The reign of God comes about because people commit to reversing their lives completely, to embracing new vision, new values. Many popular television shows exploit an unattractive side of human nature by pitting contestants against one another, even to the point of performing dangerous stunts or devious schemes, to gain money or favor. At the liturgy, we counter that impulse by committing ourselves to live generously. In response to Christ s total gift, we offer bread and wine as the emblems of our lives, our hopes, our joys and sorrows. The bread and wine carried to the altar contain our lives, and by offering our lives to God, we prepare to receive the gift of God s own life. We are to become what we receive: the body of Christ. On Sundays, this self giving is often accompanied by a collection and procession of gifts for the poor and money for the upkeep of the parish. There are certainly other methods of collecting money, some perhaps more efficient. 5 The Novena for our Living and Deceased Fathers starts today Sunday, June 17th at the 9:00 AM Holy Mass. It will continue Monday thru Saturday with mass celebrated everyday and special Novena prayers after the 8:30 AM Holy Mass. The last day of the Fathers Novena will be Monday, June 25th. The Fathers' Novena of Holy Masses will be offered for all intentions received. W dniu dzisiejszym, 17 czerwca, rozpoczynamy Nowennę w intencji Naszych Ojców. W wypisanych intencjach przez 9 kolejnych dni będzie odprawiana Msza św., a po Mszy św. o godz. 8:30 będą odmawiane specjalne modlitwy Nowenny. W następny weekend, 23 i 24 czerwca, w naszym kościele przedstawicieli Katolickiej Społeczności z Ziemi Świętej przedstawią ręcznie wykonane figurki religijne i artykuły z drewna oliwnego. Dochód wspólnoty katolickiej w Ziemi Świętej zależy głównie od rzezbiena i turystyki. Ze względu na isntniejacy konflikt polityczny i brak turystyki wielu chrześcijan zostało zmuszonych do opuszczenia Ziemi Świętej. Pokaz tych dzieł sztuki i artkułów religijnych za granicą pomaga tym chrześcijanom przetrwać i zachować swoją społeczność. Artykuły te są ręcznie robione i udowadniają naszą wiarę i miłość do Pana. Więc prosimy aby po mszy św. spojrzeć i nabyć pamiątkę sobie lub komuś bliskiemu. Next weekend, June 23 & 24, our parish will have representatives from the Catholic Christians Community from Jerusalem and Bethlehem in the Holy Land, who will display olive wood, hand-crafted Religious Figurines and Articles. The Catholic Christian Community in the Holy Land depends mainly on olive wood carving and tourism. Due to the political conflict and the lack of tourism there, a lot of Christians were forced to leave the Holy Land. So by displaying these religious articles abroad and selling them, this will help the Christians to survive and keep their community alive. Those articles are beautifully hand carved and crafted, and they reflect our faith and love for the Lord. So following mass, please take a look and consider getting a gift that will be remembered and cherished for yourselves or for someone dear to you.
