The Gentiles are co-heirs, members of the same body and co-partners in the promise in Christ Jesus through the Gospel. Today we celebrate that Christ came to all of us, not just the Hebrews. He made us all one body with Him. We were all given different gifts; we all have different yet equally valuable roles to play in the Body of Christ. Ask God how He wants you to use your gifts so that we may all be one in this Year of Mercy. THE EPIPHANY OF THE LORD January 3, 2016 Rise up in splendor, Jerusalem! Your light has come, the glory of the Lord shines upon you. Isaiah 60:1 Epiphany of the Lord In this Jubilee Year of Mercy, Epiphany celebrates God s mercy shining on the magi from a guiding star. Their kingdoms were far from Jerusalem, their religions far from God s covenant with Israel. At first the star led the magi to Jerusalem, where they could recalculate their quest with the help of God s own GPS, the Jewish scriptures. How challenging and humbling for the magi to discover that they would find the world s Messiah not in a palace but with a poor couple in an insignificant village. That s where God s mercy, shining in the star, led the magi to worship Jesus, the Prince of Peace. Today the magi invite us to recalculate our life s journey during this Jubilee Year to follow the star of God s mercy along the way of humble love, to discover a renewed personal relationship with Jesus ourselves and so become guiding stars leading others who still walk in darkness to find the tru Savior of the World. This week s second collection is for Parish Obligations to the Diocese. Next weekend s second collection is designated for Higher Utility and Energy Costs. Blessed chalk and incense is located near the crèche to allow you to follow the tradition of writing over the doorway of your home the following: 20+C+M+B+16 as a sign of God s blessing for the New Year. HAPPY NEW YEAR Please welcome 2016 with faith, courage and enthusiasm. Let us be united in prayer, with new initiatives and harmonious cooperation to accomplish the mission handed down through Jesus Christ and exemplified in the life of our ancestors. May God through the intercession of the Blessed Mother and St. John Paul II continue to guide us. Happy New Year and Szczesliwego Nowego Roku! - Msgr. Tony and Fr. Gregory

Page 3 Words of gratitude - Father Gregory and I would like to express our gratitude for all your prayers and gifts extended to us through the Christmas Season. Needless to say your generosity and benevolence is a sign of your appreciation of our pastoral leadership. It is our common prayer throughout the year, but especially at this time of the year that our common destiny requires cooperation, sensitivity and vision. May God Bless each one of our parishioners and the children of St. Joseph School. Epiphany of the Lord/ Jubilee Year of Mercy In this Jubilee Year of Mercy, Epiphany celebrates God s mercy shining on the magi from a guiding star. At first the star led the magi to Jerusalem, where they could recalculate their quest with the help of God s own GPS, the Jewish scriptures. Today the magi invite us to recalculate our life s journey during this Jubilee Year to follow the star of God s mercy along the way of humble love, to discover a renewed personal relationship with Jesus ourselves and so become guiding stars leading other seekers to find Jesus, too. OPENING OF THE JUBILEE YEAR OF MERCY On Sunday, January 3rd at 3:00pm St. Joseph Basilica will officially open the Year of Mercy for our region. Rev. Michael Roy will be the Homilist. We invite clergy from local parishes. To attend. Our Parish Organizations and Ministries are encouraged to join parishioners to gather at our Basilica to ask for God s blessings on our family and those who will seek God s mercy and forgiveness at our Basilica throughout the Jubilee Year. Announcing the Year of Mercy, Pope Francis stated, The Church is called above all to be a credible witness to mercy, professing it and living it as a core of the revelation of Jesus Christ. During the Year of Mercy we will increase our devotional presence for the benefit of our parishioners and pilgrims: Jubilee Prayer after each mass Confessions 15 minutes prior to Mass on weekends Novena to Divine Mercy every first Sunday of the month at 3:00pm Recitation of Rosary before 4:00pm Mass on Saturday PM Other devotional opportunities will be announced soon. NATIONAL MIGRATION WEEK On Sunday, January 10th at the 9:30am Liturgy we will observe National Migration Week. This special annual celebration was established by the United States Conference of Bishops to reflect on the values, faith and Christian culture brought to this country by millions of immigrants. In fact, the Roman Catholic Church in the United States is the Church of immigrants. Our school children bearing their country s flag and wearing their national costumes will participate. After Mass all are invited to the school cafeteria for a hospitality hour. NOVENA AND DEVOTION TO ST. JOSEPH To pray the Novena to St. Joseph during Christmas time is very significant. He was the one who stands on the threshold of the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Nativity of the Savior of the World places him in the center of this great historical event. His role as the Foster Father of Jesus is very visible in Liturgical readings, such as searching for a place for Jesus to be born, escaping to Egypt to avoid the persecution of Herod, return to Nazareth, searching for Jesus in the Temple area, etc. His close relationship to Jesus Christ should motivate us to pray to God through his intercession for our needed graces at the beginning of the New Year. Please join us on Wednesday, Jan., 6th at 7:00pm together with the members of the St. Joseph Polish Women s Club who will assist in bringing our Patron s statue into the sanctuary. Please write your intentions on slips provided in the chapel to be read during devotions. ST. Świeć, bo przyszło twe światło i chwała Pańska rozbłyska nad tobą.(iz 60, 1) Mędrcy? Magowie? - Możliwość spowiedzi 15 min. przed każdą Mszą św. w weekendy - Nabożeństwo do Miłosierdzia Bożego w każdą pierwszą niedzielę miesiąca - Koronka do Miłosierdzia Bożego przed Mszą o godz. 16:00 w soboty. Inne okolicznościowe wydarzenia związane z obchodami Roku Miłosierdzia będą ogłaszane na bieżąco. TYDZIEŃ MIGRACJI W najbliższą niedzielę, 10 stycznia na Mszy św. o godz. 9:30 rozpoczniemy obchody Tygodnia Migracji.
