(773) Treasures From Our Tradition It is often heard that today s observance is an idea feast, and that it is somewhat dif icult to grasp its meaning. Other great solemnities, such as Christmas and Easter, have an easily grasped core. Yet, even though the Trinity is at the heart of our faith, irmly declared in the Creed since the Council of Nicea in 325, we are used to having people shrug and say, Well, it s a mystery. Perhaps it is more helpful to think of this as a relationship feast, since it unveils our deepest identity. Dorothy Day was a great social reformer, paci ist, and ardent lover of the Trinity. When people told her that she would certainly be canonized one day (the process is indeed underway), she protested dismissively by remarking that people were raising a fuss just because she was not afraid to talk about God. She loved the Trinity, and treasured the traditional icon for the feast, also known as The Hospitality of Abraham, depicting the three angelic beings seated at a table tilted toward the viewer and laden with bread and wine. For her, the Trinity revealed the heart of the Catholic life, three C s if you will: community, communication, and communion. That was not an idea for her, but what it means to be created in the image of the Triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Rev. James Field, Copyright J. S. Paluch Co. 3 Boże Ciało W następną niedzielę, 18 czerwca, przypada Uroczystość Bożego Ciała i Krwi Pana Jezusa. Uroczysta Msza św. z procesją do czterech ołtarzy ulicami naszego bloku zostanie odprawiona o godz. 10:30 rano. Serdecznie dziękujemy rodzinom, które w poprzednich latach przygotowywały ołtarze na procesję Bożego Ciała. Bardzo prosimy o ponowne przygotowanie ołtarzy i zorganizowanie tegorocznej procesji. Zachęcamy wszystkich Podhalan do udziału w procesji w strojach regionalnych oraz dzieci pierwszokomunijne w ich strojach pierwszokomunijnych. Bardzo prosimy tych, którzy poniosą baldachim, sztandary, feretrony i igurki by zorganizowali i przygotowali odpowiednio wcześniej orszak procesyjny. Zwracamy się z prośbą o zebranie i przyniesienie kwiatów do sypania przez dzieci w procesjii eucharystycznej. The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ Next Sunday, June 18th, will be the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ {Corpus Christi}. On that day, the 10:30 am Polish Mass will be followed by the Corpus Christi procession to four altars in our neighborhood. All are welcome to participate. The Miracle of Life The human body is the most complicated and incredible machine in the world. Its bones, muscles, arteries, veins and internal organs are organized with marvelous design. Every part of the body, though each may seem to be so different from another, is made up of the same material: cells. Cells, each of which is one thousandth of a millimeter, are the structural units that form our body and everything in it. Some of these cells unite to form bones, others to form nerves, the liver, the inner layer of the stomach, the skin or the cornea of the eyeball. Each has the size and shape that exactly meet the requirement of that part of the body. How and when did cells, which have such varied functions, come into being? All the approximately 100 trillion cells that make up your body today came from the division of one single cell. That single cell which had the same structure as all the cells in your body now, came from the union of your mother s egg cell and your father s sperm cell. Yes, life begins at conception! 5 Novena For Our Living and Deceased Fathers The Novena for our Living and Deceased Fathers will start on Sunday, June 18th. It will continue Monday thru Saturday at the 8:30 AM Holy Mass. The last day of the Fathers' Novena will be Monday, June 26th. Please take one envelope from our ushers, print clearly in capital letters the name of the person for whom you wish us to pray, and place that envelope in the collection basket or drop it off at the rectory or sacristy. The Fathers' Novena of Holy Masses will be offered for all intentions received.
