FROM THE PASTOR S DESK. INFORMACJE KSIĘDZA PROBOSZCZA Drodzy parafianie i przyjaciele Kościoła Św. Jadwigi. Dziś celebrujemy uroczystość Najświętszego Ciała i Krwi Chrystusa - Boże Ciało. Krzyż został zamówiony i oto dzisiaj możemy go zobaczyć w naszym presbyterium w pobliżu ołtarza. Wasz Proboszcz Ks. Piotr Dear Parishioners and Friends of Saint Hedwig s Church. Today we celebrate the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ - Corpus Christi. At the same time we celebrate Father's Day. We will find more information about this on the last page of our bulletin. I would like to thank everyone for remembering our fathers and for the help in the preparation of today's holiday in our church. A few weeks ago I wrote that I was seeking a sponsor to buy the processional cross for our church. The Cross was ordered and can be seen in our presbytery, next to the door to the altar. The previous cross will be used for other ceremonies and the new cross will remain next door to the altar and will be used during all processions at church and outside and during the commencement and the end of every Holy Mass with the participation of altar boys. I want to thank Mr. George Marlin for supplying the funds for this cross for the church of St. Hedwig. I want to inform you all that we are still working on the project to renovate the second sacristy, which will become the place for families with little children. The work on the project is delayed due to other renovations. Within the past few days we have worked on the AC unit in the church. Fortunately it was all repaired in a timely manner. The system is very old and difficult to repair and service. I will supply the remaining information next week. Your Pastor, Fr. Peter Remember, June is the month of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. Pamiętaj, Miesiąc czerwiec jest czasem modlitwy do Najświętszego Serca Pana Jezusa.

TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION At the heart of today s solemnity is a eucharistic procession, held in many parishes, that calls to mind the procession of Holy Thursday, yet has a purpose different from the somber adoration in the night watch. In the late Middle Ages, a procession through the city with the Blessed Sacrament was an occasion of heartfelt joy and great emotion. In a time when people seldom approached the altar to receive Holy Communion, the procession through the streets, past homes and workplaces, was a vibrant reminder that Christ was with them as a dear companion and guide. Every year on this day, a joyful procession winds through the streets of Rome from the Lateran cathedral. A few years ago, Pope John Paul II, deeply moved at the sight of the throng accompanying the sacred host, said that we ought to feel profoundly united with the faithful everywhere in the world at such a moment. Before our mind s eye all the Churches of the world, from East to West, from North to South, are present. Originally this feast was on the Thursday after Trinity Sunday, but after the calendar reform of 1970, its title was expanded from Corpus Christi to The Body and Blood of Christ and in the United States it was moved to the Sunday after Trinity Sunday. Even though Easter season ended two weeks ago, this beautiful feast is aglow with Easter light. Rev. James Field, Copyright J. S. Paluch Co. STAFF OF LIFE Bread is the staff of life. English saying
St. Hedwig"s Faith Formation Program The goal of participation in this program is to prepare oneself, as practicing Catholics, to receive the sacraments. Being Catholic is a lifelong endeavor and involves much more than receiving a select number of sacraments. It is a process that continues through one s life and ideally should reflect in one s daily life. Please come and join us. We will do registration in September 10 th, 2017 for the upcoming catechetical school year 2017-18. If you have any questions please contact rectory or Director of Religious Education Christopher Gospodarzec 631-875-8413 We look for Volunteer Religious Catechists or Assistant Catechists in our church. Please call for more info to Director of Religious Education 631-875-8413 Early Registration for our Religious Education Program will take place on: May 4th after Mass at 5.30pm in the Rectory. Contact: Christopher Gospodarzec, DRE 631-875-8413 or parish 516-354-0042, Visit us also on the parish website in the link of Faith Formation (Religious School) at: www.sthedwigfloralpark.org. Today s feast celebrates another central mystery of our faith the mystery of the Eucharist. Like the mystery of the Trinity, the real presence of the Body and Blood of Christ in the Eucharist can never be fully understood, but can only be believed. Just as the Israelites in the desert were invited to put their trust in God s word to them, we are invited to trust wholly in the word of Jesus. In today s Gospel Jesus promises to give us a share in his very own flesh and blood, and a share in eternal life besides. We are called to take him at his word and open our hearts to receive true nourishment and life from our participation in the Eucharist. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co., Inc. We would like to wish all of our fathers a very wonderful and Blessed Father s Day, filled with love and happiness. And for our deceased fathers, a special place with the Holy Family for all your love and sacrifices on our behalf. FATHERHOOD Blessed indeed is the man who hears many gentle voices call him father!
