanowił Święto Matki Kościoła również dla całego Kościoła Powszechnego. Mary, Mother of the Church On February 11, 2018, the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments inscribed a new obligatory Memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church, into the General Roman Calendar. This memorial is celebrated every year on the Monday after Pentecost. Pope Francis has decreed that Latin-rite Catholics around the world will mark the feast of "the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church" the next day after Pentecost Sunday each year. Cardinal Robert Sarah, prefect of the congregation, noted that Blessed Paul VI in 1964 had formally bestowed the title of "mother of the church" on Mary, but that recognition of her maternal care for the church and for believers had already spanned centuries. The church calendars of Poland, Argentina, St. Peter's Basilica and some religious orders already set aside the Monday after Pentecost as the feast of Mary, Mother of the Church. Honoring Mary as mother of the church on the day after Pentecost highlights for Catholics that Mary was present with the disciples on Pentecost, praying with them as the Holy Spirit descended. Sarah said that Mary, "from the awaiting of the Spirit at Pentecost, has never ceased to take motherly care of the pilgrim church on earth."
