THE MOST HOLY TRINITY May 22, 2016 The love of God has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit. Romans 5:5b JOURNEY OF FAITH We are on a long and eventful journey. Today s readings for Trinity Sunday succinctly cover the depth and breadth of our human travels. The very beginnings of our journey are revealed in the reading from Proverbs. God s plan filled with divine wisdom was born before the earth was made. In today s Gospel, Jesus speaks of his own personal journey. He has come from the Father and will return to the Father. Only then will the Advocate the Spirit of Truth take us onward. This does not diminish the fact that the journey will be hard. The very setting of the Gospel is the night before Jesus died. As Saint Paul writes to the Romans, We even boast of our afflictions, knowing that affliction produces endurance, and endurance, proven character, and proven character, hope. Ultimately, our human journey is modeled by the Holy Trinity a family of love among Father, Son, and Spirit that we are all called to emulate. Reminder - Alice in Wonderland, Jr. presented by our St. Joseph School students will be held on Sat., May 21st at 7:00pm and Sun., May 22nd at 1:00pm at the Webster Town Hall. May Devotions - Sunday after 11:00am Mass - Mon. through Fri., at 7:00pm and on Sat. before 4:00pm Mass. FORTY HOUR DEVOTION REFLECTIONS Forty Hour Devotion is one of the many para-liturgical celebrations which provides the opportunity to grow in faith, refresh our spirituality and obtain needed graces in our daily pilgrimage of life. This Eucharistic celebration of Forty Hours has a long tradition in our St. Joseph Basilica family and is part of our heritage. I am most grateful for all parishioners and especially parish ministries who came for adoration during the day, or took part in evening devotions. Thank You to our Choir and visiting clergy from various parishes who were present for this solemn devotion. Stearns Vespers on Sunday and closing devotions on Tuesday with the First Communion Class was moving and inspirational. It would be difficult to imagine somebody who claims to be Catholic, but neglects to take advantage to be engaged with a supernatural power and bond with others during this solemn devotion. -Msgr. 3 Page 3 Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity The word mercy, Pope Francis declared in his announcement of the Jubilee Year of Mercy, reveals the very mystery of the Most Holy Trinity (Misericordiae Vultus, 2). For mercy is how God comes to meet us; mercy is the fundamental law helping us recognize everyone as brothers and sisters; mercy is the bridge connecting God and humanity, opening our hearts to the hope of being loved forever despite our sinfulness. God s selfrevelation as a life-giving, love-sharing Trinity of Persons draws us closer to God in friendship and communion. Both Judaism and Islam consider mercy one of God s most important attributes. Israel unceasingly proclaims God boundless in mercy. Islam addresses the Creator as Merciful and Kind, believing divine mercy limitless, its doors always open. May this Jubilee Year of Mercy, Pope Francis prays, open us to more fervent dialogue, deepen our mutual understanding, eliminate all closed-minded disrespect, and drive out every form of violence and discrimination. SOLEMNITY OF BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST On Sunday, May 29th, we will celebrate the Feast of the Holy Body and Blood of Christ, also referred to as Corpus Christi at the 11:00am Mass followed by procession to four altars. The first altar will be at the St. Joseph Rectory, second altar on Washington Street, third altar at Guadalupe Chapel at Sacred Heart Church, concluding at the Emmaus Center on East Main Street. We ask parishioners together with our parish organizations carrying their respective banners, parish ministries, First Communion Class (in proper attire), Children of Mary, Altar Servers and Boy Scouts to take part in this solemn procession. Rev. Msgr. Anthony Czarnecki s 50th Anniversary of Ordination - will be celebrated on Sunday, June 5th with a bilingual Mass of Thanksgiving at 11:00am at our Basilica followed by a reception at the PACC, Harris St. This special occasion is open to parishioners. Tickets are $40pp for buffet of prime rib, chicken and baked fish and children (under 12) will be offered chicken tenders and macaroni and cheese for $10. Tickets are available at the rectory on a first come first serve basis. Proceeds will benefit the St. Joseph School Gymnasium. Partners in Charity Appeal - There is still time to help our parish reach our 2016 goal of $31,300 and also at the same time assist those in great need through the various programs sponsored by the Diocese of Worcester. Pledge cards are available in the pews or you may place your contribution in the weekend collection basket. We are awaiting your donation to help us help others. JOSEPH SCHOOL NEWS Living Wax Museum - On Fri., Apr. 29th, Ms. Bailey s 5th grade class presented a two-part project that focused on reading biographies and dressing up by portraying a certain person. Parents and students loved being part of this endeavor. Learning about Monuments - Sr. Jeanne Akalski s 4th grade class learned about monuments that come in various sizes and shapes and are made from many kinds of material. The students were challenged to design a monument of their own. After much enthusiasm and creativity each student had the opportunity to present their inspirations to their classmates and display their models. One student designed a monument to honor Sr. Jeanne as The World s Best Teacher because Sr. Jeanne made him the greatest student he could be and she helps him with his reading. Special Persons Day - on Tues., May 17 our SJS students honored grandparents, legal guardians and people who play an important role in their life. Many people met in the cafeteria,.. a Prayer Service at our Basilica and return to school to witness the learning teaching process. It was a special day for students and their guests. JOSEPH Throughout the years we have learned that St. Joseph s power of intercession in Heaven is inexpressibly great. Therefore, let us place our boundless confidence in him in all the affairs of our life. KRONIKA PARAFIALNA NIEDZIELA TRÓJCY PRZENAJŚWIĘTSZEJ 22 maja 2016 Miłość Boża rozlana jest w sercach naszych przez Ducha Świętego. (Rz 5, 5b) Wielbimy odrębność Osób, jedność w istocie i równość w majestacie. Wielbimy, i nic nadto, ponieważ przerasta nas Tajemnica Boga; wielbimy, ponieważ dotykamy jej zaledwie opuszkiem wiary; wielbimy, ponieważ przeczuwamy, że wciąż pozostajemy zanurzeni w miłości Trzech. Wielbimy pokornym umysłem, który bez Ducha Prawdy o tym największym cudzie nie byłby w stanie nic powiedzieć. Wielbimy sercem prostym, które nie będzie nawet próbować przelewać muszelką oceanu. Wielbimy z całym Kościołem tą najprostszą modlitwą: Chwała Ojcu, i Synowi, i Duchowi Świętemu.

5 Page 5 ALICJA W KRAINIE CZARÓW Uczniowie naszej szkoły zapraszają serdecznie na przedstawienie Alicja w Krainie Czarów Jr. Przedstawienie jest wystawiane w ten weekend w Sali Urzędu Miasta. Pierwsze przedstawienie w sobotę, 21 maja o godz. 19:00, drugie przedstawienie w niedzielę, 22 maja o godz. 13:00. Bardzo serdecznie zapraszamy. NABOŻEŃSTWO CZTERDZIESTOGODZINNE Adoracja Najświętszego Sakramentu to doskonała okazja do osobistego wzrostu w wierze. W naszej parafii w ubiegłym tygodniu przeżywaliśmy szczególną możliwość spotkania z Jezusem Eucharystycznym podczas Nabożeństwa Czterdziestogodzinnego. Jak zwykle mogliśmy odczuć atmosferę podniosłości podczas inauguracji i zakończenia trzydniowej Adoracji. Szczególne podziękowania należą się za to chórzystom pod dyrekcją pani Miry Cieślak, którzy poprzez piękny śpiew i wspaniała oprawę muzyczną pomogli nam głębiej przeżyć modlitewne spotkania. Dziękujemy również wszystkim parafianom, którzy znaleźli czas na wspólne uwielbienie Boga. Szkoda, że wielu parafian nie wykorzystało okazji do zbliżenia się do Tajmnicy Wiary jaką jest Eucharystia. Nosimy miano Chrzecijan - członków mistycznego Ciała Chrystusa, a zatem naszym życiem, centrum i fundamentem istnienia jest Eucharystia - prawdziwe Ciało Chrystusa. Zadajmy sobie pytanie: czy można być prawdziwym Chrześcijaninem bez żywej czci dla Eucharystii? UROCZYSTOŚĆ TRÓJCY ŚWIĘTEJ Słowo miłosierdzie zawarte w tytule ogłoszonego przez papieża Franciszka Roku Miłosierdzia ukazuje głębię misterium Trójcy Świętej, ponieważ poprzez miłosierdzie Bóg spotyka się z nami. Miłosierdzie pomaga nam również uznawać w sobie nawzajem braci i siostry. Stanowi ono również pomost pomiędzy Bogiem i ludzkością, otwiera serca na nadzieję bycia kochanym na zawsze pomimo naszych grzechów. Objawienie się Boga jako dająca życie Wspólnota Trzech Osób przyciąga nas do wspólnoty z Nim. Nie tylko Chrześcijanie, ale również Żydzi i Muzułmanie postrzegają Boże Miłosierdzie jako jeden z Jego najważniejszych atrybutów. Niech Jubileuszowy Rok Miłosierdzia otworzy nas na bardziej ożywiony dialog, pogłębi wzajemne zrozumienie, eliminuje brak szacunku i pomaga nam usuwać spośród nas wszelkie formy przemocy i dyskryminacji. JUBILEUSZ 50 LAT KAPŁAŃSTWA Nasz proboszcz, ks. Prałat Antoni Czarnecki obchodzi w tym roku jubileusz 50-lecia święceń kapłańskich. Uroczysta Msza św. Z okazji Jubileuszowa zostanie odprawiona 5 czerwca o godz. 11:00 w naszej Bazylice. Druga cześć uroczystości odbędzie się w PACC. Bilety wstępu na przyjęcie są dostępne na plebanii w cenie $40 od osoby dorosłej i $10 od dziecka do 12 lat. Dochód z przyjęcia będzie przeznaczony na budowę Sali Gimnastycznej. PARTNERS IN CHARITY Ciągle jeszcze prowadzimy zbiórkę na Partners in Charity. W tym roku zostaliśmy poproszeni o zebranie aż $ Prosimy tych parafian, którzy jeszcze nie złożyli swojej ofiary na tan cel, aby rozważyli wsparcie dla potrzebujących w naszej diecezji, które dokonuje się poprzez wiele programów organizowanych z zebranych funduszy. Pamiętajmy, że Pan Bóg będzie nas sądził z miłości względem siebie i nagradzał za otwartość i wspaniałomyślność okazaną tym, których Jezus nazwał braćmi najmniejszymi. Ofiary lub zobowiązania można składać za pomocą kopert znajdujących się w ławkach lub bezpośrednio w biurze parafialnym. Bóg Zapłać! NOWENNA DO ŚW. JÓZEFA Poprzez kilka lat trwania w naszej parafii Nowenny do św. Józefa mogliśmy się przekonać jak wspaniałym orędownikiem jest nasz Patron. Dlatego nie powinniśmy marnować ani jednej okazji do wypraszania u Niego pomocy w ważnych dla nas sprawach. Przynoszone głęboko w sercu modlitewne intencje możemy zapisywać na specjalnych karteczkach znajdujących się w kaplicy Matki Bożej. W tym tygodniu w procesji figura św. Józefa pójdą Rycerze Kolumba. FESTIWAL Już tylko 4 tygodnie do Festiwalu!!! Najbliższe spotkanie festiwalowe we wtorek, 24 maja o godz. 19:00 w szkolnej kafeterii. Zapraszamy na nie wszystkich, którzy chcą podzielić się swoimi sugestiami i pomysłami, aby uczynić nasz Festiwal jeszcze lepszym i bardziej udanym wydarzeniem. - Potrzebujemy chętnych do butików z loterią 50/50 oraz Wheel Barrow of Cheer!
