WHAT A PRESENT HE S GETTING! You can be sure that the canonization of one of his closest friends and confidantes will make this birthday the best ever. In just a few weeks we will host this wonderful pastor, the personal secretary of Pope St. John Paul II for forty years, now his successor as Archbishop of Krakow. He is visiting us in Cleveland for a variety of reasons, number one being his acceptance of our parish s Four Eagle Award the evening of May 15th. Why him? Perhaps because he has been so generous to our parish! In case you didn t know, it was this man who welcomed us into his private apartment in Krakow back on November 8th, 2005, shortly after the death of John Paul II, bestowing on our parish the gift of one of John Paul s miters. I will never forget that evening! We (Fr. Michael and I) were floored!!! We were given this treasure by the man who was with John Paul through his glorious life and his beautiful death. We were blessed. Two years later, on April 16, 2007, once again the group of pilgrims from St. Stanislaus and other Cleveland parishes were welcomed into the private spaces of the palace of the Archbishop. There Cardinal Dziwisz welcomed us as he was asked to bless the icon of two of his predecessors as Bishops of Krakow, St. Stanislaus Szczepanowski and soon to be St. John Paul II. That was an deeply emotional experience for all of 39 of us, being in the same chapel where Karol Wojytla was ordained by Prince Adam Cardinal Sapieha on November 1, 1946. Cardinal Dziwisz was a gracious host to US once again and now it will be our turn to reciprocate in kind! On Thursday, May 15th, 2014, the Cardinal will be in Cleveland. He will be greeted by the combined schoolchildren of our campus, receive the traditional bread and salt, dedicate a historic plaque commemorating the visits of his predecessor and himself, be ushered into the church where he will pray before the Blessed Sacrament, visit the Shrines of St. Stanislaus and St. John Paul II (the icon installed here on April 18, 2014), then led to view the soon to be dedicated Shrine to Divine Mercy in the West transept across from the Passion altar. That afternoon the Cardinal will host a private fund raiser (tickets are available) at the Polish American Cultural Center on the corner of Lansing and East 65th, there hoping to raise funds for a project dear to his heart, the Be Not Afraid Center dedicated to the life and work of St. John Paul the Great. Then, the highlight of the day the Cardinal will return to St. Stanislaus to celebrate Mass for us and to dedicate the Divine Mercy Shrine. The Mass will begin promptly at 6 PM. During the Mass the Cardinal will again show his graciousness by bestowing on our Shrine Church yet another relic, a first class relic of St. John Paul II. What a friend! What an honor to host this both great and humble man! Could there be any more worthy recipient?! The Four Eagle event which follows (see sheet enclosed in this week s bulletin) will be such a small tribute to someone who has given us so much. Although this is normally a parish fundraiser, the profit is quite secondary this time around (though we hope we at least make a couple dollars). What is important is that we turn out and show our gratitude to a world renowned friend of our community, a man whose humble beginnings never allowed him to forget the common man, a man who shared with us so many great treasures as well as memories. We are forever thankful to the Cardinal for his largesse. His gifts to our little known corner of the world have inspired many, many, many people, enriched their faith and led them closer to Jesus through Mary through the intercession of his friend, St. John Paul the Great! Please join us as we express our gratitude on May 15th, 2014. Ad multos annos! David Krakowski

Wielkanoc to totalna odnowa skażonego grzechem człowieczeństwa. On nas wszystkich oczekuje na drodze do Galilei. Wielkanoc to totalna odnowa skażonego grzechem człowieczeństwa. Wielkanoc to duchowa radość z ocalenia. Bóg interweniuje przez swego Syna, by śmierć nie miała ostatniego słowa nad człowiekiem. Syn przyjął śmierć, by nam dać życie wieczne. Ta noc jest nocą zwycięstwa. Wychodzimy z Egiptu naszych wątpliwości, problemów, pokus, bezsensu, beznadziei. Prowadzi nas Jezus Nowy Mojżesz. Ziemia Obiecana to życie wiarą na ziemi, a kiedyś szczęście wieczne z Ojcem, Synem i Duchem. Wody Morza Czerwonego to wody chrztu, za chwilę uroczyście poświęcone, będą dawały życie nadprzyrodzone nowym członkom Kościoła. Odnowimy też przyrzeczenia chrzcielne, bo chrzest czyni nas własnością Boga i mamy żyć jak Jego dzieci; od momentu chrztu płynie w nas Boża krew łaski. W chrzcie Bóg niejako adoptuje nas i przysposabia na swoje dzieci i daje nam majątek, udział w dziedziczeniu. Dziedzictwem Boga dla nas jest niebo. Niegdyś zamknięte w tę świętą noc zostaje otwarte na oścież. Uczeń Chrystusa musi nieustannie umierać i zmartwychwstawać. Niech On w nas zwycięża nad grzechem i śmiercią.
