Now limbs of trees give them shade as they await the resurrection in peace. In their final moments the young men and women left drops of blood along the way They left tears too They left sweat too They left days and years of life. David Krakowski Some soldiers were left behind...in pieces... but solid, loyal soldiers. These were not meant as decorations for decoration day These are first class relics of martyrs for freedom. Decoration Day decorations... Final breaths decorated battlefields and hospitals with dignity. Final colors of red and white and blue embraced them in the final repose. These colors decorate the graves of those who made it back to the land of the free The home of the brave is the home which honors them with each salute. The feet, limbs and wheels of those who survived pay tribute to the courageous. Bugles and drums.songs and thanks. 4 Dzień Matki to najcieplejsze ze świąt w całym roku. Matka maleńkiego dziecka wzbudza podobne wzruszenie, jak matka staruszka, której dzieci już dorosły. Od dziecka uczymy się szacunku do naszych matek, a miłość, która nas z nimi łączy, to jeden z najpiękniejszych prezentów, jakimi obdarzyła nas natura. Dzień Matki to święto z długą historią, sięgającą czasów starożytnych. W starożytności symbolem matki była dla Greków Matka Natura bogini Reia uznawana za pramatkę (była córką Kronosa i uznawano ją za matkę Wszechświata i wszystkich Bóstw). Rzymianie obchodzili natomiast aż trzydniowe święto, od 15 do 18 maja, poświęcone bogini Kybele, uznawanej w tej kulturze za matkę wszechświata, a przede wszystkim matkę bogów. XIX i XX wiek naznaczył polskie matki specjalnym zadaniem utrzymaniem domu i patriotycznym wychowaniem dzieci. Ciągłe powstania, spiski i aresztowania mężczyzn Polskie matki nie narzekały na swój los i nie uznawały konieczności poświęcenia się rodzinie (dzieciom), jako ciężaru. W Polsce Dzień Matki to bardzo ciepłe i pełne miłości święto. W tym dniu dzieci starają się być ze swoimi mamami. Dzień Matki to święto, które uświadamia nam, że osobą, której zawdzięczamy w życiu najwięcej jest naszą matka i nawet jeśli mamy poczucie, że mama w którymś momencie życia nas zawiodła, to musimy wziąć poprawkę na to, że z pewnością zawsze chciała zrobić dla nas jak najlepiej, bo matczyna miłość jest bezgraniczna i bezwarunkowa. Bardzo często to właśnie w Dniu Matki mamy możliwość zatrzymania się na chwilę i poświęcenia czasu własnej matce. Częstokroć dzieje się tak, że po wyfrunięciu dzieci z gniazda rodzinnego bardzo dużo matek spędza czas w samotności, czekając na odwiedziny, czy telefon od zapracowanych dzieci. Pamiętajmy więc, że nawet drobny gest w ich stronę, szczególnie w dniu matczynego święta, może osłodzić trudy samotnej starości. W polskiej tradycji opieka nad matką jest dowodem szacunku dla niej. Dzień Matki to święto, podczas którego powinniśmy okazać naszym mamom wyrazy miłości i szacunku w jakiś szczególny sposób, np. obsypując naszą mamę kwiatami, upominkami lub buziakami, które przecież nic nie kosztują. Dzień Matki obchodzony jest obecnie w 40 krajach na świecie. Termin obchodów jest bardzo różny od drugiej niedzieli lutego tak świętują Dzień Matki Norwegowie, do 22 grudnia to Dzień Matki w Indonezji. Jednak najwięcej państw oficjalny Dzień Matki obchodzi w maju jest chyba jakaś magia tego miesiąca, którą można dostrzec nie tylko w Europie. Najczęściej święto to pojawia się w niedzielę danego miesiąca, natomiast my Polacy świętujemy Dzień Matki, jako jedyni 26 maja. Najwięcej państw obchodzi Dzień Matki w drugą niedzielę maja i są to kraje rozrzucone po całym globie: USA, Australia, Kuba, Hongkong, Indie, Filipiny czy też Peru. Oficjalnie w polskim kalendarzu dzień matki po raz pierwszy pojawił się w 1914 roku. Ks. Józef

STREAMER DAY 2013 The school year is winding to an end with the annual tradition of the ribbon/streamer distribution to the soon to be graduates of St. Stanislaus Elementary School. Garden Club News Those Easter lilies aren t going to plant themselves! Those are the words of Bob Molinski, our new Garden Club Mr. Green Thumb. So, let him know if you can help him as he tackles the task again this coming Saturday. We need YOUR hands and backs! Let Bob know when you can help so the lilies can get established and beautify our gardens still this Summer! The Four Eagle event is two weeks behind us, but I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you to the many people who made this event so successful, especially the Four Eagle Committee members. If you donated an item or your time, if you attended this event, if you worked at the event, or if you helped in any of the many ways that make an event successful... THANK YOU! We made approximately $12,124 at this years Four Eagle event. Some money is still coming in! But, we could not have raised this much money without you! REMEMBERING MOTHER Począwszy od Dnia Matki przez następny miesiąc będziemy odprawiać raz w tygodniu specjalną Mszę św. w intencji naszych żywych i zmarłych mam. Jeśli zechcesz dołączyć Twoją mamę (i inną kobietę ważną w Twoim życiu) do tych modlitw, prosimy o wypełnienie specjalnej koperty przeznaczonej do tego celu z napisem Mother s Day załączonej do biuletynu i/lub przy wejściu do kościoła, i wrzucenie jej do specjalnego koszyka przy ołtarzu Matki Bożej. Beginning on Mothers' Day and continuing for the next month, a special Mass will be offered weekly for the intention of our living and deceased mothers. If you would like to include your mother (and other special women in your life) in these prayers, please fill out one of the special Mothers' Day envelopes found in the bulletin and/or at the entrances to the church, and leave it in the special basket in front of the Blessed Mother altar.

6 FIRST COMMUNION 2013 Last Sunday we saw the reception of of the Sacrament of the Eucharist by a number of young people from our parish and from our school. The first picture above shows the home celebration by Kassandra and Steven who attend St. Stanislaus School but received their First Communion at Our Lady of Lourdes. Then we see our Pastor, Fr. Eric Orzech, placing Jesus into the welcoming hands of Alexis Gagliardo. Finally, the picture below shows the First Communion class (Nathan Trickett, Jordan Beltavski, Alexis Gagliardo, Michael Walace, Zoe and Alice Revay) singing their special song : You are the Vine. Special thanks goes out to all who prepared these children, especially Jane Bobula and Gloria Prevenslik from the Good Shepherd Class along with Nathan s teacher from Incarnate Word Academy.
