2 Pastor`s Letter / List Ojca Proboszcza Dear parishioners and guests, Today, we are celebrating the anniversary of Poland's independence. After 123 years of captivity, Poland in 1918 could enjoy freedom again. Sentenced to oblivion, wiped out from the map of Europe, like a fenix of ashes, it was created for a new life. History has shown, however, that we have had to fight for this freedom more than once. After the First World War, it came the German occupation followed by Soviet slavery, which for years succeeded in enslaving our homeland. Freedom is not recovered once and for all. As John Paul 2 said, freedom is a gift, but it is also a task. Freedom is accomplished through fidelity to values that strengthen the spirit, thus providing the foundation for a free and independent state. The departure from the Christian values that created the foundations of european culture always leads to a moral crisis, erosion and the fall of patriotic attitudes. Skazana na niepamięć, wykreślona z mapy Europy, niczym fenix z popiołów powstała do nowego życia. Historia pokazała jednak, że jeszcze nie raz trzeba było o tą wolność walczyć. Po pierwszej wojnie światowej przyszła okupacja niemiecka a po niej niewola sowiecka, która na kolejne lata skutecznie zniewoliła politycznie naszą ojczyznę. Wolność odzyskana nie jest raz na zawsze. Jak mówił Jan Paweł 2 wolność jest darem, ale także zadaniem. Realizacja wolności dokonuje się przez wierność wartościom, które umacniają ducha, dając tym samym fundament wolnego i niepodległego państwa. Odejście od wartości ewangelicznych, które stworzyły zręby kultury europejskiej, zawsze prowadzi do kryzysu moralnego, erozji i upadku postaw patriotycznych. The nation, religion and family are three natural communities that, living side by side, protect the human person by creating the right conditions for him to develop intellectually, morally and spiritually. All great European civilizations collapsed at the time of the crisis of values. The weakening of religious life leads to the weakening of the family and, consequently, of nations and states. A morally weak state cannot produce patriotic personalities, responsible citizens, capable of sacrificing their lives in the name of higher values. We live today in a free country, but the attack on Christian values is evident and is happening before our eyes. It takes a lot of persevering prayer to preserve the traditions and values of our fathers. May this day be an opportunity for us to thank God for the gift of independence, but also a call for personal conversion. May we always remember our Christian roots that underlie our identity. Wszystkie wielkie cywilizacje europejskie upadały z chwilą kryzysu wartości. Osłabienie życia religijnego prowadzi do osłabienia rodziny a w konsekwencji narodów i państw. Słabe moralnie państwo nie jest w stanie wyprodukować osobowości patriotycznych, odpowiedzialnych obywateli, zdolnych poświęcić swoje życie w imię wyższych wartości. Żyjemy wprawdzie dzisiaj w wolnym kraju, jednak atak na wartości chrześcijańskie jest ewidentny i dzieje się na naszych oczach. Potrzeba wiele wytrwałej modlitwy o zachowanie tradycji i wartości naszych ojców. Niech ten dzień, będzie okazją dla nas, by podziękować Bogu za dar wolności, ale też wezwaniem do osobistego nawrócenia. 7 THE WOMEN S CENTER NEWS We celebrate Thanksgiving during November. This is an appropriate time for us to thank God for the many people who have helped us in our work of serving mothers and babies in difficult pregnancies. We could not do this without your help. PART TIME JOB OPENINGS: Seeking RDMS Certified Sonographers to conduct limited OB ultrasounds. Multiple shifts are available in our Cicero Avenue (north side) office and Evergreen Park office.
