Przed kilkoma dniami zajrzałem do kalendarza i zauważyłem datę: 22 czerwiec początek lata. Pomyślałem, że dla dzieci i młodzieży to początek wakacji a dla dorosłych to okres urlopów. Przy tej okazji chciałbym życzyć naszym studentom wspaniałych wakacji i bezpiecznego odpoczynku. Chcę również wszystkich prosić o zachowanie ostrożności i zwrócenie uwagi na troskę o nasze dzieci i o siebie nawzajem. Chodzi o to, aby wszyscy bezpiecznie wrócili do swoich domów i do naszej wspólnoty. Jako wasz Proboszcz życzę dużo błogosławieństwa i opieki bożej w czasie naszych wyjazdów i powrotów. Dear Parishioners and Friends of Saint Hedwig s Church. A few days ago, I looked at the calendar and I noticed the date: June 22 nd - the beginning of summer. I thought that for children and youths it is the beginning of vacation and for adults as well. At this time I would like to wish our students a splendid holidays and a safe rest. I also want to ask all to pay attention and care for our children and each other. The one thing I pray for is that everybody return, after vacations, to their homes and to our community. As your Pastor, I wish you all many blessings and God s divine care during our departures and returns. I also want to inform all that in July and in August we will want to continue the project of the second sacristy. This room for families with children will facilitate, very much, the participation in Holy Mass to little children as well as and to parents. During this Sunday, the second collection will be for the air-conditioning system in the church, Next Sunday we will collect donations for the second sacristy. I am very pleased with the special financial support I have received for these two mentioned projects. I wish all a successful and safe holiday, Your Pastor, Fr. Peter Chcę również poinformować wszystkich, że w lipcu i w sierpniu będziemy chcieli wykonać prace przy remoncie drugiej zakrystii. To pomieszczenie dla rodzin z dziećmi bardzo ułatwi uczestniczenie we Mszy Świętej małym dzieciom jak również i rodzicom. W czasie obecnej niedzieli druga kolekta jest zbierana na system klimatyzacji kościoła (air conditioning). Następne niedziele będziemy kontynuować zbiórkę na remont drugiej zakrystii.
FEAR NOT How do people find hope in the face of suffering and death? That is the question addressed by today s scriptures. We hear of the suffering of Jeremiah and the psalmist. We hear of the death that reigned from Adam to Moses (Romans 5:14). We hear of the fears of the Twelve as Jesus sends them out into the world to preach and heal. Through all this tribulation one message rings out loud and clear Do not be afraid! TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION The Eucharistic Prayers at the heart of our liturgy have a long history, beginning with the extemporaneous prayers of the early Christians. The presiders gave thanks from their hearts, not from any prearranged text, over the gifts of bread and wine. When the assembly had the sense that enough was said, someone would call out Amen! and that was that. For the most part, the plan flowed directly from Jewish meal prayers, which always recalled God s mighty deeds. Some other markers and signposts were added almost everywhere fairly early, like the presider s call to attention: Lift up your hearts! Scholars have provided us with translations of many early texts. These have actually helped us craft new liturgical prayers, because until the liturgical reforms of forty years ago, no one could recall any prayer but the Roman Canon, now called Eucharistic Prayer I. For hundreds of years in the West, it was our only Eucharistic Prayer, and it was only in Latin. But the history of our Eucharistic Prayers is amazingly fruitful, and models have come down to us that have yielded new insights and expressions. The old custom of improvising texts according to a master plan has not endured, but we have now rediscovered a plan of standardizing the text while allowing for a great variety. Rev. Being Catholic is a lifelong endeavor and involves much more than receiving a select number of sacraments. It is a process that continues through one s life and ideally should reflect in one s daily life. Please come and join us.
