5 WEDDING BANNS Aarron Hulswitt & Natalie Pajestka III David Wilks & Mailey Petrie III Vitali Yamaletziou & Mihaela II (Vatican Radio) Pope Francis on Friday met members of the newly-formed Council for the Economy, telling them that their important mission will not be easy and requires courage and determination. The Council and the Secretariat for the Economy were set up by the Pope with a Motu Proprio in February and he reminded them that their responsibility was to oversee and manage the Church s assets with transparency and efficiency in the light of the gospel and with special consideration for the needy. Pope Francis said the Holy See feels called to put into practice this mission, especially in view of its responsibility towards the universal Church. These changes, he went on, reflect the desire to carry out a necessary reform of the Roman Curia in order to better serve the Church. Describing this as a significant challenge, the Pope warned the members that their mission will require courage and determination. He said a new mentality of evangelical servi ce needs to take root in the various administrations of the Holy See. Pope Francis had special words of encouragement for the work of Australian Cardinal George Pell who heads the new Secretariat for the Economy and praised him for his tenacity as a former rugby player. MASS BOOK OPEN FOR 2015 The parish office will be accepting Mass intentions for 2015 as of June 1st. The office staff are happy to encourage and accommodate Mass intentions as they come in. You can arrange for Masses either by coming in to the parish office between 8:00 AM and 2:00 PM Monday through Friday, or you can mail in your intentions and donations. If the date you request is already taken we will try to find the closest date to the one you request. When you make the request, please let us know if it is for someone who is deceased, or if this is a special intention. Finally, since so many people request Sunday Mass intentions, please try to limit your request for Sunday Masses to three, although weekday Masses are easier to schedule. Note, Mass intentions for 2014 are still available too! This is obvious by the numerous empty spaces in this week s Mass intentions column. Please remember, the Mass intentions need not be solely for deceased loved ones or friends but may, likewise, be offered for the living. We see numerous special intentions peppered into the mix. We all know someone, even ourselves, who could benefit from this spiritual exercise. Is it your birthday? Have a Mass said! Are you going in for an operation? Have a Mass said! Would you like to wish Pope Francis a safe journey while in Brazil? Have a Mass said! Private intentions are endless...we can all benefit from prayers, most especially from the supreme prayer offered to God in the person of Jesus. REMEMBER YOUR GIFT CARDS! Notice! The Hospitality Committee has scheduled a meeting on Wednesday, May 21, at 7p.m. in the grade school. The meeting will focus on the upcoming Annual Parish Garden Picnic to be held on Sunday, June 8th, this year we will be honoring "Dads".. If you would like to include the names of your family or friends in this project please contact the rectory. Cost of each memorial brick is $100. Proceeds from these sales support the work of the Garden Club in keeping our parish complex beautiful, colorful, and green!

6 Być kapłanem w rodzinie, pracy, życiu... Żeby dobrze zrozumieć słowa Jezusa, trzeba by najpierw przeżyć jakąś chwilę, albo i nawet jakiś czas trwogi. Nie chodzi tylko o przelotny strach czy dreszczyk emocji podczas oglądania horroru w telewizji. Chodzi o egzystencjalną sytuację, kiedy poważnie zagrożone jest ludzkie życie, kiedy śmierć zagląda nam prosto w oczy, albo z powodu jakiejś katastrofy, choroby, śmierci kogoś bliskiego, wali nam się pod nogami oswojony, bezpieczny świat. Bo dopiero w takich okolicznościach człowiek zaczyna zastanawiać się nad głębszym sensem swojego życia. Wcześniej wydaje się nam, że życie, przynajmniej nasze własne, będzie trwało wiecznie, że mamy przyrodzone i zagwarantowane prawo do życia, że nam się ono samoistnie należy. I to przekonanie żywimy zwykle do czasu, gdy nagle w wypadku tracimy żonę, córkę i nogi, gdy lekarz zwiastuje nam diagnozę śmiertelnej choroby, gdy nagle dociera do nas wiadomość o śmierci kogoś z bliskich. Wtedy cały uporządkowany świat wali się nam na głowę. A nieraz nawet wystarczy rozbicie auta, mały pożar czy choćby dłuższa bessa, by człowiek zwątpił w sens życia i stracił życiodajną nadzieję. Właśnie taki niepokój musieli przeżywać apostołowie, gdy podczas Ostatniej Wieczerzy Jezus przepowiadał swoją śmierć, a otwarta wrogość faryzeuszów i arcykapłanów czyniła ją bardzo prawdopodobną. Ale prawdziwe chwile trwogi miały dopiero nadejść w Ogrójcu i później, gdy okazało się, że Jezus nie czyni żadnego cudu aby się uwolnić. Wtedy ich wiara została poddana ekstremalnej próbie i zawiodła. Właściwie chyba musiała zawieść, bo była do tej pory budowana na sukcesach Jezusa, na Jego cudotwórczej mocy, mądrości słowa, która pozwalała Mu wyjść zwycięsko z każdej opresji. W takich okolicznościach wiara jest silna, ufna i optymistyczna. Ale gdy serce jest zatrwożone, trudno jest o wiarę, bo wtedy wydaje się nam, że Bóg nas opuścił, albo że Go w ogóle nie ma, bo gdyby był, nie pozwoliłby przecież na to. Jego obietnice wydają się w takich chwilach nierealne, a dotychczasowy entuzjazm, ustępuje miejsca rozpaczy i zniechęceniu. I właśnie w obliczu takiej próby Jezus mówi o swoim odejściu i o celu tego odejścia. Jakże trudne musiało się to wydawać Jego uczniom. Nie wyobrażali sobie swego życia bez Jezusa, a On tymczasem mówił o swojej śmierci. Dlatego nie chcieli nawet wyobrażać sobie drogi Jezusa, bo w ogóle nie chcieli by dokądkolwiek odchodził. Chcieli poprzestać na tym, co było, utrwalić stan obecny. Ale Jezus mówił nie tylko o swej śmierci, lecz o jej owocach, o przygotowaniu wiecznego mieszkania dla nas i o misji apostołów, a także każdego z nas. Będzie to misja trudna, ale owocna jeśli tylko będziemy mieli wiarę w Niego. Wiarę taką samą, jak wiara Abrahama w Boga Jahwe. Wiarę absolutną, ufną i bezwarunkową. Bo tylko taka wiara uzdalnia do podjęcia swoich zadań. Apostołowie muszą wierzyć, że wszystko, co im mówił i polecił czynić Jezus, pochodzi od samego Boga. Wierzyć, że nie ma różnicy między niewidzialnym Bogiem Stworzycielem, znanym z kart Starego Testamentu, a Jezusem, którego widzieli przed sobą, z którym przebywali i którego mogli w każdej chwili dotknąć. Taka właśnie wiara czyniła ich i nas także świadkami Jezusa i kapłanami Boga, w najbardziej pierwotnym znaczeniu. Kapłanów czyli tych, którzy są na ziemi reprezentantami Boga, Jego znakami, pośredniczą między Bogiem a ludźmi, składają ofiary z siebie samych, dają świadectwo Bogu, Jego miłości i samą swoją obecnością łączą niebo z ziemią. Właśnie tego oczekuje Bóg od każdego z nas, nie tylko od księży. Taka posługa jest dla człowieka sama z siebie niewykonalna, ale dzięki Jezusowi, który sam jeden jest prawdziwym i jedynym kapłanem, który doskonale wypełnił tę funkcję, a nam daje udział w swoim kapłaństwie dzięki Niemu możemy choć po części wywiązać się z tego zadania. Osobiście znam jednego z takich ludzi kościelnego i organistę z pewnej wiejskiej parafii. Całe swoje życie, ponad 50 lat, poświęcił na służbę Bogu i ciągle daje o Nim świadectwo całym swoim życiem. Mimo różnych trudności, nigdy nie traci zaufania do Boga ani wewnętrznego pokoju. Na każdej mszy św. biegnie od organów do komunii św., by przyjąć Jezusa do serca. Każdą Eucharystię przeżywa w pokorze i skupieniu, angażuje się całkowicie w modlitwę, śpiew i słuchanie Słowa Bożego. Od lat jest dla mnie wzorem, co to znaczy być kapłanem, mimo że to jest człowiek świecki. Właśnie do takiego kapłaństwa powołuje nas Chrystus.
