Page Two May 31, 2009 Our entire parish of St. Priscilla is proud and honored to welcome Cardinal George as he celebrates the 9:00 Mass on this Solemnity of the Pentecost. Having our Archbishop with us to celebrate the Eucharist on the day when we, as Catholics, celebrate the birth of the Church is a particular privilege. It was on that first Pentecost that the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles and they were strengthened to take up the commission of Jesus to go out to all the world and teach the Gospel. Cardinal George is a direct successor of those first Apostles. In an unbroken chain, by the imposition of hands and invocation of the Holy Spirit, the teaching authority of the episcopacy has come down through the ages. In the Church of Chicago, that same teaching authority given to the Apostles by Christ rests in the person of Cardinal George. Let us pray for Cardinal George that he be strengthened by the Holy Spirit everyday of his ministry as our shepherd. Let us pray for ourselves that, because of his presence with us today, we may be inspired to even greater works of love and charity in the Holy Spirit we received from a bishop at our own Confirmation. May God Bless Francis Cardinal George!

Pentecost Sunday Page Five DUCH BO Y MIESZKA W NAS. Dzisiaj obchodzimy równie dzieñ narodzin Kościo³a i chrześcijañstwa. Prawie 2000 lat temu Duch Świêty przemówi³ przez usta św. Piotra Aposto³a i pierwsi ydzi przyjêli chrzest. Wtedy to Kośció³ rozpocz¹³ swoj¹ dzia³alnośæ poprzez wieki znacz¹c j¹ ró nymi wydarzeniami i pochód ten zatrzyma siê dopiero wówczas, gdy zatrzyma siê czas i stan¹ wszystkie zegary świata. Duch Świêty za pośrednictwem Kościo³a leczy ten tr¹d, burzy ten mur i tworzy woln¹ przestrzeñ w naszych duszach, aby móg³ w nich zamieszkaæ Bóg. Wszyscy zostali nape³nieni Duchem Świêtym (Dz. 2,4), czytamy o Aposto³ach i rodz¹cym siê Kościele. Prośmy dzisiaj Ducha Świêtego by nas nawiedzi³ ze swoim świat³em, by nas umocni³ swoj¹ moc¹ tak, byśmy mogli wprowadzaæ w ycie Jego natchnienia. O to świat³o Ducha Świêtego modlimy siê s³owami: Daj nam Ducha Twego, a bêdziemy na nowo stworzeni i odnowisz oblicze ziemi. Nape³nij serca wiernych Twoj¹ mi³ości¹, a bêdziemy yæ na nowo. ks.
