4 From the Pastor s Desk... Last weekend, we celebrated the Feast of Pentecost and according to the liturgical calendar of the church, the Easter season has ended. The liturgical period in Ordinary Time has begun, which will last un l Advent. Today, we celebrate the Feast of the Holy Trinity, which calls us to the love, holiness and unity, which unites the Three Persons of the Holy Trinity. Let us pray to the Holy Spirit for unity and peace in every family and in the world. To be er understand the mystery of the Holy Trinity and its unifica on, we have to receive the Eucharist, which is the highest form of unity between man and God. In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit it is both declara on of the mystery of the Holy Trinity and at the same me it is one of our shortest prayers. When we touch our forehead, we ask God the Father for the gi of wisdom. Upon touching our heart we ask Jesus Christ to grant us the gi of compassion and love, and when we reach our shoulders we ask the Holy Spirit to grant us valor. This Sign of the Cross is that what our parents have taught us. It is a clear and outward symbol of our faith and countless people have been bap zed into the faith through the making of the Sign while others s ll have given their lives for it. Please pray for our wonderful Gradua on Class and join us for the Mass at 8:30am on Tuesday, June 2nd and at 7:00pm for Gradua on Celebra on. I thank them for everything they did for St. Francis Borgia Parish and School. I encourage them to be ac ve members of our parish and I believe that they will make us proud. The school year is coming to the end and I wanted to ask again all parents and families to consider registering their children to our school so they can receive the forma on which will help them in the future life. On Sunday, June 7th we will celebrate the feast The Corpus Chris with the special 1:30pm mul lingual Mass and outside procession to four altars. 6 Respect Life Self-Sacrificing Love Pope Benedict XVI s encyclical God is Love teaches that agape, which [is] the typical expression for the biblical notion of love.expresses the experience of a love which involves a real discovery of the other, moving beyond the selfish character that prevailed earlier. Love now becomes concern and care for the other. No longer is it self-seeking, a sinking in the intoxication of happiness; instead it seeks the good of the beloved: it becomes renunciation and it is ready, and even willing, for sacrifice (n. 6). This kind of love is seen in a particular way when we care for the weak and defenseless, both born and unborn. May the Pope s encyclical encourage us to build a culture of life! School News This Week At St. Francis Borgia School Week of June 1, 2015 There will be a Parents Association planning meeting on Monday, June 1, at 6:30 p.m. in Stokes. On Monday, June 1, the eighth graders will come to school for the last time as students. At 2:55 p.m. they will walk the halls and say goodbye on their final day of school. On Tuesday, June 2, there will be an all-school graduation Mass at 8:30 a.m. in church. There will be a light brunch for the graduates and their families after Mass in Mayall Hall. Eighth grade commencement will be celebrated at 7:00 p.m. in church on Tuesday evening, June 2. Congratulations and best wishes to the Class of 2015! World's Finest Chocolate - Tuesday, June 2, is the final date for school families to respond if they are participating in the candy sale. The proceeds of this sale will help families meet the first half of their mandatory fundraising obligation to St. Francis Borgia School for the school year. Families may opt to pay the buyout fee if they do not wish to sell candy. The Chess Club will meet after school on Tuesday, June 2. Students are to wear their gym uniforms on Wednesday, June 3 and on Thursday, June 4 and Friday, June 5. The St. Francis Borgia Parents' Association is planning a uniform exchange to be held in Mayall Hall on Thursday, June 4, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Everything will be given away on a first-come first-served basis. If you will be attending the exchange, please enter through door #10. The Creative Technology Arts Club will meet after school on Thursday, June 4. Friday, June 5, is our last day of school. Please note that this is a change from the date on the school calendar. Dismissal will be at 3:00 p.m. There will be NO EDP on this day. This day is also Hot Dog Lunch Day! Yum!
