2 Pastor`s Letter / List Księdza Proboszcza Kochani nasi parafianie i goście, Przed nami Wielki Tydzień, czas szczególny, w którym będziemy przeżywać wraz z Jezusem tajemnice Jego cierpienia i śmierci. W Wielki Czwartek przeniesiemy się do Wieczernika, by widzieć Jezusa w Jego największej pokorze i uniżeniu, kiedy umywa uczniom nogi i uczy ich pokornej służby drugiemu człowiekowi. Będziemy także w ten dzień świętować rocznicę ustanowienia Sakramentu Kapłaństwa i Eucharystii. W Wielki Piątek, będziemy patrzeć na umęczonego Pana, który dźwiga krzyż naszych grzechów; towarzyszyć Mu w drodze na Golgotę i patrzeć jak się modli za nas, prosząc Ojca, by nam przebaczył, ponieważ nie wiemy, co czynimy. W ciszy Wielkiej Soboty będziemy rozmyślać nad tajemnicą Miłości Ukrzyżowanej, adorować Pana w grobie i oczekiwać na radość Jego zmartwychwstania. W Niedzielę Zmartwychwstania będziemy świętować zwycięstwo życia nad śmiercią, miłości nad nienawiścią, światłości nad ciemnością i dziękować Ojcu za to, że wskrzesił Jezusa z martwych a nam zostawił nadzieję Zmartwychwstania. W imieniu własnym, ojca Damiana oraz wszystkich pracujących w parafii św. Władysława, pragnę wam, kochani nasi parafianie i goście złożyć najserdeczniejsze życzenia, owocnego przeżycia Triduum Paschalnego, radosnych, pełnych pokoju Świąt Wielkanocnych. Niech radość Jezusa będzie waszą radością a jego Miłość ogarnie wasze rodziny, uświęci je i umocni Mocą zmartwychwstania. Niech wam w tym czasie towarzyszy szczególna świadomość obecności Miłosiernego Pana, który daje moc do pokonania wszelkich trudności i rodzi nadzieję na lepszy, bardziej boży i ludzki świat. Marek Dear parishioners and guests, Holy Week is before us a special time in which we relive with Jesus the secrets of His suffering and death. On Holy Thursday we will witness the Last Supper, to see Jesus in His greatest humility when he washes his disciples' feet and teaches them about humble service to another person. On this day, we will also celebrate the anniversary of the establishment of the sacrament of the priesthood and the Eucharist. On Good Friday, we will see the tortured Lord, who carries the cross for our sins; to accompany him on the way to Golgotha and see him pray for us, asking the Father to forgive us, because we do not know what we do. In the silence of Holy Saturday we contemplate the mystery of Crucified Love, adoring the Lord in the tomb and waiting for the joy of his resurrection. On Easter we celebrate the victory of life over death, of love over hatred, of light over darkness and thank the Father for having raised Jesus from the dead and left us the hope of the Resurrection. On behalf of myself, Father Damian and the parish staff of St. Ladislaus, I wish you, dear parishioners and guests, warm wishes, a fruitful experience of the Paschal Triduum, a joyful and peaceful Easter. May the joy of Jesus be your joy and may his love embrace your families, sanctify them and strengthen the power of the resurrection. May this time be accompanied by a special awareness of the presence of the Merciful Lord, who gives you the power to overcome all difficulties and gives hope for a better, more Divine and humane world. 5 OUR Our FAITH Faith EUCHARISTIC ADORATION The eyes of all look to you, Lord, and you give them their food in due season. Come visit Jesus in Eucharistic Adoration. Eucharistic Adoration takes place in our parish every Tuesday beginning after the 8:15 a.m. English Mass. Benediction is at 6:45 p.m. followed by a 7:00 p.m. Mass in Polish. (You must be a member of the immediate family.) PASSION The word "passion" connotes deep, focused engagement. It also relates to passivity, interestingly. The deeply passionate person in the Gospel narrative from Luke is Jesus. He appears passive, but he is not. He is wholly self-possessed and wholly present for the one day that begins on Thursday evening at his last meal with his apostles and ends with his burial before sunset the next day. Then follows the long Sabbath silence. The narrative of the Passion is read whole and without pause on the Palm of the Passion. This story, found in each of the Gospels, is unchanging. We are the ones who change. Each year, we bring ourselves with another year's history to hear and heed the story we so badly need. Life has its way with us, and we look again to the Passion narratives to learn to follow. Jubilee Year of Mercy March 20, 2016 Palm of the Passion of the Lord Misericordiae Vultus: The Face of Mercy is Pope Francis' official decree announcing this Jubilee Year of Mercy. But Francis had already declared that Jesus "has shown the face of God's mercy" back in 2013 on his first Palm as pope. Francis described Luke's account of Jesus' entrance into Jerusalem: "Crowds, celebrating, praise, blessing, peace: joy fills the air. Jesus has awakened great hopes, especially in the hearts of the simple, the humble, the poor, the forgotten, those who do not matter in the eyes of the world. He understands human sufferings... has bent down to heal body and soul." Entering Jerusalem, Jesus looks at all of us with love, Francis continued, at our sicknesses and sins. "A beautiful scene, full of light--the light of the love of Jesus" (Pope Francis, Palm homily, March 24, 2013). May this Jubilee Year's Holy Week and Triduum make us Jesus' own light-bearers and love-givers to all who long to see the Face of Mercy. (msza polska) Lent gives the opportunity to experience Stations of the Cross. Last Friday we had gathered together to walk through the Stations of the Cross with the children and their parents. At each station the children made their own reflection- we prayed, sung, and contemplated the agony and death of Jesus. Children are very sensitive when you talk to them about Jesus, His death and resurrection. I'm very grateful to the parents for bringing the children for Stations of the Cross last Friday!
