Philippians 3:8 STRAIGHT LINES God writes straight with crooked lines, the saying goes. The power of Paul s testimony that everything is junk but knowledge of Jesus and the power of his resurrection is a straight enough message. And, God knows, Paul had a crooked journey before his blinding insight straight from God. Through Isaiah, God reminds us all that the past great works were as nothing compared to the new creation. Can t you see it? we are asked, as if we are still wandering along our crooked lines. And there is no straighter line than that between the woman whose misery is intense and the God whose mercy in Jesus is deeper and more acute. You just can t beat this kind of good news. This week s second collection is for Higher Utility and Energy Costs. Next weekend s second collection is designated for Catholic Relief Services. SAINT JOSEPH POLISH WOMEN S CLUB Today, Sunday, March 13th, we welcome members of our St. Joseph Polish Women s Club to the 8:15am Liturgy. This organization was established more than 60 years ago to support our school, faculty, the Felician Sisters and to foster the education of our students. May God bless the Executive Board and all the members for all their good work. Following Mass they will gather at Lodge Restaurant for their annual breakfast.

3 Page 3 PILGRIMAGE/ARCHDIOCESE OF HARTFORD PARISHES Today, March 13th we welcome pilgrims from the Archdiocese of Hartford during this Jubilee Year to our Basilica. They will walk through the Holy Door and participate at 11:00am liturgy followed by lunch in the school cafeteria. At 2:00pm they will participate in a Holy Hour, Adoration, Gorzkie Zale, Benediction and blessing of religious devotional articles. We appreciate their presence especially Rev. Dariuz Gosciniak, Pastor of Holy Cross Church. PARTNERS IN CHARITY Thank you to all parishioners who have responded to our Annual Partners in Charity Appeal. Giving from your heart allows us to serve thousands of families throughout Worcester County. This week through your generosity we received $2784 toward our goal. Please consider a pledge (cards in the pew) or use your envelope in your monthly packet to help our parish to reach its goal of $31,300. SOLEMNITY OF ST. JOSEPH On March 19th we will celebrate the Feast Day of St. Joseph, our Patron. A solemn Mass will celebrated at 4:00pm. This solemnity provides us the opportunity to obtain a Plenary or Partial Indulgence under usual conditions. This is the first time this Feast falls on Palm Sunday weekend and we invite parish ministries to join us. Reminder: Pilgrimage to Vienna and Poland - July 5 16, 2016; ten nights/eleven days cost from Boston $3,860pp, double occupancy. PEREGRINATIO OF THE DIVINE MERCY Various devotional practices are very prevalent especially in the Lenten season. For example, adoration to the Blessed Sacrament is quite popular. An important opportunity is to accept the image of the Divine Mercy to your home. While the Icon is certainly not a sacrament, it is an extraordinary image of grace. We encourage families of our parish to invite the King of Mercy to reign in their homes. Many people reject God s grace and according to St. Faustina Jesus has a great desire to bestow the needed blessings on all sinners. By accepting the Divine Mercy image in your home, you may obtain all the graces and blessing others reject. Please call the rectory to reserve the image for a week. Accompanying literature is available. PALM SUNDAY On Palm Sunday, (March 20th) we commemorate the Lord s entrance into Jerusalem. With this celebration we enter Holy Week, when we reflect on the passion of Jesus Christ which leads to the Resurrection. Our school students and their parents are asked to attend the 9:30am Family Mass. A solemn procession with palms will take place at our Basilica before the 11:00am Mass with the participation of the Sacred Heart Society and the altar servers. During the Mass the Passion of Jesus Christ will be sung by soloists and our Basilica Choir. We invite parishioners, members of our Parish Ministries and Organizations to join us and relive this beautiful solemnity. CATHOLIC RELIEF SERVICES COLLECTION Next Sunday, March 20th our parish will be taking up the Catholic Relief Services Collection which funds six Catholic agencies. This year s theme, Help Jesus in disguise, reminds us that through your generosity, you can help ease the burdens of our brothers and sisters around the globe. These agencies are advocates for immigrants, provide humanitarian aid and work for world peace. Your support truly will make a difference. PENITENTIAL SERVICE We have scheduled the Sacrament of Penance on Monday, March 21 at 6:00pm. Easter confession is deeply rooted in the Catholic tradition and cherished for centuries by all the faithful. The presence of additional clergy from area parishes will make confession more convenient. We have to be spiritually prepared to celebrate the anniversary of Jesus resurrection on Easter Sunday. MERCY SUNDAY Mercy Sunday, will be observed in our parish on April 3rd as a day of forgiveness, reconciliation and peace. Before we forgive others we must first forgive ourselves. This Jubilee Year is an excellent opportunity to address these issues in our personal, our family and community life. 4 Page 4 Mark your calendar - on Saturday, April 16th we are planning a Pilgrimage to the National Shrine of the Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, MA. Bus will leave Webster at 9:00am, we will take part in daily events including lunch at the Shrine, Stations of the Cross, Chaplet to the Divine Mercy and Mass and return about 7:00pm. KRONIKA PARAFIALNA PIATA NIEDZIELA WIELKIEGO POSTU 13 marca 2016 Wszystko uznaję za stratę ze względu na najwyższą wartość poznania Chrystusa Jezusa, Pana mojego. (Fil 3, 8) Na świecie ciągle zbyt wielu jest tych, którzy potępiają, a także zbyt wielu obojętnych i pobłażliwych. I wciąż za mało jest ludzi prawdziwie miłosiernych. Jeśli zajmujesz się sądzeniem innych, to znaczy, że zapominasz o tym, iż sam jesteś grzesznikiem. Zapomniałeś, że Jezus przychodzi nie do tych, którzy potępiają, ale do tych, którzy są grzeszni. Szkoda czasu i energii na porównywanie się z innymi, na sądzenie ich. A przede wszystkim szkoda nie skorzystać z łaski przebaczenia, którą Bóg każdego dnia chce nas obdarzać. Dzisiejsza druga kolekta jest przeznaczona na pokrycie wyższych kosztów utrzymana i energii. Druga kolekta w przyszłą niedzielę będzie przeznaczona na Catholic Relief Services.

JÓZEFA Dzień 19 marca jest szczególnie uroczysty w naszej parafii. Dzięki temu, że nasza świątynia została podniesiona do godności Bazyliki, w tym, uroczystym dniu możemy otrzymać łaskę odpustu cząstkowego lub zupełnego. SPOWIEDŹ Spowiedź wielkopostna dla naszych parafian odbędzie się w Wielki Poniedziałek, 21 marca o godz. 18:00. Zyskiwanie Odpustów Odpust jest to darowanie przed Bogiem kary doczesnej za grzechy, zgładzone już co do winy. Dostępuje go chrześcijanin odpowiednio usposobiony i pod pewnymi, określonym warunkami, za pośrednictwem Kościoła, który jako szafarz owoców odkupienia rozdaje i prawomocnie przydziela zadośćuczynienie ze skarbca zasług Chrystusa i świętych. Odpust zupełny jest szczególnym darem łaski Bożej, dzięki któremu wierny będący w stanie łaski uświęcającej w sakramentalnej spowiedzi może uzyskać również darowanie kar czyśćcowych. Nie można uzyskać odpustu nie będąc w stanie łaski uświęcającej. Tylko ten jest zdolny do uzyskania odpustu znajduje się w stanie łaski. Nadto wierny powinien wzbudzić sobie wewnętrzną postawę całkowitego oderwania od grzechu, również powszedniego (a więc także od nałogu). Odpust zupełny można zyskać tylko jeden raz dziennie, albo dla samego siebie albo dla jednej z dusz cierpiących w czyśćcu. Do otrzymania odpustu jednak wymagane jest nadto spełnienie trzech następujących, tzw. zwykłych warunków: 1) wyznać grzechy, przystępując do sakramentalnej spowiedzi; 2) przyjąć sakramentalną Komunię świętą; 3) pomodlić się według intencji Ojca świętego. Wybór modlitwy w papieskich intencjach pozostawia się wiernym, ale zaleca się Ojcze nasz i Zdrowaś Maryjo. PEREGRYNACJA TRYPTYKU MIŁOSIERDZIA BOŻEGO. Zapraszamy i zachęcamy parafian do celebrowania misterium Bożego Miłosierdzia poprzez przyjęcie Tryptyku Miłosierdzia Bożego na tygodniową adorację we własnym domu. Osoby pragnące przyjąć Tryptyk prosimy o kontakt z Biurem parafialnym w celu ustalenia daty nawiedzenia i uzyskania szczegółowych informacji. WIELKOPOSTNE SPOTKANIA W ciągu Wielkiego Postu będziemy mieli okazję do uczestnictwa w serii spotkań z różnorodnymi prelegentami, na tematy dotyczące naszej wiary i osobistego rozwoju. Zaplanowane zostały następujące prelekcje: 14 marca ks. Jonathan Slavinskas: Znaczenie wiary we współczesnym społeczeństwie. Aby zarejestrować się na udział w spotkaniu (zapisy są potrzebne dla lepszej organizacji spotkania) prosimy wykorzystać formularze zgłoszeniowe, które znajdują się przy wejściach do Bazyliki lub zadzwonić do biura parafialnego. Wszystkie spotkania będą prowadzone w języku angielskim. PARTNERS IN CHARITY W ubiegłym tygodniu rozpoczęliśmy zbiórkę na Partners in Charity. Serdecznie dziękujemy za złożone ofiary.
