At least one of the engaged persons (or their parents) must be a registered and active parishioner of St. Priscilla. Weddings are not scheduled on Sunday. Maciej s Message On the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord, please allow me to quote Pope Benedict XVI: Here on earth, we are called to look up to heaven, to turn our minds and hearts to the inexpressible mystery of God. We are called to look towards this divine reality, to which we have been called from our creation. For there we find life s ultimate meaning." Full of the power of the Holy Spirit, let us go and teach the world about Christ, who is the way, the truth and the life. Christ, through his death, resurrection and glorious ascension into heaven, gave us the gift of eternal life and a place in the Father's house in heaven. Through our lives, let us preach the Good News of salvation. This week we will celebrate the first Thursday, Friday and Saturday of the month. I invite you to Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Confession, and prayer of the Holy Rosary. You can find more information about our services on the following pages. Next Sunday is Pentecost Sunday, which marks the end of the Easter season. Let us spiritually prepare ourselves for this important moment in the life of the Church and each one of us. In Prayer, Fr. By patrzeć w kierunku rzeczywistości Bożej, do której od stworzenia powołany jest człowiek. W niej kryje się ostateczny sens życia. Pełni mocy Ducha Świętego idźmy zatem i głośmy światu Chrystusa, który jest drogą, prawdą i życiem. Chrystusa, który przez swoją śmierć, zmartwychwstanie i chwalebne wniebowstąpienie podarował nam dar życia wiecznego i mieszkanie w domu Ojca w niebie. Swoim życiem głośmy Dobrą Nowinę o zbawieniu. W tym tygodniu wypada pierwszy czwartek, piątek i sobota miesiąca. Jak jest w naszym parafialnym zwyczaju zapraszam was na adorację Najświętszego Sakramentu, spowiedź św. i modlitwę różańcową. 6 Page Six May 28, 2017 Our homeless veterans need your help. The Knights of Columbus- Mater Christi Council #14284 will be collecting NEW Bath Towels for homeless veterans. We need your help to collect 700 NEW bath towels that will be distributed at the Chicago Standdown, June 9-10, 2017 at the General Jones Armory, 5200 S. Cottage Grove, Chicago, Illinois Bring your towel donation to mass the Memorial Day weekend of May th and put them in the box in the back of church. The Knights will bring your donation to the Chicago Standdown and give them to our needy veterans. God Bless You for your donation. You can also make a monetary donation towards the purchase of a new towel. There will be a Knight of Columbus in the back of church to accept your donations. History of the Chicago Standdown In 1993 the first Standdown in Chicago was held in Humboldt Park. A stumbling, fumbling, but committed group of volunteers, veterans organizations, and community service providers planned and executed the event which was attended by 257 homeless veterans. For three days veterans were offered medical services, housing opportunities, employment assistance, food, clothing, and a chance for rest and relaxation. At its completion, volunteers were fired up with ideas for the improvement and growth of this program. Since that first Standdown, the non-for-profit, Chicago Veterans Economic Development Council, has developed a strong group of community agencies, federal agencies, veterans service organizations, corporations and volunteers that offer two Standdowns each year in the Chicago area. The Summer Standdown is typically offered on the south side of Chicago and provides the widest range of services possible for two days. The Winter Standdown is generally on the north side of Chicago and is a one day event intended to prepare homeless veterans for the difficult winter months, focusing on winter clothing and housing resources. Both of these events will service between 700 and 800 veterans from the Chicagoland area. Soon after our first Standdown, we recognized two unexpected benefits. First, it provided an opportunity for veterans to reach out to fellow veterans who were struggling. We find that veterans are incredibly generous with their time and talents and offering assistance can be a morale booster or them as well. Veterans helping veterans is a key feature of the Standdown. Second, service agencies who participate benefit from the networking that goes on between agencies as they learn more about each other and the resources available for their clients. This makes them more effective with their veterans clients throughout the year.

7 Ascension of the Lord Page Seven Religious Educations News The last class for Religious Education was on April 22nd. We have had a very good year. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the parents and the children for their cooperation during this past school year. Our attendace was very good this year, which tells us that both the parents and children know the value of religious education. I would like to thank Father Maciej Galle, our Pastor, and all the people on the staff of St. Priscilla Parish. They are always willing to help our Religious Education Program. I would also like to thanks the following people: Antoinette Sanders, Sister Agnes Francis SND, Yolanda Gomez, Maxine Neimeier-Poole, Vanessa Aviles, Magaly Rivera, Chic Duffy, Anna Harmata, Perla Manriquez, Anna Babbo, Magdalena Kleszcz, Charles Harmata, and Michelle Adamowski for all their dedication and cooperation during this past year. We have an excellent group of people who have volunteered to give up their time to prepare for and come to class every week. I hope you have a wonderful summer and we look forward to seeing you next year. I will be sending a letter to our familes at the beginning of August to let you know about our program for the school year. I will also keep you up-to-date with news in our parish bulletin and on our parish website. Remember to go to Mass and receive the sacraments during the summer months.
