Once again, God invites us to renew our faith and St. Bruno will be offering various ministries to help complete our journey towards Easter. Please invite your family and friends to join us. 3 From the Desk of the Pastor Today, as we begin Lent, the Bible readings invite us to acknowledge our personal wrong doing - our guilt. The prophet Joel tells us to weep, fast and mourn - to return to God. To be grateful that God is "slow to anger, rich in kindness and relenting in punishment.".. In his mercy God has given us a second chance. Don't miss this opportunity. Lent 2010 may be the final one for you or me - maybe for all of us. St. Paul says, "Behold, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation." The apostle pleads with us "not to receive the grace of God in vain.".. The first step of Lent is to face personal guilt... The Lenten practices will give you great peace. You may not help every person and every innocent animal. You may not save the planet - but you will do your part. Acknowledge your genuine guilt, place it before the Lord and then do something practical: pray, fast and give alms. Your Father, who knows the secrets of your heart, he will reward you. Fr. Tony Jednym z poważnych błędów naszego pokolenia jest zlekceważenie postu. Przez całe wieki post był w Kościele traktowany zgodnie z Ewangelią, jako jeden z istotnych elementów życia religijnego. Chrystus w kazaniu na górze wzywa do modlitwy, jałmużny i postu. Chodzi Mu o trzy zasadnicze płaszczyzny naszego życia. O właściwy stosunek do Boga, który wyraża się w modlitwie, o właściwe odniesienie do ludzi, zawarte w jałmużnie, oraz o moc i harmonię wnętrza człowieka, którą osiąga się przez post.. Post polega na umiejętności rezygnacji z rzeczy dobrej dla lepszej. Często przez post rozumiemy jedynie samą rezygnację, ale tak ustawiony post nie ma nic wspólnego z duchem Ewangelii. W szkole Chrystusa uczeń wyrzeka się pewnych wartości po to, by zachować lub osiągnąć większe Wielki Post to czas doskonalenia siły woli. Dla jednych jest to czas rezygnacji z papierosa, dla drugich z oglądania telewizji, a jeszcze dla innych z grymaszenia przy jedzeniu. To czas odkrywania wartości ewangelicznie rozumianego wyrzeczenia. Kto nie nauczy się z Chrystusem pościć, nie przezwycięży pokusy, nie wytrwa z Nim w dźwiganiu krzyża ani nie będzie miał udziału w Jego chwalebnym zmartwychwstaniu. W szkole Chrystusa, już w pierwszej klasie, trzeba opanować umiejętność wyrzeczenia, rezygnacji z dóbr doczesnych, wielkich i pięknych, na rzecz wartości wiecznych. Ks. San Pablo dice, "ahora es el tiempo favorable; ahora es el dia de salvacion." El apostol nos ruega, "no echar su gracia en saco roto.".. El primer paso de la Cuaresma es enfrentar la culpabilidad.. Las practicas cuaresmales te daran gran paz. Quizas no ayudaras a toda persona y todo animal. Tal vez no salvaras el planeta - pero haras tu parte. Reconocer la culpabilidad genuina, ponerla ante el Senor y hacer algo practico: rezar, ayunar y dar limosna. El Padre celestial, que conoce tu corazon, te premiara. Padre Antonio

Emil SACRED SCRIPTURE IN THE LIFE OF THE CHURCH And such is the force and power of the Word of God that it can serve the Church as her support and vigor and the children of the Church as strength for their faith, food for the soul, and a pure and lasting fond of spiritual life. Hence access to Sacred Scripture ought to be open wide to the Christian faithful. Therefore the study of the sacred page should be the very soul of sacred theology. The ministry of the Word, to pastoral preaching, catechists, and all forms of Christian instruction, among which the liturgical homily should hold pride of place is healthily nourished and thrives in holiness through the Word of Scripture. The Church forcefully and specifically exhorts all the Christian faithful to learn the surpassing knowledge of Jesus Christ by frequent reading of the divine Scriptures. Ignorance of the Scriptures is ignorance of Christ. Fr. Wierni Chrystusowi powinni mieć szeroki dostęp do Pisma św. Niech przeto studium Pisma św będzie jakby duszą teologii św. Tymże słowem Pisma św. żywi się również korzystnie i święcie się przez nie rozwija posługa słowa słowa, czyli kaznodziejstwo, katecheza i wszelkie nauczanie chrześcijańskie, w którym homilia liturgiczna winna mieć szczególne miejsce. Kościół usilnie szczególnie upomina wszystkich wiernych aby przez częste czytanie Pisma św. nabywali najwyższą wartość poznania Chrystusa Jezusa. Nieznajomość Pisma św. jest nieznajomością Chrystusa. Es tan grande el poder y la fuerza de la palabra de Dios, que constituye sustento y vigor de la Iglesia, firmeza de fe para sus hijos, alimento del alma, fuente limpida y perenne de vida espiritual. Los fieles han de tner facil acceso a la Sagrada Escritura. La Escritura debe ser el alma de la teologia. El ministerio de la palabra, que incluye la predicacion pastoral, la catequesis, toda la instruccion cristiana y en puesto privilegiado, la homilia, recibe de la palabra de la Escritura alimento saludable y por ella da frutos de santidad. La Iglesia recomienda insistentemente a todos los fieles la lectura asidua de la Escritura para que adquieran la ciencia suprema de Jesucristo, pues desconocer la Escritura es desconocer a Cristo. The editorial staff reserves the right to make changes to fit our format. Holiday weeks the bulletin deadline is fifteen days before publication. END OF YEAR STATEMENT FOR CHURCH CONTRIBUTIONS Now that the New Year is here, we would like to remind you that a year-end statement of contributions is available from the rectory. Please contact the rectory by phone or with your request and provide your envelope number ready as well as your name and phone number. BAPTISM Please call the rectory to make arrangements. All parents and godparents are required to register for and attend a Baptismal Preparation session. English Baptisms are on the first Sunday after the 9.00AM or 12.15PM Mass. Polish Baptisms are on the second Sunday after the 10.30AM Mass. Spanish Baptisms are on the third Sunday after the 2:30 PM Mass. MARRIAGE Call the rectory to make arrangements at least 8 months in advance. Your date will be confirmed at the first meeting with priest or deacon. Pre-Cana conferences are required. SACRAMENT OF THE SICK AND COMMUNION CALLS Please call the rectory to have a priest come for the sacrament of the sick. If you have been hospitalized or are homebound and wish a Minister of Care to bring you Communion, please call the rectory.
