P ASTOR` S LETTER / LIST OJCA PROBOSZCZA Drodzy parafianie i goście, W Kościele katolickim rozpoczęliśmy okres Wielkiego Postu. Spróbujmy przed wszystkim spojrzeć na Wielki Post, jako czas ofiarowany nam przez Boga dla naszego duchowego wzrostu. Wielu z nas podjęło już wielkopostne zobowiązania i ofiary. One mają sens tylko wtedy, kiedy nas kosztują, kiedy angażują nas do walki przeciw naszej egoistycznej i naznaczonej przez grzech naturze. Jedni rzucają palenie, inni picie alkoholu, jeszcze inni słodycze, by się nieco odchudzić. To wszystko pewnie ma sens. Warto jednak w tym czasie zrobić coś więcej dla Pana Boga niż dla siebie. Zamiast na przykład rzucenia palenia, czy słodyczy, może warto postanowić 15 minut dziennie spędzić na modlitwie lub też postanowić że oprócz niedzielnej Eucharystii przynajmniej 2 razy w tygodniu pójdę na Mszę Świętą lub adorację? Rzucenie palenia czy słodyczy w przypadku osób uzależnionych od używek, może być niebezpieczne. Człowiek staje się wtedy bardzo nerwowy, nieznośny dla innych. I co tego, że zrezygnował z używek skoro jest agresywny i niemiły dla otoczenia. Poświęcenie więcej uwagi Panu Bogu, sprawia, że człowiek się wewnętrznie uspokaja i dopiero wtedy łatwiej mu walczyć ze swoimi nałogami. Kardynał Cupich proponuje nam abyśmy, jako wspólnota Eucharystyczna, spędzili chwilę w ciszy po Komunii świętej, adorując Pana w naszych sercach. Spróbujemy zatem w okresie Wielkiego Postu chwilę pobyć w ciszy po przyjęciu Komunii. Niech to będzie nasze wspólnotowe postanowienie na okres Wielkiego Postu. Życzę wam owocnego przeżycia tego błogosławionego czasu i Jezusowi Miłosiernemu was polecam o. Marek Dear parishioners and friends Welcome in the season of Lent! Let's try to look at Lent as a time offered to us by God for our spiritual growth. Many of us have already taken Lenten commitment and sacrifice. They make sense only when they cost us and engage us to fight against our selfish and marked by sin nature. Some give up smoking, some drinking, others sweets to loose weight a bit and it perfectly makes sense to do that. However, it is worth doing something more for God than for oneself. Instead, for example, of quitting smoking, or sweets, you might decide to spend 15 minutes a day in prayer, or decide that in addition to the Eucharist at least 2 times a week you will go to Mass and adoration? Quitting something for people addicted to it can be dangerous. The man then becomes very nervous, unbearable for others. And what does it profit the one to give up smoking when at the same time he or she becomes aggressive and rude to the others. To dedicate more attention to God, makes us inwardly calm and then it is easier for us to fight our bad habits or addictions. Cardinal Cupich suggests that we, as the Eucharistic community should spent a moment in silence after receiving Holy Communion, to adore the Lord in our hearts. Let us then make an attempt during Lent to stay silent after receiving Communion. Let this be our Community Lenten practice. They come to The Women s Center and receive help, counseling and prayers. They are filled with joy after they give birth and cradle their baby in their arms. In 2016 we saved over 1,000 babies and saved their mothers from the agony of abortion. Are you looking to build your resume, meet new friends, or make a difference for moms and babies? The Women s Center pregnancy resource center is looking for new volunteers to join Mondays-Fridays at our N. Cicero Ave. location in Chicago. 1) We are looking for bi-lingual in Spanish volunteers 10am-2pm Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays to help with interpreting. 2) We are looking for self-starters with flexible availability to be on-call Lobby Desk substitutes on weekdays 1-4pm. 3). We are looking for new volunteers to help in the Family Resource Room sorting/organizing donations for our clients. 4) We have a weekday opportunity to prepare bottles for our Spare Change Campaigns (great for a small groups or service hours!).
