Zgodnie z tradycją, symbol białej szaty czyli chrzczonka i świeca, to zadanie dla rodziców chrzestnych, aby jeszcze przed Chrztem zakupić jako prezent dla dziecka. Sakrament Chrztu Świętego udzielamy w naszym kościele w niedzielę podczas Mszy Świętej o godzinie 11:00 rano po polsku i o godzinie 12:30 po angielsku. Zachęcam rodziców, aby udzielać ten sakrament w czasie Mszy Świętej bezpośredni po kazaniu. Inne dni i godziny poza niedzielą należy ustalać zawsze z Księdzem Proboszczem. Proszę pamiętać, że przy okazji udzielania tego sakramentu składamy dobrowolną ofiarę na remont naszego kościoła. Jadwigi. Chciałbym podzielić się z wami informacjami związanymi z udzielaniem Sakramentów Świętych w naszej parafii. Chcę rozpocząć od pierwszego sakramentu jakim jest Chrzest Święty. Przed rezerwacją miejsca w restauracji lub wpierw nim zaczniemy planować jakiekolwiek przyjęcie związane z chrztem dziecka, należy zgłosić do biura parafialnego aby ustalić datę chrztu (dzień i godzina) a następnie wypełnić podstawowy dokument - formularz do zgłoszenia dziecka do Chrztu Świętego. Ta forma zawiera wszystkie potrzebne informacje aby rezerwacja była ważna. Należy również dostarczyć do biura kopię Aktu Urodzenia dziecka. Kolejnym etapem jest zapisanie się na nauki dla rodziców dziecka przed Chrztem Świętym. To spotkanie jest obowiązkowe jeżeli jest to pierwsze dziecko w rodzinie. Jeżeli dla rodziców jest to drugi lub kolejny Chrzest dziecka nie muszą brać udziału w tych naukach przedchrzcielnych. FROM THE PASTOR S DESK Dear Parishioners and Friends of Saint Hedwig s Church. I would like to share with you information related to granting of Holy Sacraments in our parish. I want to begin with the first sacrament which is the Holy Baptism. Before booking the restaurant or planning any party related to the baptism of the child, the day and the hour should be set in the parish office and you must also complete the basic documents - the form to make the reservation for the Baptism. This form contains all necessary information. Remember to bring, to the office, a copy of the Birth Certificate of the child. The next step for parents of the child, is before the Baptism there are classes they should attend. These classes are obligatory if this is the firstborn in the family. If this is a second child they need not take part in these pre-baptismal classes. Let us remember that the symbol of the white garment and the candle we receive on the day of
the Baptism, from the priest who administers this sacrament. By tradition, it is a task for godparents to buy as a gift for the child. The Baptism we administer, in our church, is on Sunday during Holy Mass at 11:00am in Polish and at 12:30pm in English. I encourage parents to arrange for this sacrament during Holy Mass directly after the sermon. Other days and hours, excluding Sunday, should be set only through the Pastor Please remember that during Baptism this would be a good occasion to support the renovation of our church with your donation. We pray for young parents and families, so that God bestow on them the gift of a new life that is blessed with children. Your Pastor, Fr. Peter TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION The premier poet of the English language, Geoffrey Chaucer, introduced one of his most beloved characters, the Wife of Bath, by this telling remark: Husbands at church door she had five. Four times widowed, she was setting off on a pilgrimage, notably without number five. The church door is a curious detail, pointing to the fourteenth-century wedding custom of marrying on the porch of the parish church. The goal was to give maximum publicity to the consent of the groom and bride, and so consent was moved from the bride s home to a public venue. The priest would stand in the doorway and begin by sprinkling the couple with holy water. He needed to make sure they weren t too closely related and give them some instruction. He would direct the groom to pay the bride s family a dowry, and then announce the monetary amounts to the interested passersby. Only then would the guests enter the church for the wedding Mass, during which the bride and groom would hold lighted candles. The gradual move from home to church and the shift from the bride s father to the priest s authority helped to protect the freedom of brides who weren t quite as confident as the Wife of Bath. Rev. But what we are told to expect and rejoice over is a meek and humble king, riding on an ass. Not horses or chariots of the great and mighty, but a humble beast carries the Ruler whose dominion stretches from the River to the ends of the earth (Zechariah 9:10). Being Catholic is a lifelong endeavor and involves much more than receiving a select number of sacraments.
