Confirm desired date at the church before making other arrangements. At least one of the engaged persons (or their parents) must be a registered and active parishioner of St. Priscilla. Weddings are not scheduled on Sunday. BAPTISMS: English Baptisms will be held on the second and fourth Sundays of the month at 1:30 PM. Polish Baptisms will be held on the first and third Sundays of the month at 1:30 PM. Attendance at Baptismal Preparation class is mandatory. Register by calling the Rectory. 3 Third Sunday of Easter Page Three A TIME OF TRANSITION... My Dear Parishioners: I recently met with Archbishop Cupich. Through this meeting it was decided that my term as Pastor of St. Priscilla Parish would be coming to an end. My meeting with the Archbishop was very cordial. I was pleased that the Archbishop asked to meet with me, despite his extremely busy schedule, in order that he could know me better. Shortly after that meeting, he came to a decision that the Archdiocese could use my talents and skills in another setting for the benefit of the Archdiocese. To that end, he has appointed me to be the Administrator of St. Symphorosa Parish on the South Side of Chicago with the option of becoming Pastor there in the future. I have accepted what Archbishop Cupich sees as an opportunity for serving the Church of Chicago in this capacity. I would like to express my deepest and most sincere thanks to you, my dear Parishioners, for all your prayers, support and good wishes during this time of transition. I am filled, of course, with mixed emotions and feelings, sad to be leaving this wonderful community but at the same time, hopeful for this opportunity to serve in another way. In the same way that you received me as your Pastor and took me into your hearts 13 years ago, I am sure that you will extend the same welcome, warmth and cooperation to the Pastor who will succeed me here at St. Priscilla. Archbishop Cupich and I are in complete agreement that this is the best thing at this time, so hopefully, you too, will accept this decision in an agreeable way. Before I will leave, we will have the opportunity of meeting with each other most likely in May. Once again THANK YOU for your prayers for me and your new Pastor. Fr. Idzi NADCHODZI CZAS ZMIANY... Drodzy Parafianie: W ostatnim czasie odbyłem spotkanie z ks. Arcybiskupem Błażejem Cupich. Podczas tego spotkania została podjęta decyzja, że czas mojego proboszczowania w Parafii św. Pryscylli wkrótce dobiegnie końca. Z radością przyjąłem wiadomość, że ks. Arcybiskup wyraził chęć spotkania się ze mną, pomimo swojego bardzo napiętego rozkładu zajęć. Spotkanie nasze z ks. Arcybiskupem było bardzo serdeczne. Ks. Arcybiskup podczas tego spotkania pragnął dowiedzieć się czegoś więcej na temat mojej osoby i mojej pracy w Archidiecezji Chicago. W krótkim czasie po spotkaniu, ks Arcybiskup podjął decyzję, iż powinienem wykorzystać moje talenty i uzdolnienia w innym miejscu dla dobra naszej Archidiecezji. Owocem naszego spotkania była propozycja, a następnie nominacja na Administratora parafii św Symforozy, (St. Symphorosa Parish) w południowej części miasta Chicago, a następnie proboszcza tejże parafii. Propozycję tę zaakceptowałem, jako nowe wyzwanie w służbie dla dobra Archidiecezji Chicago w zaproponowanej formie. Moi Drodzy, pragnę w tym miejscu wyrazić moje najgłębsze i najserdeczniejsze podziękowanie wobec Was, moich parafian za wszystkie Wasze modlitwy, duchowe wsparcie i wyrazy życzliwości podczas tego przejściowego okresu. Nie ukrywam także, że napełniają mnie mieszane uczucia a także i smutek z powodu opuszczenia tak wspaniałej wspólnoty parafialnej, ale równocześnie napawa mnie nadzieja, że będę mógł służyć Kościołowi w inny sposób. Ufam, że tak jak przyjęliście mnie jako Waszego Proboszcza 13 lat temu, tak proszę, abyście w taki sam sposób powitali mojego następcę w tej parafii z otwartymi sercami i pragnieniem współpracy dla dobra tej Parafii. Zarówno ks. Arcybiskup jak i ja zgadzamy się całkowicie, że będzie to najlepsze rozwiązanie sprawy i sądzę, że Wy również zaakceptujecie zgodnie tę decyzję. Zanim opuszczę parafię, będziemy mieli okazję do wspólnego spotkania się z wszystkimi parafianami po Mszach świętych w jedną z niedziel w miesiącu Maju. Raz jeszcze Dziękuję wam wszystkim za Wasze modlitwy w mojej intencji i w intencji Waszego nowego księdza Proboszcza. Ks. Idzi

4 Page Four April 10, 2016 SPIRITUAL REFLECTION Jubilee of Mercy April 10 Third Sunday of Easter How appropriate today s Gospel for this Jubilee Year of Mercy, both because of the breakfast Jesus provides ( a charcoal fire with fish on it and bread ) and the number of fish in Peter s net ( one hundred fifty-three ) (John 21:11 12). Of the fish, Saint Augustine suggests that the roasted fish is the suffering Christ. Saint Gregory the Great adds that Christ lowered himself to swim in the water of our humanity; to be caught in the net of our death; to be roasted in his Passion on the fire of suffering. Saint Jerome claims that one hundred fifty-three represents the full number of known species of fish, signifying that the Church s net has room for all our widely diverse humanity, securing our unity-in-diversity in the hands of Peter and his successors. Having received God s mercy as the beating heart of the Gospel, may the Church we pattern [our] behavior after the Son of God who went out to everyone without exception (Misericordiae Vultus, 12). -Peter Scagnelli, Copyright J. The St. Priscilla Polish Group organized and celebrated a traditional Easter breakfast which is called Swięconka with our Pastor, Fr. Idzi, and Associate Pastor, Fr. Marcin. The Easter breakfast took place in the Rectory Round Room on April 3, after the 10:30 am Mass. The members of the Polish Group brought home made traditional Polish dishes, including: Herring (śledzie), bread, ham, vegetable salad, and many types of cakes to share.
