Page Two August 10, 2008 Office of the Archbishop Post Office Box 1979 Chicago, Illinois 60690-1979 July 9, 2008 Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Since 1943, the Archbishop of Chicago, through the Catholic League for Religious Assistance to Poland has appealed to you to come to the aid of the Church in Poland. The Primate of Poland, Joseph Cardinal Glemp and Archbishop Joseph Michalik, the President of the Episcopal Conference, continue to emphasize the necessity of advanced education at the Pontifical College, the Pontifical Institute in Rome, and the Polish Seminary in Paris, France. The Polish clergy selected for these studies become the administrators, canon lawyers, and seminary rectors of the dioceses of Poland. The annual cost of providing this formation is in excess of $300,000. The diocese in Poland depend on our generosity to cover these expenses for advanced canonical and formational education. Traditionally, the Catholic League s Annual Appeal has been taken up in parishes on the weekend nearest the Feast of Our Lady of Czestochowa, August 26. The collection in St. Priscilla will take place the weekend of August 17, 2008. Through your parish s special collection or your individual contributions, the Church in Poland can continue its tradition of faith. Individual donations may be mailed to the Catholic League for Religious Assistance to Poland, 6002 W. Berteau Ave., Chicago, IL 60634-1630. Much depends on our united effort. I thank you for your generosity in the name of the faithful in Poland. Pryscylli, ta zbiórka odbędzie się w najbliższą sobotę i niedzielę, 16-go i 17-go sierpnia. Dzięki specjalnym zbiórkom w Waszych parafiach, bądź też indywidualnym donacjom, Kościół w Polsce może dalej kontynuować tradycję wiary. Indywidualne ofiary mogą być wysłane na adres: Catholic League for Religious Assistance to Poland, 6002 W. Berteau Ave., Chicago, IL 60634. Wiele zależy od Waszego wspólnego wysiłku. Dziękuję Wam za Waszą ofiarność w imieniu wiernych w Polsce. Szczerze oddany w Chrystusie, Franciszek Kardynał George, O.M.I. Arcybiskup Chicago

I know we are in the middle of the summer and the thoughts of starting a new Religious Education school year may seem a bit premature, but it is never too soon to begin looking ahead. I am glad to welcome back teachers from last year, but we can always use extra help. Who are we looking for? Anyone who has a desire to share their faith and who has a love for children. I think we have a lot of those people in our parish. People who love their faith and their parish and want to bring the Word of God to those who do not attend Catholic school. Why not give it a try? Volunteer as a Catechist or an Aide to help a Catechist. It will make a difference in your life and the lives of the children you teach. Consider it your part in the parish stewardship program giving of your time to help the Church. Won t you help by volunteering as a Cathechist? For more information, please call the Rectory at 773-545-8840 and leave your name and your phone number and you will be contacted.
