Piotr FROM THE PASTOR S DESK Dear Parishioners and Friends of Saint Hedwig s Church. In the last few days we noticed that autumn had begun. Every day I think that the time passes very quickly. We changed the following month in the calendar. October began. As your priest and pastor, I encourage you to say the rosary-prayer through the entire month. In our church, Monday through Friday, every evening about 7:30pm we have a rosary-prayer. I also want to thank you for your commitment on last Sunday. All baby bottles were distributed and in three weeks we will collect them. They will support all the children and women who are in need. They provide maternity housing, medical care referrals, cribs, car seats, diapers and ALL other baby items that are needed. Remember, all it takes is your change in a baby bottle and a heartfelt prayer to make a big, positive difference for all those we serve. Being Catholic is a lifelong endeavor and involves much more than receiving a select number of sacraments. It is a process that continues through one s life and ideally should reflect in one s daily life. Please come and join us Our class program is held on Thursday: Grades 1-5 from 5:00pm to 6:00pm Grades 6-8 from 6:15pm to 7:20pm Angels Last week and this week we commemorate Archangels and Angels. We taught about them in religious program, especially in younger grades but let us not forget that their role is not limited to children only. What the church teaches us about angels? All of us have Guardian Angels. According to Paragraph 336 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church: From its beginning until death, human life is surrounded by their watchful care and intercession. "Beside each believer stands an angel as protector and shepherd leading him to life." Already here on earth the Christian life shares by faith in the blessed company of angels and men united in God. There is a Scriptural basis for this as well: Because you have made the Lord your refuge, the Most High your habitation, no evil shall befall you, no scourge come near your tent. For he will give his angels charge of you to guard you in all your ways. On their hands they will bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone. (Psalm 91:9-12). Our Guardian Angels love us and do everything within God s Will to protect us from harm. Sometimes though we reject God s protection, and by consequence theirs, when we reject God and we have to deal with the consequences of our sins when we do not repent. Our Guardian Angels, along with the Archangels and the other Angels, also intercede for us in prayer (Tobit 12:12, Revelation 5:8 and 8:3).
