Page Two December 5, 2010 Office of the Archbishop Post Office Box 1979 Chicago, Illinois 60690-1979 Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, November 19, 2010 Soon your parish will be presenting the annual collection for the Retirement Fund for Religious, which provides for the care of elderly Catholic sisters, brothers and religious order priests. As I reflect on the role that religious have played in our Church, I am reminded of the many ways in which these dedicated women and men serve as bridges of faith. Through their service in Catholic schools and parishes, they offer a bridge to both academic knowledge and faith formation. Through their corporal works of mercy, they are bridges of hope, serving as models of God s love to the poor, the sick, the lonely and the oppressed. In a special way during their retirement years, they serve as bridges of grace, embracing the opportunity to focus more fully on praying for our Church and our world. I realized there are numerous worthy causes in need of assistance and that many individuals and families continue to struggle financially. I ask you simply offer what you can for the care of women and men who have made such enormous contributions to our Church. Thank you for your support of this appeal. During the Advent season, you and those you love will be in my prayers in a special way; please keep me in yours. Szczerze oddany Wam w Chrystusie, Francis Kardynał George, O.M.I. Arcybiskup Chicago

THANK YOU The Polish Committee for the annual Fall Dance would like to sincerely thank all the people who helped at and attended the Dance. Everyone who came had a great time and stayed long. Our Dance turned out to be a huge success. We handed Fr. Idzi a clean profit of $6,597.00. The Polish Committee decided that this profit would be donated as the first installment to pay for a much needed repair of our church organs. We would like to thank all our generous Sponsors, in a special way Mr. & Mrs. Maria & Casey Czochara and Pol-mart Deli, but also to all who donated whatever they could for our Dance. May God bless you for your generosity. Thank You! ~~Fr. Idzi Stacherczak, Pastor~~ Urgent Action to pass DREAM Act Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the U.S. Congress, will call for a vote on the DREAM Act on November 29 and Harry Reid, President of U.S. Senate, will do the same in the Senate a week later. Our new Illinois Senator, Mark Kirk, has not supported this proposed legalization for immigrant students. We should call Senator Kirk and ask him to support the DREAM Act, which will give children of undocumented immigrants who have lived in the U.S. for at least 5 years, graduated from high school, and are of good moral character the opportunity to earn citizenship by successfully completing two years of college or military service. Call Mark Kirk and ask him to vote for the DREAM Act (847) 940-0202 or (202) 225-4835. To reach other U.S. Legislators, call the U.S. Senate at (202) 224-3121 and the U.S. House at (202) 225-3121. The operator will connect you with your proper congressperson. Poprzyj ustawę Dream Act 29 listopada Pani Nancy Pelosi, Marszałek Kongresu Stanów Zjednoczonych, wniesie pod głosowanie ustawę Dream Act a Pan Harry Reid - Prezydent Senatu - w tydzień później uczyni podobnie w Senacie. Zadzwoń do Marka Kirka i poproś go o poparcie Dream Act: Tel. (847) 940-0202 lub (202) 225-4835. Aby dotrzeć do inncyh Amerykańskich Ustawodawców, zadzwoń do Senatu pod numerem tel. (202) 224-3121 i do U.S. House tel. (202) 225-3121. Tam operator połączy Cię z odpowiednim Kongresmanem.
