COURSE OF INVESTMENT PROCESS Average time necessary to carry out the investment on railway section of 60-80 km : - Studies from 1.5 to 2 years (economic and financial analyses, maps for design purposes, preparation of tender documentation for selecting contractor for preparing building and executive designs terms of reference) - Awarding contract to design office c-ca 6 months from call for tenders, provided no protests occur - Design documentation from 1.5 to 2 years (programming and spatial concept, building and excutive designs, environmental report with application for environmental decision, land purchase, application for location decision, preparation of tender documentation for awarding works contract terms of reference) - EU application (agreement with Center for EU Transport Projects) - Awarding the contract c-ca 6 months from call for tenders, provided no protests occur - Works execution c-ca 2 years for section of 60-80 km of line, partly in urban area Total time necessary for project implementation c-ca 7.5 year In design and build type contract c-ca 5 years

RANGE OF BUILDING WORKS Typical railway investments cover: - Replacement of tracs on stations and open routes, permanent way, improvement of track geometry and subgrade - Drainage system on stations, open routes and level crossings - Replacement of telecommunication and power supply devices - Elimination of modernisation of level crossings, construction of parallel roads or fly-overs, - Modernisation of existing engineering structures, buildings, and traffic controlling posts - Platforms and utility infrastructure - Elements of envionmental protection - Elimination of collisions with other networks.
