PRIOR TO UNDERTAKING ANY ACTION THAT IS NOT PROVISIONED FOR THE GIVEN PRODUCT IN ITS USER S MANUAL AND OTHER DOCUMENTS DELIVERED WITH THE PRODUCT, OR THAT ARISES FROM THE NORMAL APPLICATION OF THE PRODUCT, ITS MANUFACTURER MUST BE CONTACTED OR THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE MANUFACTURER FOR THE RESULTS OF SUCH AN ACTION SHELL BE EXCLUDED. 1. The installation of NV-DVR4608/D, NV-DVR4616/D should be done by a qualified service person or a professional safety system installer. 2. Recorders mustn t be placed in places where ventilating holes are partially or fully covered. 3. User s interference inside the device is not allowed and is unnecessary as it does not have any systems which require adjusting or which are suitable for self-repair. You mustn t dismantle the recorder or remove any single fastening screws. If any repairs are necessary contact the service. The device must be taken care of and protected against any mechanical damage. 4. The recorder has to be protected against humidity and dust. In case the recorder had a contact with water react immediately: switch off the power supply and contact the authorised Novus service. If the device gets dirty it might get damaged or electrocute someone. 5. The device can be cleaned only with a damp cloth after the power supply has been switched off. Avoid strong detergents (liquids and sprays). Mild detergents can be used if the recorder becomes very dirty. 6. Power supply unit cords and signal cords should be laid in a way that eliminates the risk of mechanical damage; special attention should be paid to the plug. Be careful not to overload sockets and extension cords so that there is no fire. 7. To avoid recorder s damage vision and control signals should be equipped with systems protecting against disturbances, over voltage and atmospheric discharge that are in compliance with Polish regulations. It is also advised to use ground loop isolators. 8. The device mustn t be used in conditions which do not fulfil operating requirements as far as power supply, relative humidity or air temperature are concerned. 9. You cannot allow any metal objects get inside the recorder. It might cause serious damage. If a metal object gets inside the device contact the authorised Novus service immediately. 10. The manufacturer does not bear responsibility for damage or loss of data stored on HDDs or other media occurred during the usage of the product. 3

Please make sure that the following items are included in the package: NV-DVR4608/D or NV-DVR4616/D recorder. CD containing manual and software Power Supply Cord Remote controller User s manual If any of the items listed above is damaged or missing, pack all the elements back into the original box and contact your supplier for further assistance. WARNING! CAUTION: It is not allowed to power on the equipment directly after it has been brought from a place with low temperature. If the device has been brought from an area of lower temperature the user should wait until the equipment warms up and reaches the room temperature. Before starting the device please read the manual carefully. 7

VIDEO IN/LOOP 8 or 16 video inputs to connect cameras with loop-through video outputs. 2. VIDEO OUT main monitor video outputs 1 x BNC and 1 x S-Video. 3. SPOT 1~4 2 or 4 spot monitors video outputs. Each of spot monitors can display one camera in full screen mode or selected cameras in sequence. 4. cooling fan (DO NOT COVER!!!). 5. ARI (Alarm Reset Input) if the alarm reset input is low for longer than 0,5 sec all active alarm outputs are cancelled. PANIC if the PANIC input is low for longer than 0,5 sec panic recording mode is activated / deactivated. 6. RS-485 RS-485 connector for PTZ camera control or system keyboard. 7. 100~240 V AC power supply socket. Please make sure that the plug is inserted correctly and cable is connected to the socket equipped with a protective earth pin. It is not recommended to strongly bend the cable. 8

It is strongly recommended to connect microphones to recorder through an amplifier. Recorder audio inputs aren t equipped with amplifiers. NOTE: Sound recording can only take place when legal regulations of a given country allows it. 9. AUDIO OUT RCA audio output for external speaker. Recorder audio output is not equipped with amplifier, so please use speakers with amplifiers. 10. ALARM INPUTS alarm inputs. 11. ALARM OUTPUTS alarm outputs. To connect external device such as: buzzer, lamp, siren additional transistor driver required. 12. USB USB socket to connect USB mouse, USB Flash memory or external HDD. 13. Before device installation and operation please analyze the scheme shown below. Depending on specific user needs and requirements each system will consist of various number of external devices. Monitors, cameras and other devices are not included and must be purchased separately. Detailed description of device connection is included in following chapters of this manual. 10

Front Panel Description NV-DVR4616 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 NOTE: USB mouse or external system keyboard can be used to control the recorder. Detailed information about USB mouse control can be found in full user s manual in chapter 10. 1. ON/OFF BUTTON Press the button to turn DVR ON and OFF. Button is highlighted when power supply is on. Press the button, when recorder is on to log the user out and turns the recorder off. 2. USB PORTS USB ports for USB flash memory, external HDD or mouse connection. 3. IR Remote control receiver. 4. PWR, REC & NET Red power LED is lightning when recorder is on. Red recording LED is lightning when video is being recorded. Green network LED is blinking when recorder is connected to the Ethernet network. 5. 1~16 (1~8) Camera select buttons. Press the button to display camera in full screen mode. Also use these buttons to enter the password. 11

In PTZ mode buttons are used to control image sharpness. 7. PAUSE BUTTON In PLAYBACK mode button pauses the video. Press button again to start playback. In PTZ mode button is used to program a preset in current camera position. 8. FF & RW BUTTONS In PLAYBACK mode FF and RW buttons change playback speed. Successive pressing one of the buttons increases playback speed up to: x2, x4, x8, x16, x32, x64. In PTZ mode buttons are used to change focal length. FF - Zoom in; RW - Zoom out. 9. JOG wheel In playback mode JOG wheel changes forward or backward display speed up to: x2, x4, x8, x16, x32, x64. Centre part of the JOG wheel enables frame-by-frame video playback. NOTE: Front panel buttons are highlighted in green. All active buttons are highlighted. The number of active buttons depends on DVR operation mode (display, playback, PTZ control). 12

In PTZ mode button allows to decrease preset or pattern number. 11. SEQUENCE BUTTON In DISPLAY mode button allows to start sequence display mode on the main monitor. In PTZ mode button allows to increase preset or pattern number. 12. PANIC BUTTON In DISPLAY mode button allows to start panic recording mode. 13. ZOOM BUTTON In DISPLAY mode button allows to zoom in displayed image. In PTZ mode button allows to program a pattern in a PTZ camera menu. 14. BACKUP BUTTON In DISPLAY mode button allows to open archive menu. In PTZ mode button allows to start previously chosen pattern. 13

Press button again to open PTZ mode to choose a pattern or enter to PTZ camera menu. 16. SEARCH BUTTON In DISPLAY mode, button allows to open search recording mode. Details information are described in the following chapter of the manual. In PTZ mode button allows to open NOVUS CAMA menu. 17. EXIT BUTTON In recorder MENU button allows to close menu and discard introduced changes. In PTZ or PLAYBACK mode button allows to go back to DISPLAY mode. 18. ENTER BUTTON Button is used to confirm user s choices. In PTZ and PTZ mode button allows to run chosen preset or pattern. 19. MENU BUTTON Activates On Screen Display menu. Details information are described in the following chapter of the manual. 20. NAVIGATION BUTTONS In recorder MENU buttons allow to navigate through the menu and to set menu values. In PTZ mode, the buttons are used to move camera. In ZOOM mode, the buttons change observation area. 14

NV-DVR4608(S)/D and NV-DVR4616(S)/D 1.3 version. - User s manual STARTING THE DEVICE 2.5. HDD Installation NV-DVR4608 and NV-DVR4616 devices support up to 3 hard disks. Warning: Internal HDD should be installed by qualified service personnel. If the DVR housing is opened by unqualified person the warranty is void. Warning: Prior to mounting, to check for the compatibility of a given HDD model, please contact local NOVUS supplier or check HDD compatibility list on NOVUS web page. Warning: Usage of Seagate ST3500320AS HDD and Samsung HDDs is strongly not recommended. NOVUS is not responsible for any damages resulting from mounting HDDs other than recommended. Notice: In case of using HDD from other device all data stored on the HDD will be removed before its first run. 2.6. Turning the Device On Device power on is activated by switching the POWER switch located on the front panel of the recorder. Switching power button starts the recorder. The loading procedure of the operating system may take about 30 seconds. It is strongly recommended not to initialize any function or press any button during that time. Press the button, when recorder is on to log the user out and turns the recorder off. 15

RECORDER MENU The NV-DVR4608 and NV-DVR4616 DVRs have multilevel graphic interface which can be displayed on the main monitor. The multilingual menu can be displayed in English, German, Spanish, Polish or Russian language. The only difference between 8 - and 16 - channel versions is the amount of channels, alarm inputs etc. Before using your DVR for the first time, you need to establish the initial settings such as time and date, display language, remote control, network settings etc. To enter the main menu press the front panel MENU button. The Login screen appears: Select user and enter the password by pressing the appropriate combination of channel number buttons and then the ENTER button. NOTE: Default USER: ADMIN, PASSWORD: 1234. To navigate through the menu use buttons. To enter sub-menus and edit particular values use ENTER button. To change values use buttons. To exit the menu or close submenu window press EXIT button. When it is necessary to enter the name or a title virtual keyboard appears. Delete last entered letter Capital letters To choose a letter use navigation buttons and confirm your choice by ENTER button. 16

User can define date and time of wanted records or search records by the events gathered in the events log. ADMIN or MANAGER type users are able to log into search menu and playback recorded images. Press SEARCH button on the front panel of the recorder to display the following window: After logging in the following window appears: 17

Searching by Time After choosing SEARCH BY TIME submenu the following window appears: The CALENDAR panel is available after EXIT button is pressing. In the calendar, the days marked in orange are those during which some images were recorded. For data selection use buttons. To change a current month use buttons. Press ENTER button for the day selection. For time selection use buttons. Each pressing changes time for 15 minutes. Use FF and RW buttons to change time precisely. Each pressing changes time for 1 second. Blue colour is used to mark recorded materials from particular video channels. Press ENTER button to playback selected records. Press 1~8 or 1~16 button to display camera in full screen mode. Press DISPLAY button to change display mode. To change playback direction press FORWARD and BACKWARD buttons. Press FF and RW buttons to change playback speed: x2, x4, x8, x16, x32, x64. You can also change the playback speed using JOG wheel. Press PAUSE button to stop playback. Press PAUSE button again to start playback. In the pause mode turn around internal JOG wheel to playback records frame by frame. Press EXIT button to open search window. Press it again to exit playback mode. 18

Search by Event SEARCH BY EVENT submenu allows for searching recorded material depending on different events types: ALARM an alarm input activation MOTION motion detection event TIMER recording ON/OFF SYSTEM shut down and starting the system event Please select the ALARM, TIMER, MOTION or SYSTEM event type. Set a time range and select START button. Press ENTER button to search. Use navigation buttons to select one of listed events. To play relative records press the ENTER button. 19
