COME JOIN US IN 2020 TO SEE The Passion Play of Oberammergau Drawing crowds from all over the world, the Passion Play of Oberammergau is a musical drama of epic dimensions and regarded as the longest running play in history. It is staged every 10 years from May to October in the small, picturesque village of Oberammergau nestled in a valley amidst Germany s Bavarian Alps. St. Hedwig Church is planning this trip now because it is sold out very quickly. It is a nine-day trip visiting Switzerland, Austia and Germany. Trip includes Roundtrip airfare, First Class and Select Hotels, Most Meals, Sightseeing, All Service Charges, First Class Play Tickets, etc. The All- Inclusive Tour Price will be published in next week s Bulletin. COMMUNAL RESPONSIBILITY The people of God forgot the covenant and flouted God s laws. They did not listen to the prophets among them, who spoke for God in warning them. Prophets are sent from God to remind us why we are here, but they are often, even in our own time, mocked, disregarded, and mistreated rather than thanked and listened to. The book of Chronicles tells the results of these sins: the destruction of the temple and all of Jerusalem, murder, mayhem, and finally exile to a foreign land. Why are these stories in the Bible? Just to inform us of what happened to our ancient forebears? What good would that be unless there were a message and a warning for us as well? Are we people who follow the teachings of God, who obey the words of Christ in the second covenant in his blood? Or do we continue to wreak works of darkness and violence? St. Hedwig"s Faith Formation Program The goal of participation in this program is to prepare oneself, as practicing Catholics, to receive the sacraments. Being Catholic is a lifelong endeavor and involves much more than receiving a select number of sacraments. It is a process that continues through one s life and ideally should reflect in one s daily life. Please come and join us Our class program is held on Thursday: Grades 1-5 from 5:00pm to 6:00pm Grades 6-8 from 6:15pm to 7:20pm Lent Prayer Lent is a time for reflection for Christians to prepare themselves for the coming of Easter. During Lent, we are asked to praying, fasting and giving alms. The first pillar is prayer. We can extend our daily prayer and encourage our children to spend less time on any technological devices and social virtual services (internet, Facebook, twitter, Instagram, snapchat, etc.) and take more time on the connection with Jesus. We can ask ourselves as well as our children: what did you twit-text to Jesus today? Texting to Jesus is simply praying to Him. One of the way to pray during the Lent is Station of The Cross. The Stations of the Cross began as the practice of pious pilgrims to Jerusalem who would retrace the final journey of Jesus Christ to Calvary. Later, for the many who wanted to pass along the same route, but could not make the trip to Jerusalem, a practice developed that eventually took the form of the fourteen stations currently found in almost every church. Similarly, the 150 Hail Marys that were recited for the rosary were an adaptation of the medieval monastic practice of reciting the 150 psalms in the Psalter. In this special time of Lent children from our religious education program will have Station of the Cross in the church on Thursday March 15 th at 5.30pm.
