From the Pastor s Desk November 2016 Jubilee of Mercy Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ: wmlego@gmail.com (773) 581-2730 ext. 29 As the Jubilee of Mercy concludes, I invite you to reflect on opportunities to continue accompanying the poor in our midst, including through the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD). For over forty-five years, CCHD has been a living example of our Church s social teaching, offering a hand-up to empower the poor to help themselves improve their lives and the livelihood of their families and others. This year, CCHD is funding twentyeight organizations that are addressing the roots causes of poverty with seniors, youth, immigrants, people with disabilities and workers in Cook and Lake Counties. jdowling42@gmail.com (773) 581-2730 ext. 15 This year a collaborative effort by several CCHD grantees helped pass the Illinois Domestic Workers Bill of Rights (HB 1288). Inaugural Jingle Bell Walk Please join the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Chicago for our Inaugural Jingle Bell Walk on Saturday, December 3, 2016. In its firstyear, we are expecting over 1,000 walkers to join in the holiday cheer. The Jingle Bell Walk will feature a 3K through Lincoln Park with choirs caroling along the way, hot chocolate and fresh cookies, kid's crafts, a special visit from Santa, and view of the zoo and city holiday lights.
